  4. Interested!? and pass up an interview with Vince McMahon!
  5. brown shirted radicals who march in the spring...
  6. stumbled across this ... had heard of one of the compilers Manu Boubli somewhere ... across the board kind of acid jazz, rare groove, break beats etc but got a good beat and just a smidge of the Roxbury Bros. you can download the 96K list streams
  7. I've never heard "Done it again". MG I've got bits and pieces of 'Done It Again' - worthwhile album and along w/ all those Solid States should see the light. A bit like Don Cunningham in that the originals on the LP are a bit more exotic than groove oriented. I always see Lytle getting short verse from anything I've read but I completely love the energy he puts into just about everything I've heard ... cheese or not.
  8. big deal ... we used to have one in our yard when i was a kid!
  9. I'll second Newbury! While I'm up the road apeice from one I have also ordered online via Amazon and gotten the merchandise in two days max. At the least it shows they are paying attention. edit: i guess that's a third!
  10. Oh please, go on. I can tell ya dig her. Her album was released here, what, seven months after the UK? My kid wanted me to check her out and I have listened to her and find it all a bit of a hoot ... not so much my cupotea but anyone who puts up "The Chief" from Fess right after the hit single intro on a debut album has either some smarts somewhere or a decent producer. I gather she's rather a stirrer of chit than a real talent in the end, eh.
  11. more Winehouse: check the live deal ... a bit more believable ... dig that little Shangri La thing. the cut's a good minute too long, could've used a solo for spice. i think she has to pee. another Tina tip w/ Weller. looked at some other vids on YouTube. this gal's gonna end up on the loo floor mighty soon. now what about that Lily Allen!!!
  12. DAMN!! edit for saying that Pullen just kicks some serious buttocks here. Smitty is crazy too!!! Thanks to the tip there Eloe.
  13. well ... the BFTs been up for a near a month w/o much action. gather that I should've suggested a nice hearty red to go with all the stinky cheese I offered. crackers anybody? answers??
  14. hit me up doc ... i will keep an eye on the modem with baking soda at the ready.
  15. My favorite organ one-off is Pullen's work on "My Brothers" from Kip Hanrahan's 'Conjure: Cab Calloway Stands in for the Moon'. tried to search for the lyrics but alas i'll have to rely on my own... "you come up here shit on my floor, spill my liquor, talk loud, giggle about my books, move things from their natural places...." edit: just found the album on iTunes (aaargh sez alocis') and eMusic for immediate gratification ... you might just add "Bitter Choklate" as well.
  16. But Casino Royale meets The Wall is in keeping with that Taylor Dayne meets Aretha thing she does.
  17. or for .02 less you can go with the organissimo linkee @ amazon.
  18. Vaclav Havel ... no matter how ya spell it it's a great name.
  19. I recommended this in another thread after only having heard snips of it for a spit but after settling into the downloads from eMusic I must urge the midly interested to check this out right now. Never heard of this guy before sampling nor any of the other musicians on the record. (the last two cuts feature ele piano not by Federico) "Organic B-3 Groove" Seems this kid is just that but no doubt quite accomplished in his greazily reserved playing and laid back arrangements. Bari Bruno Marini is the real deal that seals the sound for me while Charles Bowen's tenor seems a bit of an hommage to Braithwaite, but... plus the guys got some good mentors. a good 40 minute set: "Young Energy", "Yea Baby", "Saviana", "The Way I Feel" & "Queen Of The Organ".
  20. might have to see this just for that Rhino in the preview!
  21. them bonobos also display some rather liberal tendencies. aren't they the chimps who laze around doing a bit more than just grooming each other. she probably thought it was something better than a finger.
  22. if your'e talking "eMusic" ... not close ... they run variable from 150 at times up to 320 but usually around the 192 mark. the stuff sounds fine to me tho! certainly good for testing it all out plus a free deal of 25 dwnlds to sample.
  23. 'Voodoo' is a fantastic piece of essential, if that genre can be , exotica. Hopefully this isn't like Schifrin redoing Bullitt etc...
  24. Can anybody rec an essential Ismael Miranda? Was down in the native land last week and heard a couple live songs that evidently were from a Fania issue of recent past. Much more large band musically and less son going on. Fantastic stuff but trying to get the proprietor to look into the changer and find out what it actually was seemed to be too much for him.
