Oh I absolutely agree, Jim. Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier had a huge impact; no doubt. We should never forget what that meant back then. All I'm saying is the Civil Rights movement of the late 40s, 50s and 60s coupled with the integration of the US Military in 1950 and Brown vs. Topeka or Plessy vs. Ferguson had a demonstrably larger impact on society than did Jackie Robinson in that regard. Well, true to a point, but people like Robinson, and Sidney Poiter(No Way Out, 1950 certainly the first A film with a large role for a "Black" Man, check Wiki for his bio) helped the masses see people of color as actually being... human beings... I have a photo of my Grandfather in the military around 1909 with several African-Americans in his unit in the same photograph. It was good ol' racist Woodrow Wilson that re-segregated the Federal government....

Well, I think it means (A few players have said this)if he hadn't persevered through the hell he went through, they wouldn't be playing today, which is a stretch, but who knows how long it would have been before an African-American got the chance to the be #2?

I think it's a joke he got suspended. However, he put the Marlins in a bad spot. Economically, they had few options. Well, not sure this fits into the free speech realm, since what he said will really hurt his bosses, and fellow employees. End of the year, he will still have 30+ HR's and 100 + RBI's and will play stellar defense... And no team can look as bad as the braves did being swept by the Mets....no hitting, overrated starters...we have a GM telling the press who will and won't be a starting pitcher weeks before spring training ends(A really clever GM would trade for Kris Medlen and have a guy who would win 12-15 games with a 3.50 ERA, but with the braves, he will be our 4th best bullpen guy) Medlen had a 0.82 era in S.T.(they wouldn't let him start anymore, cuz you know..he's 26, he is just a bullpen arm) Julio Teheran , AKA the next Pedro Martinez #1 had a sparkling 9.37 ERA , but just couldn't make the cut out of S.T. Nope, Randall Delgado, AKA the Next Pedro Martinez #2 beat him out with a microscopic 7.89 ERA. I am being really mean to them, they both pitched decently late last year but were both out of steam at the end of the season. Delgado is only 22, Teheran is only 21...but, they are clearly, CLEARLY not ready now...neither made it past 5 innings the entire spring. Medlen was 6-2 in 107 innings, in 2010, with a 3.68 ERA...then blew out his elbow...He should start, show other teams he can still start, and perhaps get traded for the outfielder we so desperately need. Doesn't anyone have a crowded outfield with a need for a good #3,4 starter? We can trade you Medlen and Prado...give our stoopid GM a call, he might finally wise up that the team that collapsed late last year is the same team they are trying to win with this year.

Angels probably have the better offense, but the Rangers not only have at least as good starting pitching (Darvish may be the best starter on the team, really looked impressive in the ST games), but have people like Ogando, that should be starting(at least on many other teams) back in the Pen. Don't think the Angels can withstand losing a starter . So...Rangers win the division, Angels w.c.(are there more Playoff teams?) NL EAST Phils win Division by a nose.
