  1. damn! here's a cold one
  2. for your necessary ease the organissimo funded linky is HERE no reason to hesitate. went w/ the Messengers as the must have. and then grab this Sister to it all.
  3. you better... maskenadia anyone.
  4. couw is tops on these issues but ... if I had to pick a few I'd go with:
  5. now if one could only harness the sustainable energy that at times is the byproduct of a good mattress.
  6. I was listening to a 'Hefti in Gotham' "share" a while back and noted how the tune "Mother Gotham" was right outta the Odd Couple. Forgot to check his discography. So, who was the go-to organist Hefti used?
  7. re; ron trent - i see that some Trent is e-musicable http://www.emusic.com/album/10924/10924581.html this looks to be a "mix tape" but contains much of the list from your rec. hmmm ... sample time. ... some very juju from what i hear.
  8. thanks Ray. i will save it for myself. requests have been coming for some time to go see some "like, really scary stuff". i have yet to cave and this coming from a house with only four channels on the antenna. "Labyrinth" just had that look of Roald Dahl doing Narnia with a bit of that Lynchian twist that i prefer. i've not seen a good scare for a long time and that genre is now so gourged with torture that little good old fairy-tail darkness exists anymore. i'll have to go rent "Dark Crystal" instead but it just won't mean much on our little tv set.
  9. I'm thinking more Peter Greenaway meets The Dark Crystal and they have Gelflings for supper. wonder how much torture and blood letting etc there is? but these days compared to promos for all the CSI bits you see while watching a football game opinions vary as to what's a bit too much.
  10. from another movie thread ... ... just how heavy is this "R" rating on 'Labyrinth' - would a "tween" be OK with it? i'm eager to see it and my daughter has been buggin' for a scary movie. i see that Wm Stout had done some concept work ... monster talent!
  11. I only want Hank's Savoy albums because they're the only ones I don't have. New members of this forum doesn't always equate with new listeners of jazz! Thanks for the welcome! welcome triple e gor ... you'll understand sooner than later.
  12. been revisiting that Masters at Work nuyorican and perusing around courtesy of Jim's rec of the 'Quintero ala natch-urel' release and do like some of them earthy bound rhythms that root this genre... BUT is there any of the MAW esque stuff and the like that does NOT remind me of this everytime I hear it? (and hey there's even a ballad) (maybe i can toss in the Norah Jones Disclaimer that I'm looking for it for the wife?)
  13. your welcome, but thanks to andybleaden ... just wanted to bring this great info into a titled thread. (i was perusing old searches and found this one as JSngry was trumping this disc in the "hard hitting soul" thread.) just got this for cheap and really enjoying it ... not something i would have normally sprung for. crazy stuff with the sfx and whistles (i had some monkey hips going on behind the drawing board when i first cued it) - a one of a kind album. makes me wonder if any Lytle was caught live.
  14. courtesy of andybleaden : http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...mp;#entry605149 Again I have to concur with both of your comments. Picked this up recently as a complete stranger to his music until I realized he had worked with Grant Green on Visions etc. Really corking tunes on this and the other LP of his which was ...er, um, erm...oh yes Out of this World i think. Both pretty rare vinyl wise that go for silly money on ebay but well worth a listen to ...btw here is some info via an interview with Billy Wooten . I was thinking of starting a separate thread just on his music courtesy of http://www.stonesthrow.com/funky16/wooten-interview.html Fascinating and different insight
  15. now this is cool! deer rescue video
  16. why should you run away from a blond who throws a pin at you? she might have a hand-grenade in her mouth.
  17. Just listening in to a newly arrived platter ... better have Monday save some room in the week for ...
  18. Thanks Jim! Could this quite possibly be one of Hilton Ruiz's last recorded efforts? He was responsible for introing me to some guy named Sam Rivers on that "Something Grand" album that really truly was. I also thought his and Palmieri's work on the "Nuyorican Soul" disc was somethin' else. edit to add:myspace (and whaddahek is "thanks for the add"?, i always just blamed society at large)
