  1. Just received "Staccato" on disc and Williams does play piano here. He also served as main go-to on much of Mancini's more jazz drenched soundtracks. As well he played that damned harpsichord on 'Combo!'.
  2. Yes, they always pissed me off in edition after edition with their line about Sonny Clark.
  3. To think that both "Small Change" and "I Don't Want to Go Home" were released 32 years back. Man I'm getting old ... those lps sit in a milk crate somewhere. My allegiances then went more to SS as his live trips to Cleveland were many and caught him nearly every chance I could. The project seems like one of his devotion. Nice to hear his voice still strong as ever on the samples. Good luck with it all DanG. esp with the competition from Ms Johansen.(do I smell a touring duet?) You got quite a crew of chops in that line up! Must have been fun!! LaBamba,LaBamba,LaBamba...
  4. illy B loves dem hooves!
  5. Curious if anyone has heard this? I was happy to see it at the local shop and pulled it up to the cash register. The kid behind was excited to see it too, but let me know that all he had heard on the Tzadik label was just noise to him - "Mike Patton, Buckethead, Trevor Dunn" ... what'd he expect! I assured him that Medeski has played the Zorn stuff all pretty straight even in the Electric Masada and supplied much swing and groove. Well I phoned the store after a preview drive to alert him of his spot-on call. Luckily some chump at eBay picked it up w/ a Buy It Now sos I didn't have to chuck it out the window after all. Aside from some shaking goat hooves and the last couple of tunes I found nothing of merit whatsoever. I think I'm now officially tired of Zorn's schtick and his regurgitated melodies. Too much paraquat in the last batch at the shack, maybe?
  6. Call Vladimir at North Country Audio (Cadence records etc...) NY. Tell him what you need and he will set you up , likes, dislikes, budget. AND they'll be there before you can strip your wires! Cadence North Country
  7. "Freshly Squeezed"... Lynch's tastes during that period certainly drew to the swankiest when it came to jazz and to me Badalamenti's Twin Peaks work owes a great deal to the Italian soundtracks from the sixties and surrounding. Check out sources such as Armando Trovajoli (Trovaioli), Piero Umiliani, Gianni Ferrio and others. A good place to start might be "e-music" and look for labels like 'Cinevox' and 'Right Tempo' / 'Easy Tempo' for some samplings. But do get hands on the OSTs mentioned by Quincy as well as Wild At Heart - steer a bit clear of the TP vol II.
  8. Do love that title! "Jazz music from the dumpster behind the 24-hour Mini-Mart"
  9. These two Trio 3-D works are back at the bastids. Nearly essential.
  10. Then how do you explain the web feet? those feet aren't webbed. at this state of decomposition the carpals are shown in their lengthy entirety. Good answer, but it is also possible the dog had ducks in his ancestry.

  12. it's a dog. that beak look is just the septum and it's lack of wings tells us it's not a griffin.
  13. all set ... the server for Mosaic did not respond for an hour or so ... True Blue and Contemporary links worked fine but the link back to Mosaic proper stalled and errored .. all good now and my credit card company is happier as well. Now the race is on to beat the rest of the family to the UPS guy.
  14. Why don't you call them now or send an e-mail explaining what happened, they might still give you a deal. did and done ...
  15. looks like they pulled the plug on the website at quitting time .. just when i clicked thru to place an order they emptied my cart and now it is no go. all other linked sites work but not Mosaic.
  16. at least it won't get those pesky malicious viruses.
  17. "Aay, how many reconstructions ya want?" "...eeer, tree or fower!"
  18. that's just no fun! and the French won't like it either.
  19. When he's gone, can I use his member name? Asshat.
  20. why "Yippie!" ? edit: "Yippee!" my first one was so Jerry Rubin
  21. I found most all of Billy Larkin there a few months back ... I was afraid to post about the site for fear of the wrath of the "JAZZ" beltbuckle!
  22. on an unrelated note: a friend was over and brought her new iPhone along. She was curious about the music we had playing and held the phone up in the air. After about ten seconds the artist, album and song along with cover artwork came up on the screen. We even sang into it and it knew the song. One of the new Apple "apps" I gather ... freekin' spooky!
