I only have a handful of cds from them, a 3 cd Benny Carter, a 3 cd Bing Crosby, and just got a 3 cd Jimmie Noone set, volume one (Doesn't look like they got to volume 2) Nice remastering, good sized booklet, alternate tracks...so, what happened?

Deus, you may already know this, but for others that don't or haven't tried.... I suggested for shits and grins to an jazz friend overseas that I copy some old tapes onto DVD and see if he could play the discs on his computer's dvd player, and he could!(IT was several months ago, but I think the Philips manual said something about finalized discs being in region 0?) I have a dvd recorder that uses DVD+R/DVD+RW discs only...has anyone tried the other way, having something recorded on a DVD recorder in Europe, and tried to play it in the states????
-
You asked this awhile back, but a region region 0 dvd should play on most dvd players worldwide....

Oh man, now my very tired head is really hurting! I tried clicking on both before, but the info stayed the same, I swears! You're gaslighting me, ain't ya? You control their site! ok, why is it that after you click on discography, it defaults to Compilations, which has less albums than Main album does??? Just now typed in Red Allen, and Compilations is in green. So, I click on Main Albums, and Compilations stays green, like there is no more albums to be found! I just tried it again...the page reloads...back to Compilations! I click on Compilations , and now Main Albums is in green...and all the listings I couldn't find are there now...will someone please look up ol' Red for me and see if this is the way it should be.....I know I should be in bed now.....

I know, I know it is Lee Hazelwood's song, so I understand to a point how he might not want the song messed with, but geez.....like Dave says, he cashed the royalty checks! Well, at least Dave doesn't seem the least bit bitter about this! The only disappointing aspect of the disc is the blatantly censored version of "These Boots." Dave Mustaine explains: "Some of you may be asking (don't feel alone, there were many others who did too), 'is 'Boots' going to be on the re-release?' "Well, unfortunately, there is a 'two-part' answer to your 1-part question. 1) Yes, and 2) No. Yes, the song is going to be including 'our version.' No, we had to change the "changes" I made to the original 'original' version. You see, initially the remake of 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' was a joke. I thought it was alright to have some fun with it, because the original version sucked. Lee Hazelwood, the song's original writer, didn't quite see the humor in this. But he or his handlers are bereft of more than a sense of humor. Upon hearing our version, we were notified that Lee Hazelwood had taken umbrage to our version and deemed it 'vile and offensive' or some shit like that. What is really vile and offensive is that the checks from the records we sold that were sent to him were cashed for ten years before he said anything about his being knighted and now morally superior to having the dosh. "I guess that was the same time he was suddenly struck with selective amnesia. Didn't he let Frank Sinatra's daughter record this song too? Wasn't Frank alleged to have had ties with the mafia? Since when is a red-headed guitarist more intimidating than the fucking mob? "It's great to see you have ascended to the moral mountaintop. I guess with your 'Seraph' status, you won't need the money we sent you from down here amongst the peasants. Hell, I think I see a mail carrier. It might just be a check from HRH as we speak. I'll get back to you later." Megadeth has wisely censored the song to like an episode of The Jerry Springer Show gone wrong (or right, depending on your views.) While the beeps can be annoying, they serve as a stern reminder of censorship and how much it truly sucks. In 1988, on So Far, So Good...So What!, Mustaine wrote: "A slouch with fallen arches, purging truths into great lies, A little man with a big eraser, changing history."—"Hook In Mouth" Many fans have already dubbed the remix "These Beeps Are Made For Walking." Here's to hoping that metal-sludge.com extends an "F.U. Award" to ol' Lee. http://culturedose.bravepages.com/review_10002481.html

I wasn't that aware of it at first, but doesn't it seem as if they have "purged" some titles of late??? Some seem to still be there, but not if you look up by artist! I was going to ask about a "Charly" Charley Parker box set, but couldn't find it listed...in fact...there was only about 30 titles listed! I thought, there must be a page 2 tab I am missing, or list all titles like before...but if it is there, it is hiding pretty well. I thought, well, I haven't signed in in awhile, perhaps they don't let you see the complete list without signing in! Nope, not the problem either... Just commented on a Red Allen cd, and was going to mention a JSP with alternates...but only a dozen or so titles are listed! No JSP's, nor the Collector's classic series cds..but, you can click on the thumbnail on the first page on Red and get to The Henry Allen Collection, Vol. 6 (1941-1946) Thought perhaps they had the other releases under his 2nd listing on their site, the one not in bold...nope.... Then I go to Red Nichols....only 15 or so titles listed. The Jazz oracle label cd, Red Nichols On Edison 1924-1927 has a thumbnail to click on, but no jazz oracle titles to be found in the 15 listed! The Classics release for the years 1925-27 has a thumbnail(I am just now noticing that the 5 thumbnails rotate with new ones coming from the left! ) but, no classics are listed.... I remember trying to look up an old group from the 60's, Blonde on Blonde a few weeks back. Several groups by that name, but couldn't find the group, or the title of the cd I had in my hand....just for laughs, I looked up by song, and viola, there was the album, review and all....anyone else notice this, or is someone gaslighting me??? Hell, I couldn't even find the old allmusic thread , kept coming across images posted from allmusic instead!

