  1. Truck???? Truck??? what is the truck??? confused as usual....
  2. MY Copy was getting dusty, so glad you asked so I had an excuse to bring it out! First 10 tracks are pre mike, so be prepared! They sounded pretty damn old on my big speakers, but on the computer speakers, not bad at all. Then you get to the classic Victor sides from 1932! Super hot! Just like thrash metal, not the kind of music to have on in a traffic jam, or if there is no traffic at all ahead of you! Disc one ends with 2 very good songs IMO called Blackstick, and Southern Sunset . Southern Sunset in particular is just plain beautiful! Well, that's all I have time to listen to today, but disc two has Noble Sissle, and Tommy Ladiner tracks, disc 3 has one of his one man band tracks, Sheik of Araby(forget what the other track was, don't think it is on this set)where he plays Cl, SS, TS, P, B, and D! Multi Track recording of a sort...Some great Commodore, Blue Note tracks on disc 4...and the great mini book booklet, in other words, you will get your 20 bucks worth with this set! B)
  3. Gee guys, hope none of you ever is charged with a crime(That you did not commit, of course) and gets a bunch of jurors like yourselves! Hang em'! Hang em' quick, I got a life! I'm important! I have only been called once, and even though it was going to cost me money, I did think it was my civic duty....they do call way too many people though...there seemed to be hundreds of us for one trial...and damn, everyone was griping so after a few hours, you'd a thought they were having their flesh stripped from their bodies...the judge made an appearance and said their had been a plea bargain, and well, it was a good thing for us, since it was going to be a murder trial, and we were all going to be sequestered for the duration!!!!
  4. I guess he showed them, eh? With a face like that, they ought to do a background check, he has to be guilty of something!
  5. Oh, I don't know, some strippers could do that....It makes my bad back hurt seeing that, so I guess that was one of the reasons I picked that one...if B3-er would make the avatar option bigger, it would have been much cooler! Hope you find my latest choice more soothing....
  6. Well, perhaps I am overreacting a bit, saw just a comment, then opened the letter attached...here is what you can do about it, and may want to do right away after reading this! There is a new feature that makes it possible to type a telephone number into Google's search bar, click the search button, and have a MapQuest or Yahoo page returned as a result. Any person wishing to discover the physical location of a phone number, be it a home or business address, could use this feature to locate a physical street address, and receive explicit directions on how to get there from anywhere in the country. One positive use of this feature could be to determine the location of, say, an party for whom you may only have a telephone number. On a negative note, this feature could also be used by an angry party to find out where you live. Google has made available an option that will allow anyone to remove their telephone number from the database that is linked to the mapping feature. You will first need to check if your number is listed in this manner by attempting a search - entering your full telephone number separated by dashes (e.g., 202-555-1212). If the number appears in the mapping database, an icon resembling a telephone will appear next to the first or second entry on the results page. Clicking on this icon will take you to a page containing a description of the service, and a link to request your number be removed from the database. Many people are unaware of this danger. I personally, don't want any "Tom, Dick, or Harry" having a direct map (and the map IS perfect) to my house just by having my phone number. Go to www.google.com then type in your phone number. See how accurate the map is.... linked to your phone number.
  7. (Then again, maybe you will!) I just saw an email about this, and sure enough there it was!!!! Ok, I then typed the number of a friend who I am pretty sure has an unlisted number,(His Dad and he share the same name, it may be because of his Dad) and it came up with his name next to the number! I mean, great if you forget someone's name, but have a number written down, but has google become too good???? Someone could just mess around with numbers, find someone and claim to know them when they didn't! Perhaps I am just overreacting???
  8. Simple Question... Have you read the Thread... Sorry someone did that to me on a BB.. never went back.. don't want to chase you away... but Hell read what is above your post.. both pages Gee, thought I did read it... All seemed to be about the 4-CD boxes. Must have missed something. BTW, I have the Nat King Cole box, "Cool Cole." It's a good starter set. The sound is not the best, but considering the price, acceptable. I mentioned them, but don't have any...if anyone thought the Bechet was a 2 cd set i got for 8-9 bucks, it was a single cd set that I have along with the 4 cd set...my wording could have been better... a couple of proper pairs I would like to get someday are Merle Travis, Lucky Millinder , Tiny Bradshaw, Kay Starr....too bad they never seem to be in stores...has anyone seen any proper cds in stores that were not single cds????
  9. Yeah, yeah, whatever...the important things to remember, are that I have passed you in number of posts, and for you to come up with a witty remark for the thread called...Bong building confidence Good to see ya back, even if only once in a while!
