  1. 3 YEARS, AND NO SEX???????? HE'S GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was expecting from Rooster feeling the need to send a comment back to Prudence , that she had given the woman a hard time. IF what she is saying is true, he refuses to have sex, after 1000 days and nights together, I believe Prudence is right, there is no hope! It would be one thing after 10 years this(lack of sex) was the norm, but this is nuts. He is clearly being selfish, he couldn't care less about her needs. Her self esteem is in the dumps right now. None of her friends will be able to relate, they might have known a night or two when they didn't jump each others bones, but 3 years????? I don't really believe the fear of more children is the main problem. Put her on the pill and slip a sock on it, if he is so damned afraid of another kid! He could be picturing her as "Mom" now, but 3 years he should have been able to overcome that. It would be interesting to hear more from this couple, wouldn't it?....Does no sex mean no sex, of any kind??? No oral sex, or mutual masturbation??? If that is the case, perhaps my joke at the beginning wasn't so far off.....
  2. Uh--how many times, in any sport, have you seen statements like this come back to bite the speaker right on the jock? (See, not all of us Yankee fans are arrogant... 1982-94 was enough to put a little humility into anybody.) Didn't hear that Ghost! Javy Lopez said something stupid like that just before their series, something about how the Braves had been in place all year, while the Cubbies added players all year long... I think the Red Sox REALLY need to win tonight, they just don't have the starting pitching the Yankees have, and if there is a split going back to New York, it just won't be the least bit easy....if it goes six or 7 games, anyone going to bet against the Yanks????
  3. now that is a good idea!!!!
  4. Shift key breaks CD copy locks Last modified: October 7, 2003, 10:58 AM PDT By John Borland Staff Writer, CNET News.com A Princeton University student has published instructions for disabling the new anticopying measures being tested on CDs by BMG--and they're as simple as holding down a computer's Shift key. In a paper published on his Web site this week, Princeton Ph.D. student John Halderman explained how he disabled a new kind of copy-protection technology, distributed as part of a new album by BMG soul artist Anthony Hamilton. Under normal circumstances, the antipiracy software is automatically loaded onto a Windows machine whenever the Hamilton album is run in a computer's CD drive, making traditional copying or MP3 ripping impossible. However, simply holding down the Shift key prevents Windows' AutoRun feature from loading the copy-protection software, leaving the music free to copy, Halderman said. The technique was confirmed by BMG and SunnComm Technologies, the small company that produces the anticopying technology. Both companies said they had known about it before releasing the CD, and that they still believed the protection would deter most average listeners' copying. "This is something we were aware of," BMG spokesman Nathaniel Brown said. "Copy management is intended as a speed bump, intended to thwart the casual listener from mass burning and uploading. We made a conscious decision to err on the side of playability and flexibility." The ease with which Halderman and others have disabled BMG and SunnComm's latest copy-protection techniques illustrates the delicate balance that record labels and technology companies are trying to strike in protecting content without angering listeners. SunnComm's technology is the most flexible version of CD copy-protection to hit the market yet. It includes "pre-ripped" versions of the songs on the CD itself, each of which can be transferred to a computer, burned to CD several times, or transferred to many kinds of portable devices. These differ from unrestricted MP3 files in that only limited copies can be made, and not every portable music device can play them. The Anthony Hamilton CD is the first release in this new generation of copy-protected CDs that come preloaded with these "second session" tracks designed for use on a computer, a strategy also being pursued by SunnComm rival Macrovision. Record labels have pushed for these tracks, mostly provided in Microsoft's Windows Media format, to be included on copy-protected CDs in order to ameliorate consumers' concerns about not being able to use their music on computers. SunnComm CEO Peter Jacobs said the technology--which will be improved in future versions--should still be attractive to record companies. Though simple, the act of holding down the Shift key in order to enable copying does let computer users know they're doing something unauthorized, he said. That alone will dissuade many people from making copies, he added. "This is not an all-or-nothing thing," Jacobs said. "People can break into your house, because there's lots of information out there on how to pick locks. But that knowledge doesn't mean you don't buy a lock." In order to fully prevent the antipiracy software from loading, a listener has to hold the Shift key down for a long period of time, at exactly the right time, every time they listen to the CD on a computer. Moreover, anyone who doesn't load the software won't get access to the second session tracks, which on future CDs will increasingly include videos and other bonus material, record company insiders say. For his part, Halderman says the workaround is so simple that it's hard to fix. Nor is he worried about falling afoul of laws that make it illegal to describe how to get around copy-protection measures. "I hardly think that telling people to push Shift constitutes trafficking in a (copy-protection technology) circumvention device," Halderman said. "I'm not very worried." http://news.com.com/2100-1025_3-5087875.ht...ml?tag=nefd_top
  5. Nice avatar, Berigan. Thanks, I found it myself! Say, what's the implication of the mid-eastern smilie? I don't know when to use it. Funny, I always saw it as a Ninja kind of thing, but I guess it can be seen either way....I use it when I am bored with the other ones! Just use it when showing shock I guess...talking about when to use one...how about this one????
