  1. having trouble sleeping??? I find staring at this gif sooooo relaxing...
  2. as weird as this is, you know, it's not all that bad!
  3. Having done the same to the Cardinals when they hired Vern Rapp I totally get that sentiment. What's the Rapp on Vern??? Now Whitey Herzog...after he traded Gary Templeton, Ted Simmons, Keith Hernandez, Terry Kennedy and Leon "the Bull" Durham....the Cards were no longer my Cards, that is a good reason to stop following a team! Forcing Al "The Mad Hungarian" to shave off his Fu Manchu was the final straw and I think he also wanted shorter haircuts on players too. That didn't set well with the 14 year old me who believed in the Samson power of long hair. But it was also trading Reggie Smith just before that that pissed me off royally. It was good for Reggie as he played in 3 World Series with the Dodgers, but who knows, had the Cards held onto him maybe the '70s would have been a better decade for the franchise. ahh yes... Fu Manchugate! my brain gets so fuzzy going back to my first memories of baseball. Never can remember if it was 1976 or 1977 I became a baseball/Cardinals fan. Perhaps mid-late 1976, since I sure remember his "chu" Did he want Reggie Smith traded??? Remember how Reggie's stance would make even a kid's knees ache???? and getting really into the bori..err interesting facts. At 37 for the Giants, he hit .284 with a .364 OBP, then retired! Bet his knees hurt...
  4. a little humor from of all places, the political site ace of spades... Joe Paterno Filled with Regret for Not Reporting Child Molestation and a Treatable Form of Lung Cancer, but Mostly a Treatable Form of Lung Cancer —Russ from Winterset Per CNN Actually, the CNN article contains a minor mistake. This cancer was NOT first diagnosed last week. A lab technician actually noticed the spots on an MRI image back in 2002, but didn't relay that information to the Paterno family. The technician told Paterno's doctor, and the doctor called a meeting with hospital administrators a week later and told them that the tech had seen "something of a cancerous nature, possibly cancerous horseplay". The doctor's son reportedly told reporters this morning that the whole hospital community is sorry for not telling Paterno about the cancer at the time, but they are convinced that the doctor did nothing wrong because he relayed the information to his superiors per hospital policy. Supposedly, hospital employees and former patients are going to riot tonight and destroy some news vans in solidarity with their beloved doctor.*

  7. Man, I'd imagine Luis is a bit long in the tooth these days! Goodspeak, two whole years eh?
  8. Ashton Kutcher, super genius.... http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2011/11/ashton-kutcher-said-something-impossibly-stupid/
  9. Yes, from all I've heard, he's a good kid. a good kid??? He was 28 at the time...Even if you suffered Rick Perry level brain freeze at that moment, You'd be sick to your stomach. You would at some point put yourself or a sibling in the place of the raped child. Even then if you did nothing at the time, you shouldn't, you wouldn't be able to sleep it would seem to me. You would keep replaying it in your brain...was he so afraid of Paterno, or of losing his job, he did the very least he could do, and passed the buck??? Like Dan said, if he had just done something...perhaps gotten someone else to see it, call security to stop it, he'd have saved untold children from being raped...
  10. Wow....Sandusky should do his victims and the world a favor and kill himself. Creating a foundation to help troubled youth , then going out of your way to harm them, is about as evil as it gets. And the D.A. just.....disappeared????
  11. Almost looks like he's drinking from a small bottle of Pepto! and now for something completely different...
  12. Well, the comments are interesting....and Estate taxes are different than "regular" taxes. These people shouldn't be rich! Down with the Rich! No one should be rich! Or desire to be rich. It's wrong! We don't need rich people! Poor people or the government should give us our jobs!
  13. Weird to be from St. Louis and hoping that the Cards would lose so the Rangers could finally win one...but, it wasn't meant to be...feel sorry for Ron Washington, the players and fans, but they played great all through the playoffs, and can hang their heads high....just wait til next year!
  14. Think you are right on Feliz. Plus, he is only 23, in the biggest game of his life. Folks have to remember, the bullpens are GASSED! This isn't like 1975, this year starters are going what, 3-4 innings, and the first hint of trouble, the manager has to take the starter out, or he will be fired, basically. And as Smoltz has said in the past, the post season pitches are a lot more draining than those in a regular season game...and I imagine most pitchers right now have not pitched this deep into the post season, certainly after being in game after game, after game....
  15. So, how good is your Cardinal trivia skillzz???? I got 8 out of 10 right, probably should have gotten one more right, but didn't pay attention of the year! http://www.stltoday.com/news/multimedia/html_56680eae-ffe3-11e0-a363-0019bb30f31a.html
  16. Already tried that; this series has been too crazy even for my own ridiculously rambling doom&gloom predictions! And THAT, sadly, is the way baseball go.... sigh.... so, no one outside of the two towns want to watch the Rangers (in their second straight W.S. from a very large market) or the Cardinals (a team around since 1882, with 10 W.S. titles) but if the Superbowl had to smallish town teams like Pittsburgh and Green Bay, then there would be a huge audience for that...yeah, they both have "histories" but so do Cardinals and Rangers, just not together.... Do NOT get how the NFL becomes more and more popular. Even if "you" don't have the skill sets needed to play baseball, you can imagine playing the game....guys are successful that are 5 foot 8 in baseball. Who can imagine being a Center or defensive end????
  17. Having just turned 25, he probably never heard Harry Carey, and it doing Will Ferrell doing Harry Carey!
  18. Al, remember the Yankees-Braves WS of 1996???? http://www.baseball-reference.com/postseason/1996_WS.shtml Brave beat the piss out of the Yankees in game one, 12-1, at Yankee Stadium. Braves shut out the Yankees in game 2, 4-0 at Yankee Stadium again, of course. So to recap, braves outscored the Yanks at home, 16-1. Up 2-0 in series, headed to Atlanta. Yankees then won 3 in the ATL, then went back to NY to win their 4th straight game....so don't count out your team just yet! Both bullpens are overworked....
  19. Image isn't showing up for some reason...
  20. Clearly, Fat Albert is past his prime...yep....a team would be foolish to offer him more than a 2 year deal.
  21. I liked Moore (until he got too old for the part around Octopussy era). He "was" Bond when I was growing up, I saw "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Moonraker" in the theater before I ever saw my first Connery bond film. Live and Let Die was the first Bond film I saw in the theater, long before you could rent films, so Sean Connery was pretty unknown to me as a kid. might have caught part of You Only Live Twice on tv before going to bed. So growing up, Moore was James Bond to me too. What's funny to me is that Roger Moore is actually older than Sean Connery, by 3 years.
  22. We are too young to get that reference! I see the youtube clip is from 2006, so this film is pretty old, amd CNR was still alive then!