  10. God, I had no idea a goldfish could live that long! Hope he makes it for a while longer!
  11. Well.......a quick check of the discography, there are going to be a few vocals (Few meaning many!) But some will be good with Boswell sisters, Bing, Billie, Mildred, Midge Williams...I think Lon, Ghost, PD and others will see a fair bit that they already have in their collection...a couple of interesting things Highlights from the set include: -Rare sessions featuring Fred Rich, Ben Selvin, Ed Kirkeby and the many ARC house band sessions enlivened by Berigan solos; -Six sides with the Boswell Sisters and six more with Connie Boswell, including a previously unknown alternate on “You’ll Never Get to Heaven That Way;” -Studio pick-up dates with Billie Holiday, Mildred Bailey, Bing Crosby, The Dorseys, Billie Holiday, Dick McDonough, The Mound City Blowers, Red Norvo, Adrian Rollini. Lee Wiley, and Glenn Miller leading his very first date; -Berigans’ “For Theater Use Only” recordings, never marketed at the time and reserved for movie house play, which are extremely rare. -Five previously unissued performances include two from a Mildred Bailey Parlophone date and one from Bunny’s session on Parlorphone and one from one of his Brunswick sessions Hadn't heard about the Theater Use only recordings, was anyone else? I have a fairly scratchy shoestring LP somewheres that has some rare (And very worn) tracks that were 30 second solos, recorded to test equipment, or something like that(Damn, need to find the lps to make more sense!) Also, BUNNY BERIGAN AND HIS BOYS: Bunny Berigan (tp, vcl), Artie Shaw (cl), Forrest Crawford (ts), Joe Bushkin (p), Tommy Felline (g), Mort Stulmaker (B), Stan King (d), Chick Bullock (vcl). NYC, April 13, 1936 19012-1 A Melody From The Sky (CB-vcl) Voc 3224 19013-1 I Can’t Get Started (BB-vcl) Voc 3225 19014-1 A Little Bit Later On (CB-vcl) Voc 3224 19015-1 Rhythm Saved The World (CB-vcl) Voc 3225 Note: Epic LG 3109 (LP) and Classics 734 (CD) has edited versions of matrices 19012 and 19015 Edited versions?????

  13. from Dvdplanet.com . Do they mean 5-6 lines down, few performances never filmed, or ever filmed? They say DVDM, but then it means most of their performances were filmed? Actor/Actors: Led Zeppelin Synopsis: Atlantic Records is proud to announce a landmark event in music history- the release of the mother lode of Led Zeppelin live recordings: Led Zeppelin DVD, a two disc set. This marks the first official release of these legendary performances. Clocking in at nearly five and a half hours, Led Zeppelin DVDM has been culled from the few performances which were never filmed during the band's lifetime: London's Royal Albert Hall in January 1970, just one year after the release of their debut album; their triumphant five night run at London's Earl's Court in May 1975; and their record breaking shows at England's Knebworth Festival in August 1979; just one year before the death of drummer John Bonham. Also included are songs from Madison Square Garden in July 1973. Disc 1: Live At The Royal Albert Hall - 1969 Songs included: 1. We're Gonna Groove 2. Can't Quit You Babe 3. Dazed and Confused 4. 14. Well, it has been a few years, but I seem to recall that it started kind of slow, and has some of that ..And then the 6 year old Rowland said, "Gee Mom, do I have to go to church?" I hate when you read a Non-fiction book and they start to imagine how conversations went....but once you get past that, it's pretty good...the author Robert Dupuis, does a good job of conveying the excitement other musicians felt hearing Bunny for the first time, or just how they would stay up late as kids to hear a broadcast....and there were a few bandmembers still alive to interview of course( I think clarinetist Joe Dixon is still alive, but not sure) Lee Wiley lost a little luster in my eyes, since it sounded like she really enjoyed getting him really drunk( I have read she wasn't so nice to Jess Stacy either)....some things I would rather not know about people I did like the anecdotal tales, stuff that sounds like if they made a film from the book, no one would believe...like him hitting a bucket of golfballs out of his hotel window one at a time, or the band being in the deep south, and because a diner would not serve the black "bandboy" (Egad, that is hard to type, but this was the 30's!) Bunny first, and the rest of the band took the top off of every salt shaker, dumped the contents, and left. The author also makes the point that back in the late 30's/early 40's ,A.A. hadn't really caught on, plus the fact EVERYONE drank, that there was little help/hope for an alcoholic then.....I find downward spiral stories pretty sad as well, and reading about a head on collision with fate is not my cup of tea, but all and all, if you like him, it is worth reading. I felt the author came into his own about half way thru the book.... Ghost, let us know what you think..........of the book that is!