  6. Yeah, first the Red Sox game, then this! Notice how few fans are stil there???
  7. Man, I have been focusing more on the NL, than the AL, but damn, Red Sox VS. the Yankees. If the Red Sox just could bet the Yankees....oh, too much to hope for....
  8. Ah yes...match game!!! I used to watch that all the time as a kid...that's when manly men were on game shows, Charles Nelson Reilly, Paul Lynde... Always liked Gene Rayburn.... Anyone watch the game show network??? I have watched black and white overnight a few nights when my Mom was having trouble sleeping, and have caught shows such as I'VE GOT A SECRET, What's my Line, etc....and have learned about such "famous" folk as Arlene Francis, Dorothy Kilgallen...they seem like snobbish blue bloods, but damn, they really do seem well read, use them big words, I think it would be hard to do shows like theirs today.....
  9. Here is the thread I started about Past Perfect, it just took off like wildfire! http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...?showtopic=3610

  11. Am the only one who thinks the threads on Rush and Fox belong in the Political section??? Everyone knows politics is going to creep in these threads.... If it doesn't bother anyone, can I start posting nearly naked women in the "Artist" forum??? :rsmile:
  12. Get DSL, don't be so cheap!
  13. Braves still can't hit! Braves have come back from worse things, but to lose the first game at first and to come back will be tough....smart of Javy to say there was no way Cubs could beat Braves! Kerry Wood and Mark Prior might be the best pitchers in the game right now, next to Jason Schmidt...a former Brave...imagine how the Braves could roll thru the playoffs if they had kept Schmidt, and Millwood, to go with Ortiz and Hampton!!!!
  14. Man, this shit gets so annoying!!!! I have twice run into problems just looking for photos for the babes page! (honest, not looking for porn! ) I was doing a google search on the late Johnny Carson Movie time girl Carol Wayne, and came across a link that I think was in German (Or was it Portuguese? ) and when I clicked on the link it was trying to download some software, not like that Gator software crap, this was something that there was no way to back out of ,and even McAfee software thru up it's arms , saying it couldn't do anything, and the popup window(I have pop-up stopper as well, this was one of those gray windows) from the nasty site said if I didn't download software, my computer would be wrecked! So disconnected my DSL, and shut computer off. When it came back, I used system restore to go back a day, and ran a complete check on my harddrive...nothing showed up. And just a day or so ago, I had a similar problem with looking up a obscure female celeb at a foreign site, and got a choice to download some unwanted software, choose no, and it STILL went ahead with it! So did the same thing all over again! Bastards!!!!
  15. I'll say! you should have sold the dvd 2 months ago for 100 bucks!
  16. Little turd got what he deserved! Anyone as young as he is wearing a bow tie should be punished! And what the hell did he expect???? Glad to see politics stays just on the politics forum! Which photo of the wimp to you like most???? "I'm so mad! I'm gonna tell my Mommy!"
  17. You know what is sad??? I saw the line about lips, a thought came to my dirty little mind....the saw Mr. Sangrey had the same idea.... then I saw connoisseur's repost of the photo, and thought, Oh My God, it's Ralphie as an adult!!!! Then I saw your post....

You can sell a mosaic set down the road if you need the dough, try doing that with your wrinkled old hide! Though I have heard that if you are covered head to toe in tats, you can sell your hide when you die to.....some organization....my mind is like an encyclopedia it is......
  19. In case anyone wants to know a bit about the original version...(I always thought it was made in 1932, being that it was shot in 1930 makes it all the more impressive!) http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=1:43081
  20. Yeah, but you have to buy >this< deluxe set to get the original 1932 classic!!! Oh and check out how it mentions an alternate ending!!!! "Iss ok, it jus' a flesh wound!"
