  1. You are probably in a deep slep right now Peter, but I too was awake when you posted that. I managed to watch Das Boot though. Hope your condition is just a temporary one. Cheers.
  2. Les Spann was my first exposure to guys like this. I heard the Ellington/Fitzgerald stuff and thought he was amazing on there. Shortly after I purchased Abbey Is Blue where he doubles again. Very impressive talent.
  3. Can we just call it 'entertainment'?
  4. OK, I've avoided any potential spoilers by coming straight to the end of this thread, but I did read the first few posts when they were originally written. I was intrigued by the comments then. Anyhow, the show aired tonight in the UK. Obviously, most males will be instantly captivated by the aesthetic charms of this show. Looks like good, easy fun. Something I can switch off to mid-week. Interestingly, I missed a doc on BBC4 called Cobra-Ferrari Wars, which is about Carol Shelby's efforts in creating race winning motors in order to watch the show (I did check that there is a repeat later in the week though ).
  5. Christian's views on some of your favourite films.... They miss quite a lot of good ones out, hell, they even leave halfway through some of them. In Out Of Sight, they found a bold anatomical reference. J-Lo's rump perhaps.
  6. 3 f***ing pages.........* * alternate version.

    Herbie Hancock

His one handed solo on Miles Smiles is worth the album price alone.
  8. All the very best!
  9. Hi all. I've never traded records over the web before but I have several original Capitol 78's for sale, most with covers in decent condition. To cut a long story short, my boss has given me these discs to sell on her behalf. She has no idea what to ask for, but she wants them to go to a good home, as they were her dads. He died during 2004. So if anyone wants a list of what there is, or pics; no problem. Any ideas on value would be very helpful. Thanks guys.
  10. Jazz Festival promo... Very well done.
  11. Haha..sometimes this board resembles one of those confessional type WeightWatchers meets doesn't it.
  12. Have a good one Marty.
  13. Hope you all have an exciting and happy 2005.
  14. Great pics, very evocative. Good job we have at least some of the music to accompany it. Imagine those fans of medieval choral music.
  15. Yeah Yeah Yeahs latest. Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: L.A.'s Desert Origins the recent expanded release. And just ordered online: Embrace's newest. And Scissor Sisters. Oh and Traffic on DVD. Good day out.
  16. Wow. Thanks all for the greetings. Had a lovely time with my wife (son is staying with his Grandparents) out for the afternoon and evening; nice meal in Cafe Rouge (French bistro chain in the UK --- quite authentic too, we tend to eat there a bit) and spent a bit of money on discs. I think your collective posts here outnumber my cards on the mantlepiece. A sure sign that one is getting older, the number of 'real-life' but very true friends diminish somewhat, only to be replaced or enhanced with the 'virtual' friends you feel you have a lot in common with but can only dream to meet in person. Oh well. Have a great night guys and girls, I'm off to wrap myself around one of my Christmas gifts ( a nice bottle of Bunnahabhain). I'll drink an early toast to a safe, happy and exciting New Year to you all. Thanks again.
  17. Cheers fellas. That was a pleasant surprise especially since I've logged in so early in the a.m. Off to York spending vouchers and maybe a blast in my motor later on (if the local authority doesn't dump another 3 tonne of salt onto the roads!). Hope you all have a grand day too, whatever you're up to. Chin chin
  18. Derivative yes, but if you can't stand that Mark guy, definately more lovable
  19. Thanks for that fellas. Wowee Zowie and BTC it is, if I don't see it tomorrow in York then there's an online order going in that evening. Cheers.
  20. I know there are some Pavement fans on this site so I thought I'd pick their brains over again. I'll have some money to spend after xmas and my birthday and was wondering which 2 albums to buy from there catalogue post-'Crooked Rain'. I've looked at AMG but the guys(s?) who write the reviews seems o be a great fan of anything they do. I'm tempted by the last one, Terror Twilight, but I can't decide between Wowee Zowie and Brighten The Corners. If you can suggest any permutation of the above, please tell. Thanks, Tony.
  21. Hope you had a good 'un. Cheers, Tony.
  22. :sinistervoice: And, never to return....... whoa-ha-hah-ha-haaaaa...
  23. I'll find out when I stray over the 20gig threshold. That shouldn't be far off after uploading todays xmas treat.
  24. Thats strange If its the same set I think you are refering to I call it 'Wayneshorterplayslikeabadassmotherfucker' Bit of a case of: "I want tha'one..."
  25. Amazon.de kindly delivered my xmas pressie from my wife, last week. I haven't been allowed to see it yet but I do know it's a certain mammoth December live set which has been affectionately referred to as 'the death of jazz'.