check out consumer advocate Clark Howard's site on buying a used car....I know he is against buying a leased car, but more from the get go than buying one that was a leased car... http://clarkhoward.com/library/tips/used_car.html -

I was visiting the father of a friend in Denver last February. The Denver resident was angry (more like, really pissed off) that there are water restrictions in Denver but not in Arizona. He says it's not right that the water used in Arizona is FROM Colorado. That, the people in Colorado are water-restricted but the people in Arizona are not. I asked him, "Do you know why there are no water restrictions in Arizona?" He responded, "Why?" I said, "Because we don't put up with shit like that in Arizona." The guy wanted to punch me. Yeah, that is interesting! I stayed with my Uncle in Sherman Oaks(used to be some other city) and they charge by the amount you use, and it is very expensive, but you can use as much as you want! Seems a bit screwy, but then again , the water restricters in the shower meant that I had to shower 3 times as long to get all the soap out of my long hair....so no water saved that way either....
-
a guy who has cared for an old car, can you tell folks???? Listen to him! We have to watch what day of the week it is, since we have mandatory water restrictions in place....of course, with the 5-6 inches of rain we have gotten every week for the last month or so, it's hard to find a dry day to wash the cars....

I am quite offended!!!! Why isn't that image sharper, and brighter???

Here in Atlanta, we got much more rain than "they" said we would, but the wind was not nearly as bad as the previous storms..Mom didn't have to miss Radiation this time! A friend of mine in Duluth (Ga, northeast of Atl) suffered some major flood damage from the last storm, and he is working in Albany Ga right now, hundreds of miles away...I think he doesn't even care if his house flooded again, just about everything was damaged at ground level the last time!

I find not exercising keeps me from pulling my hammy! Stretching before exercise 'can cause harm' By Jeremy Laurance, Health Editor 28 September 2004 You see them everywhere, people yanking an ankle behind their back before setting off on a jog. It looks like sensible preparation for exercise, but it may do more harm than good. Not only does it fail to reduce the risk of injury, it may also hinder performance. Research on 23 studies of athletes who performed stretch exercises before performance tests of sporting performance showed nearly all had a bad effect. One study showed that static stretching before a jump test reduced the maximum height by three-quarters of an inch. A review of six studies of stretching before exercise found that not one demonstrated it prevented injury. Ian Shrier, a Canadian epidemiologist who conducted both reviews, in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, said: "At first people thought I was crazy." But other researchers had since reached similar conclusions, he said. The best way to prevent injury and prepare for exercise was to do a proper warm-up routine to get blood flowing to the muscles, he said. Doing calf stretches before a run does not benefit the leg muscles because they are never stretched in the extreme position while running. Almost all over-use injuries are strains that occur when the body is in the normal range of motion and are the result of improper training. But stretching should not be ruled out. Dr Shrier, of the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, found seven other studies which showed how regular stretching exercises included as part of an exercise routine improved performance. "If one stretches, one should stretch after exercise or at a time not related to exercise," Dr Shrier said. James Brown, a specialist in sports medicine in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, and spokesman for the UK Association of Doctors in Sport, said: "Stretching before exercise probably increases the risk of injury. Your muscles are never going to get warm. Unfortunately you do still see people doing it everywhere. You won't see elite athletes doing it. They will do a warm-up. If you go jogging or to the gym at lunchtime there is no need to stretch first." WARMING UP * Start with a gentle warm-up, of the muscles you plan to use * Increasing blood flow to muscles gets them contracting the way they will need to for the exercise * Stretching after exercise is recommended * Static stretching can stiffen muscles http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/health_me...sp?story=566457

I am in complete agreement with Jim. Especially Cowboy in Sweden, Requiem for an Almost Lady, and the stuff he did with Sanford Clark. As for Megadeth: When will people finally realize that ironic covers aren't funny? They're just dumb. Well, Megadeth covered the song back in the 80's (1985) on a tiny label, irony was most likely not the formost thought in their minds....they just wanted to do a raw cover...it was off the Killing is my business cd for years and years.....ever here the song???? here is the first 30 seconds, and the word sex is beeped out for God's sake! >bleepity bleep< a little later on in the song...why bother putting it on cd with all the "bad" words bleeped??? >wait, more hi-larious beeping< Lee Hazelwood my be a great songwriter, but man....seems like a prude to me....

He may have thought Bart Simpson was voiced by a real child and figured he'd best stay away completely. Favorite headline from the Onion: Pete Townsend Can't Explain Now, now DTMX! Of Course, Michael Jackson did not sing with Bart once he found out that Bart wasn't really a boy....

jeeze, tough break. the one guy who'd give you a pardon... AND YOU KILLED HIM!!! You and Paula Poundstone have a similar sense of humor! Old ass joke, only me an a few other people would remember it.... The guy who shot Robert Kennedy, Sirhan Sirhan, goes up for parole every year. Once he even told the parole board that if Kennedy was alive today, he would speak in his favor and say let him go. What a tough break, you know? The one guy who would have supported him, and he shot him. (Paula Poundstone) http://www.bluedonut.com/100jokes.htm
