Chuck, my Dad had his taken care of in his 50's...he never wore sunglasses , which did apparently speed up the process....It sure is easier these days, though I imagine you are told not to lift anything more than 10-15 pounds for a week or two...Dad said colors were quite different til the 2nd eye was done. One eye saw a blue traffic light, the other eye green!

Well, I feel crappy for not looking for my birthday thread! (besides, everyone seems to wish one a happy B Day via facebook these days )Days later it hits me, wonder if anyone here mentioned it? Of course! Anyway, nearly a week later, thanks for the kind words! older I get, the duller my Birthdays seem to get. Asked for and received two seasons of Columbo(2 and 4, had 1&3) and a used Annette Hanshaw cd I spotted cheap online! Oh feel the excitement! Then went to Outback, were we got a waitress, instead of a waiter! I think some guys will understand. It really doesn't take a lot to make me happy!

It's on at 3 AM EST tonight/tomorrow morning...have to shamefully admit I've never heard of it before! Anyone that's seen it, what say you??? I love the idea of seeing a phonograph facility in the early 30's, though I imagine it is someone like Modern Times, its going to exaggerate the operations, and won't be exactly what a record factory was like then.... D: Rene Clair. Raymond Cordy, Henri Marchand, Rolla France, Paul Olivier, Jacques Shelly, Andre Michaud. Classic satire on machinery and industrialization centering on the adventures of escaped prisoner Cordy, who becomes owner of a phonograph factory, and his former jail friend (Marchand), now a vagrant. Predates and equals MODERN TIMES in poignancy, with groundbreaking use of music. Arguably, Clair's masterpiece. More info...

If that's Irene Ryan, I'm gonna roll over with my paws in the air. Yep, that's her! I never would have guessed that...never seen a photo of her younger...

this is a tough one...I sure wouldn't have guessed! (tiny hint, you will know her name)

I guess since his son is also an ump, that explains part of the reason his name sounds so familiar. I wouldn't have guessed he hadn't umpired a game since 1998! No name under the pic of course, but assume that's him with his son???

That's a cool site!

Heh, thanks for the suggestions, and sorry...as Geraldine said, a long time again...the Devil made me do it! Haven't found anything quite that nice, and Kevin is right, a lot of junk typically at thrift stores. I went into one store and almost didn't bother looking at their lp selection since they only had about 20 lps sitting on a shelf...glad I did since there were about a dozen Cannonball Adderley LPs, that were practically mint! If I had come in a week later, they would have no doubt been covered in scratches, outside of their jackets. That would have made me So, even if 9 times out of 10, or 49 times out of 50 it's junk I find there, I'm going to make it a habit to check that store out every week or so. People working at the stores aren't likely to know Lawrence Welk from Duke Ellington, and they will consider it all old junk....plus living on the southside of Atlanta area I don't think there were be much interest in what I do find...

come on, someone else needs to pick up the slack here! -
Google "Bild letzte seite 1 girl". I guarantee your disappointment will be short-lived. My disappointment was 'long-lived'! hmmm, must not like blondes!

I've mentioned that recently gotten into vinyl after decades of not playing records...clearly there is some virus that you catch from merely touching records that makes you think that buying more records is really a great idea, when you already have quite a few, plus all those cds...but anywho...they are very cheap to buy these days, when you can find them. Plus, I HATE to see anything that is in pefectly good, useable condition ruined for no good reason. One place I recently went into had records jammed into a 4 foot wide magazine rack. The former book store employee in me put many records back in their jackets, grouped them by artist, spread them out so they wouldn't get harmed when someone did try to take them out, etc As you can imagine, quite a few records were damaged(including a recently nice Julie London Columbia Record club exclusive disc that is now cracked in several places ) so...I know I can't save everything, (and some stuff clearly still exists in the 10's of millions-how many records did Lawrence Welk sell, anyway?) but when records are 77 cents at goodwill (that store was asking $2.00 for records that would never make it onto anyone's player) this could be a win-win scenario. I can make some much needed moola, and I can save some music for someone else to enjoy. So...very long story short...sites like Musicstack, Discogs...are they decent? Or are there better sites (besides ebay) to look into??????

Parostatik Disc preeners....any reason they have disappeared?
BERIGAN replied to BERIGAN's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
I've used my trusty Discwasher D4 for decades. I will say that I think my old late 70s era brush is a lot better than the new ones in getting out heavy grunge. I also think that they changed the formula of the D4 liquid. The stuff I buy today smells weird. I used to zap my records with a Zerostat gun before cleaning with the D4 brush, but my old one died and a new "Milty" model is $100. Too much for what little it did. Did use guys see the comments on this cleaner? Seems they have cheaped out and they aren't so good anymore. The good news though is that Crosly seems to make a very nice one like the old Discwashers...(you should see them down the page) -
Jeff, sorry about this...with an 80 year old Father, the future flat out scares me! One question. You said "I wouldn't care if he had dementia if he was happy and enjoyed life.." I assume he has been tested for this??? If not, you know he could have something else going on...doctors and Non experts make assumptions based on age alone...I've known 60 year olds that seem to have a 100 year old brain, and people in their 90's that are sharper about things than I am! I have a friend who is in his 90's and he had to move into a fancy assisted living facility (since he and his daughter couldnt' get along) and it was really tough on him at first. His wife died years ago, he was I think the only African-American in the place..and his family was basically ignoring him thinking he was well cared for, so out of site, out of mind. Anyway, I know he was seeing a psychiatrist ,(Another example of people thinking, why would someone in their 90's go to one?) and it really helped him! Now, they clearly aren't cheap, and your Dad might balk at seeing one...just some thoughts... Best of luck...you are a good son, because you do care, and want the best for your Dad.

I'm with you, Brad. Williams should be the first to get booted from the league. they'd probably punish a team more for administering HGH to players...it would nice to be proven wrong this time...