  21. There didn't seem to be much interest when I posted this on AAJ board, so thought I would post verbatim here! An interview with Chubby Jackson!!!! Someone saw that I had asked on some board awhile back(the Harlem board?) about why we didn't hear anything from Chubby Jackson these days, so he was kind enough to give me a link to their site, and said I could post the article....The site is pretty interesting, haven't had a chance to check it all out....I will post the link to the article with the photos at the bottom of this thread, just thought some might find it easier to read in bold text first.... Chubby Jackson (Greig Stewart Jackson) was born in New York City in 1918. His greatest and most memorable body of work came from Woody Herman's First and Second Herds of the mid-to-late 1940's. In that band, along with drummer Dave Tough and later Don Lamond, he was the support and lifeline in the rhythm section but also the cheerleader, vocal and exuberant, leading on the excellent soloists as though it were a sporting event. According to Woody Herman, the catalyst for the first and second herd's amazing cohesiveness and espirit d'corps, was Chubby Jackson. These were Woody's sentiments: "What an immense influence he (Chubby Jackson) had on us! And what enthusiasm! He used to get around to hear everything. He was always screaming about this musician and that musician. He'd been with Charlie Barnet, along with Ralph Burns, Neal Hefti and Frances Wayne, and he kept telling us we should hire them. So we did, and you know how much they've meant to us!" After Herman broke up the band, Jackson went on to play with Charlie Ventura's Septet where he further explored the avenues of bebop interjecting it with the great sense of swing from which Chubby was rooted. He also did recordings and toured as a leader and co-leader with his pal, the legendary trombonist, Bill Harris. In the 1950's he spent a lot of time doing studio work and even hosted a television program for children. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We conducted this interview with the help of his loving daughter Jaijai Via Cyberspace E-Mail and Fax Chubby's daughter, Jaijai, is now producing a jazz legend series for television... Þrst one being on her father... Here are her sentiments toward her dad... "My father has been such a powerful force in my life, he has taught me how to look at life with a smile on my face and has introduced me to an art-form of music that is evergreen. I will keep our heritage alive with all that I am, thanks Dad, for your talent, the laughs, your faithful spirit and most of all the love you give to me, I am blessed to have you as my Dad" I promise to teach your six year old grand-daughter Chloe Zae all about you - we love you, Jaijai The Interview The Jazz Zine Woody Herman's First Herd broke new ground in "Big Band Jazz," with some aggressive writing coming from Neal Hefti, Ralph Burns and Woody himself. For myself, I can vividly remember listening to radio broadcasts that were sponsored by Wildroot Cream Oil and Old Gold cigarettes (containing Apple Honey) and being stunned by the new and daring approach that would change Big Band Jazz forever. This was avant-garde for that time but not far out. This music was exciting, vibrant and fresh. The band was alive and your bass playing along with drummer Davey Tough and later Don Lamond were the spine and backbone which supported the band.Tell us what the atmosphere was like in those days. Were most of the sidemen aware that something new and fresh was being created? Did Woody give a lot of leeway to the writers and soloists to expand their ideas? Chubby Jackson The atmosphere plus the personal attitudes of Woody and the entire Herd had its' own title that I call "Love Is The Answer". Top drawer for counter respect for one another was tremendously aided by the spirit that exploded from that particular bandstand day and night. Woody recognized the outstanding outgoing talent and gave us all a go ahead sign in regard to some of the daredevil patterns we attempted. All of us sidemen were unbelievably grateful to Woody for his open hearted approach to all of us. How well I remember how all in fun, we compared ourselves to the Chicago Bears professional football team that created one victory after another. I truly do not think or recall that any other big band that sponsored jazz ever had the obvious fire and excitement that the First Herd had. What a band! The Jazz Zine You were, no doubt, the most vocal member of that band. Yelling everyone on, whooping it up behind the soloists. Was this the most fun you'd ever had in your musical career? Chubby Jackson There was ever never any doubt that I had positioned myself to become the cheerleader that egged every member to openly scream congratulations to one another at the completion of their individual choruses. Even the audiences were shouting the same types of compliments which made their reactions to all of us extremely heart warming. To add, we also did the same amount of happy screaming when the band recorded. All of that down deep concept of fun most certainly proved itself beyond compare. The Jazz Zine Owing to the size and spectrum of Woody's First Herd, your playing came through solid and you seemed to do a lot of things differently. I got the feeling that you went out on a limb many times. The beauty of it was, you