  1. Marlena Shaw?
  2. Philip Larkin? Art Pepper?
  3. Can I do one? Here goes, Who, and to whom were they referring?
  4. Miles to Pee Wee Marquette, MC at Birdland. It may have been Miles, but I heard it was Pres. Have we any witnesses present?
  5. Miles to Pee Wee Marquette, MC at Birdland.
  6. Laydeez, gentleman & feline guests, please be upstanding (or at least on all fours) for one groovy cat. Happy Birthday AB.
  7. No surprise. Although it certainly doen't diminish his achievements in my eyes. He is one of the all time greats. In amongst fellow chargers or not. Legend has it that when he suffered that awful crash in Paris - Roubaix a few years ago they took him via helicopter not to a French hospital but to a Belgian one in order to avoid the possibility of the over-zealous French authorities. He apparently was running at such a high haematocrit level that when he had to stop the race and his body slowed down, he arrested several times en route. Don't know exactly how true this is but it sounds a likely scenario for many a competitor.
  8. Yeah, I always got the impression he was a bit up himself. Preaching down to his congregation.
  9. Wasn't there quite a cool vid for Peter Gabriel's 'Games Without Frontiers', that is 80's right??? U2's 'Unforgettable Fire' was quite poignant and filled with early U2 pathos. A bit different these days eh. The Bangles did some great vids. Well any images of Susy Hoffs or whatever she was called are great.
  10. BTW, isn't Pfink or whatever he's called these days, a mod over at AAJ?
  11. No, I think he's right on the money there....
  12. To tell you the truth Moose, one of the main reasons for me coming off the tablets was that it was affecting my you-know-what. About 2 weeks after stopping I had the horn like you wouldn't believe. Each case is completely different and each medication has different effects on each individual. If I ever felt that I was slumping as low as I was, then I wouldn't hesitate in seeing my quack again though. Hope you get through this.
  13. there's a 6 part television mini series that runs for a couple of hours more. But I see your attention span only lasts for 8 seconds, so... Sorry for the hijack of sorts, but it's the 'Director's Cut'. says on the cover...duh.... And for the record, anti-depressants? I can empathise with anyone whose started them and come off them. I've been off them now for 4 months and I feel normal now, whether that is better or worse, time will tell.
  14. Oh, don't know....200 minutes if that helps. Pretty darn long as it is. The XXL version would be too tense for me, I was sweating after about an hour of this one. Mind you, I don't think anything can beat Fignon v. Lemond's 1989 Tour for tension and suspense
  15. You are probably in a deep slep right now Peter, but I too was awake when you posted that. I managed to watch Das Boot though. Hope your condition is just a temporary one. Cheers.
  16. Les Spann was my first exposure to guys like this. I heard the Ellington/Fitzgerald stuff and thought he was amazing on there. Shortly after I purchased Abbey Is Blue where he doubles again. Very impressive talent.
  17. Can we just call it 'entertainment'?
  18. OK, I've avoided any potential spoilers by coming straight to the end of this thread, but I did read the first few posts when they were originally written. I was intrigued by the comments then. Anyhow, the show aired tonight in the UK. Obviously, most males will be instantly captivated by the aesthetic charms of this show. Looks like good, easy fun. Something I can switch off to mid-week. Interestingly, I missed a doc on BBC4 called Cobra-Ferrari Wars, which is about Carol Shelby's efforts in creating race winning motors in order to watch the show (I did check that there is a repeat later in the week though ).
  19. Christian's views on some of your favourite films.... They miss quite a lot of good ones out, hell, they even leave halfway through some of them. In Out Of Sight, they found a bold anatomical reference. J-Lo's rump perhaps.
  20. 3 f***ing pages.........* * alternate version.

    Herbie Hancock

His one handed solo on Miles Smiles is worth the album price alone.
  22. All the very best!
  23. Hi all. I've never traded records over the web before but I have several original Capitol 78's for sale, most with covers in decent condition. To cut a long story short, my boss has given me these discs to sell on her behalf. She has no idea what to ask for, but she wants them to go to a good home, as they were her dads. He died during 2004. So if anyone wants a list of what there is, or pics; no problem. Any ideas on value would be very helpful. Thanks guys.
