FFA, can you get Metro PCS where you live??? $40 a month on a dumb phone still gets you free unlimited text, minutes, and access to the internet...bought a $40 photo from Best Buy....If not them, check Wal-Mart they have a $30 plan which gets you 1000 minutes I think and $45 gets you unlimited everything... EDIT: Sorry, doesn't look like Metro PCS is available in your area yet...here is some info on the wal mart straight talk deals http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=straight+talk+cell+phone&ic=16_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=0

Don't know why, but my eyes missed that part earlier...still, I wonder how legal it is...(Edit to add, EVERYONE will have to give their SS # then, right??? )I guess paypal's lawyers have checked it out....anyone having this issue with google payments? I'd sure like to switch over to them, but somehow it's legal for ebay to tell sellers they can't ask for any payments outside of paypal...

Ok a bit of a head's up for once RARE film to be shown on
BERIGAN replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Interesting, didn't know Fox owned the rights, as I've never seen the remake... I wonder if the film will be 70 minutes, as imdb shows, or longer... -
The film, based on Faulkner's Sanctuary, has basically been out of circulation for...well, decades at least...read about why it's been out of circulation awhile ago, but forget if Faulkner got the rights back after a few years or what..no luck doing a search right now....Don't think it's controversial nature has anything to do with it...Saw it once, off a very poor transfer, looking forward to seeing a no doubt very good print tonight. You see Jack La Rue in a few films and you really scratch your head as to why he didn't become a major movie star...perhaps just too mean looking.... TCM PRIMETIME - WHAT'S ON TONIGHT: BOB'S PICKS 8:00 PM 71 min drama Story of Temple Drake, The (1933) A society girl gets mixed up with blackmail and murder after a vicious sexual assault. Dir: Stephen Roberts Cast: Miriam Hopkins, William Gargan, Jack La Rue. CLOSE LEONARD MALTIN REVIEW: D: Stephen Roberts. Miriam Hopkins, William Gargan, Jack La Rue, Sir Guy Standing, Florence Eldridge, Irving Pichel, Jobyna Howland, William Collier, Jr., Elizabeth Patterson, Louise Beavers. Flirtatious Southern belle Hopkins gets more than she bargained for one stormy night after a car wreck. This sizzling pre-Code adaptation of William Faulkner's Sanctuary is memorable for La Rue's stone-cold performance as Trigger, a sadistic thug. Highly controversial in its day. Watch for John Carradine as a courtroom spectator. Remade as SANCTUARY in 1961. REVIEW:

What I said last year! Hope it's a great one!

Well, I popped up on their radar now! Same email, and the website has a banner near the top of the page telling me to give them my info...just checked, in 60 days, I have grossed a whopping $301. So about $150 a month. I would have to average about $1667 a month to get to the 20K per year mark. Needless to say, I am not selling 200 items a month either.... Stefan, did you give in and give your SS# to them?

Amazing how healthy Mo has been through most of his career, and that he still is throwing 93... And WOW, Steinbrenner would have had to fire himself if that trade had happened!
-
WOW!!!! He pitches in home and away uni's, interesting!
-
Very nice story Patrick! I think the Indians will compete for quite some time...injuries just killed them this year.

EU music recordings copyright to be extended to 70 years
BERIGAN replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Claude, I didn't see page two somehow, and didn't read your posts... -
A friend of mine was bitching about this...forwarded the email. First one looked like a phishing email. Just mentioned new laws, without a link, but they said to go to paypal and give the info. So, she ignored that email. Then she said she saw at the top of the page that paypal did indeed want her Tax I.D. info. Why do they want it?? Oh, if you make 20 K + a year or have 200 transactions a month, they need this if. Ok..., fine 1099 and all that...BUT, here's the thing. She doesn't come even remotely close to either number! So, she tries to tell paypal this fact, no number to call, have to deal with a virtual agent or whatever at first. Then a phone number was given and talked to someone that said she needed to email some other department...She did email, and gets a form letter back saying, sorry she has to comply, no reason given, just do it...well, she then called again, and someone dug a bit, and found someone with half a brain who restored her account(forgot to mention that fact, she couldn't get her money out of her account) Glad she was able to get her account restored without giving out her SS#, but clearly something is up with Paypal. Check out this story. So, anyone else having this issue with Paypal????