never seemed to get lost. When asked, many bass players, during those times, would cite Jimmy Blanton as their idol or main influence. Frankly, I didn't hear him coming from your playing. To my way of thinking, you seemed to create a new energetic approach to the bass. Who were your first influences on the instrument? Chubby Jackson I'm proud that I can openly say that I was influenced by two bassists at the time that I entered the fray with my bass that I called "Bessie." I bought it for $3.00 from my mentor Arnold Fishkind who at that time was playing with the swingin' Bunny Berigan Big Band. Without any doubt or question, Jimmy Blanton walked into my life on bass with a brand new approach on how to accompany a big band, which of course was the Duke himself. I've always felt that influence is necessary, but from then on began to find and discover one's own creative direction. I must proudly admit that Drummer Davey Tough that I played with in the First Herman Herd taught me what areas of the fingerboard to address from the ensemble sound along with the soloists. Even though I had added a top C string, he pointed out to stay down low on so many parts of an arrangement. Go from under and work up to some highs plus the exact opposite. Stay in the same range that the band is at certain times. In other words, he showed me how to explore. The Jazz Zine That First Herd had some outstanding and very original soloists. To date, I feel no one has ever approached the wide and wonderful execution of the trombone as Bill Harris did. And Flip Phillips could be warm and romantic on the ballads, and swing like hell on the up tempo numbers. Who did you hang out with in the band? And, could you give us any particular interesting favorite story to share with us? Chubby Jackson To date, my favorite gentleman on trombone was and still is without question his honor Bill Harris. What a creative musician he was. He used to play differently every time he stood up to solo. The band used to impatiently await his turn and when he sat down, the entire band would visibly let him know how they felt. Flip Phillips is definitely a then and now giant. He's still playing festivals all over wherever with a fantastic sound and audience appeal. In the trumpet section, all the gents had their own sound and sense of time. Neal Hefti, Sonny Berman, Conte Candoli, Pete Candoli and lastly Shorty Rogers. Ralph Burns to me was a pianist/arranger second to none. Billy Bauer who now is a famous guitar teacher taught us a great deal about his conception of guitar. Lastly, my two favorite drummers in the First Herd Davey Tough and Don Lamond. Every member of this orchestra were also close friends and musical associates. It was the most exciting in my entire life. The Jazz Zine When the band first introduced numbers like Apple Honey, Goosey Gander, Wildroot and Northwest Passage, how were they first received at dances and concerts when the audience might still be expecting to hear Woodchooper's Ball? Chubby Jackson When the moment arrived that numbers like apple Honey, Goosey Gander, Wildroot and Northwest Passage became no less than most famous, the audiences that showed up at the dances, concerts, hotels theaters all were all dyed-in-wool fans of whatever we played. If anybody requested "Wood Chopper's Ball, the existing First Herd played it with their own private feeling. The solos were completely different and the rhythm section possessed a beat that belonged totally to them. All of the aforementioned songs appearing in the First sentence up top were called Head arrangements. Not one note of music was written on paper and their inception. Later on, specific written material was added to the Herman library in event that there were any replacements for the original players. To add it all up, the First Herd was a fantastic contribution to the art of the American Jazz culture. Thank you Woody........ 22. But think of the color blind!!!!
  23. So Mr. Larsen, ready to admit Dusty isn't THAT bad a manager???? I have had to admit Bobby Cox must do something right as well...well, they can still screw up nicely come the playoffs.... Cubs vs. Braves!!! Crap!!! I started rooting for the Cubbies in 1983 when I first got cable, and rooted for the Braves as well on cable...Cubbies won the east(remember them in the east?) in 1984, and the Padres ruined one of the best potential series ever, the Cubs VS. Tigers!!!! Then the Cubs got rid of ballgirl Marla(was that her name?) and I started to pay more attention to the Braves, even though they lost all the time, til 1991...so, needless to say, mixed emotions! I think since Atlanta has gotten spoiled, and AOL/TimeWarner claims poorness, I think I will be rooting for the Cubbies! And damn, their 4 starters could just tear up the Braves I think. But it is still a 5 game series, correct??? So a 3 game winning streak is all any team needs. If the Cubs get past the Braves/Giants/Marlins, look out Ghost, they will get the damned Yankees yet!!! Now, if the Red Sox somehow got past the Yanks, damn....who to root for??? Cubs??? Red Sox??? Damn! JSngry is right, it just would be too much...a true sign of the end of mankind's rule on earth....
  24. I'll come back and turn this back into a Border's employee thread soon, but until then, here is what the coupon really looks like.... http://www.ciscopress.com/promos/promos.as...F-E973F101675B}