EU music recordings copyright to be extended to 70 years
BERIGAN replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Great! Now I can expect the big companies to do really nice, complete re-issues of everything recorded by Bunny Berigan, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Jimmy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Louis Armstrong, and on and on...or not. Without Classics, Hep, Frog, JSP, etc, I would have heard less than 10% of their recorded output. Still isn't as much as many fans would like to see, and now never will be. Guess some of these companies will now make deals to have music released from Russia, or China! -
It's just because you are playing the hottest team in baseball, don't worry! braves looked like a last place team against them, then swept a double header yesterday against a decent Mets team.
-
Remember those folks that were trying to say having 4 #1's didn't necessarily mean the Phillies would be that great??? Wonder what those experts are saying now...(and Vance Worley is the best #5 ever!) Clearly, the Phils have the braves number now...we were 6-6 before this series (I think) I just hope the Phils haven't peaked early. Hope they beat the piss out of whatever team wins the AL championship....
-
Only if the Braves bullpen can start games. Tommy Hanson...slight tear("normal" wear) in his rotator cuff. I'd really like to see him not pitch again this year, but no, we will see him making high stress pitches in playoffs the braves are quite unlikely to go far in. Jair Jurrjens, Cy Young candidate before the all star game, now battling a bad knee and looking terrible. So that leaves, gutsy 36 year old sinkerballer Tim Hudson , Gutsy sinkerballer 38 year old Derek Lowe, and rookies Mike Minor and Brandon Beachy....don't think that will shut down the Rangers...or Red Sox....the Yankees... You'd be less inclined to think that if you had watched them over the entire season. As awesome as their best moments are, their bad moments are just as mind-numbingly...unnecessary. And you never know which will show up when, especially when it comes to pitching, starting and relief. Yep, that's what happens if you follow your team too closely, you see all the mistakes they make, and are convinced that they really suck! Braves fit that to a tee too. (Two for tea?) We might get swept by the Phils, or might sweep them this week(not very likely, but hey, it could happen) Get swept, and we fans will be convinced we will get swept in the first round of the playoffs, no matter who we play....

Digression thread: Coherence is overrated

I get it, I GET IT! -
So many people seem to have chronic issues with their hammys (Hammies?) Makes one wonder how Cal Ripkin never blew one out(I'm sure he at one point he strained one, but if he tore one...even he couldn't play, could he?) How did Ted Williams, Stan Musial, heck, even Babe Ruth play to or past 40??? A lack of being in shape, and lots of smokes and buds helped keep them strong??? Not when OGANDO! (and I'm keeping it like that just because the truly electrifying impact of his first half hasn't worn off yet) & the rest of the Rangers' starters (save for C.J. Wilson) look like they're lost their zip and/or location. If there's a second wind to be had (and there's no reason to believe that there shouldn't be), they need to get it ASAFP. But yeah, you can't throw chum up to that lineup of sharks and not expect to get eaten alive. And eaten alive we got. So many pitchers on your team have pitched more innings than they ever have, and during a terrible heat wave...Glad to see the Rangers are going to skip some starters starts... If your team can stay healthy, and can get past the Phils, anything is possible!

looking at the radar off of Wilmington's coast, it sure doesn't look like the storm is moving 15 MPH, does it??? Looks like it's center isn't moving up the coast, just spinning, which would be really bad news, in case you all didn't know that. http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/?lat=34.24169922&lon=-77.94360352&zoom=8&pin=Wilmington%2c%20NC&type=hyb&rad=1&wxsn=0&svr=0&cams=0&sat=0&riv=0&mm=0&hur=0

Dan, hope your Mom rides the storm out without any major issues! I haven't been able to find out if a storm surge is weakened along with the eye (what there is of one) going over land....about as hard a rain as I have ever seen, and morons are driving around Virginia Beach!
-
I'm guessing their dumb as bosses say do it or lose your job....
-
Again, damned if you do, damned if you don't...don't like him in the least, but....when would you shut the subways down??? What if the storm sped up a bit, arrived sooner??? What if the subways started to flood with SALT water, and got stuck, and dozens/hundreds drowned??? Plus, the people that work with Mass Transit need to be safe as well... Again, a lot of hyperbole, but when you hear that the Holland tunnel may fill with water...hopefully, it's not the disaster many are predicting, but better to be pissed off and stuck in the home/apartment for a weekend, than dead.
-
It really is a damned if you hype, damned if you don't hype situation...there are ALWAYS morons that don't listen, and some times they luck out, and other times when the reporters catch up with those that laughed the storm off that say they would never again ride a storm out. Clearly it's not a "strong" storm compared to Katrina or Camille (God help us if/when a Camille type hits land again) but the combination of size of the storm surge and the rain falling on areas like Philly and NYC already so water logged, will be devastating. Of course, if it jogs further east and misses most cities, the storm will be considered a huge joke, and people won't move the next time a storm comes ashore around NYC...