  15. I had seen this cd sitting on the used cd shelf at Tower for awhile, $7.99. At the Atlanta store at least, all orange stickered used cds are half off! So grabbed it, pretty good, some rare tracks (5 minute version of On the Sunny Side of the Street from a broadcast Transcription) Anyway, decent sound, from this "non-profit label dedicated to Louis Armstrong and his music" But, why did they start in 1935???? Any Guesses? Decca stuff not in print in 1989? I also thought the label must have been long out of print, since I don't recall seeing the cds in stores, but the other volumes are listed still at B&N for sale, even though many are "out of stock"
  16. I was racking my brain trying to figure what I heard her on, since I don't have that cd, then it occurred to me, to quit thinking, and use Allmusic! Nows I get it, it was on two different Ben Webster cds I have! Without That Gal! Is on an ASV Webster cd, and Just a Crazy Song (Hi-Hi-Hi) is on a BOJ cd...a reason to get a compliation cd now and then, eh? She is also mentioned on the RST Reuben Reeves & Omer Simeon cd....I recall a woman singing, but didn't know it was her! Will have to dig that great cd up again...the 2 songs seem pretty catchy, let us know what you think of the whole cd of hers!
  17. Braves are somehow tied for 1st! Wish I could care . You just shouldn't be able to get rid of Glavine and Millwood, and still compete! But, it is early yet.....Wish I could watch my other team (well, grew up a Cards fan) the Cubbies, but they took WGN off my cable system a year ago. At least I still get a dozen home shopping channels
  18. You know they loved using that headline on the AJC.COM http://www.ajc.com/braves/content/sports/b...aves/index.html Bong excels in bullpen, looks to Cubs showdown By DAVID O'BRIEN Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer Braves reliever Jung Keun Bong was watching the Chicago Cubs game on the clubhouse television Wednesday afternoon, intently eyeing a fellow South Korean rookie, Cubs first baseman Hee Seop Choi. "Choi," Bong said. "Best friend. We talk almost every day. If I face him this season ... I know what he doesn't like -- pitches outside down and inside up. I want to face him." Bong has pitched so well (2-0, 1.69 ERA in eight appearances before Wednesday), there's no reason to think the 22-year-old left-hander won't be with the Braves for their July 10-13 series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. "He'd done a fabulous job," manager Bobby Cox said of Bong, who has pitched 9 2/3 scoreless innings in seven appearances since allowing two runs on opening day. "Young guys are going to emerge this year, and that's great," said closer John Smoltz, who singled out "Bonger doing what he's doing." Bong was 7-8 with a 3.25 ERA in 27 games (17 starts) last season at Greenville, then boosted his stock with a strong performance in the Arizona Fall League. He won a bullpen job with steady work in spring training (1.42 ERA). His only previous experience above Class AA was an emergency start for the Braves last April, when he lost a 5-2 game against Arizona and Curt Schilling. But he has looked comfortable and more than held his own. He has allowed six hits and two walks during his 9 2/3 scoreless innings before Wednesday. Bong and Choi, 24, have known each other since high school in South Korea, and played together on a junior national team that lost to the United States and lefty Rick Ankiel in a 1997 tournament in Canada. Bong was primarily an outfielder at the time. "We had no clue," Bong said, recalling that game. "A lefty pitcher [Ankiel] who threw 95 mph. We had no chance. He had 15 strikeouts. We lost 4-0." Edmonds' Waterloo Cardinals center fielder Jim Edmonds has been one of finest hitters in the National League since he was traded from Anaheim before the 2000 season. Unless he's facing the Braves, in which case he's been something entirely different. Before Wednesday night's two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth, he was 2-for-47 (.043) with no RBIs and 18 strikeouts in his past 16 games vs. Atlanta. Do the Braves do anything different against him than other teams? "They get me out," Edmonds said. "I don't really know much about [struggling against them]. Somebody mentioned it to me yesterday. I don't read too much into it. I just try to do my job, play the game and have some fun." A .296 hitter in 11 major league seasons, he entered Wednesday batting .113 (7-for-62) against the Braves, including .077 (3-for-39) at Turner Field. He has not hit below .218 against any other team in more than 10 at-bats, nor hit below .235 in any other ballpark where he has 15 or more at-bats. Since driving in four runs with two homers in his first game at Turner on Sept. 24, 2000, Edmonds was 1-for-34 in 10 games at the stadium before Wednesday. "Lucky," Braves manager Bobby Cox called it. "He's a great player, that guy. He does everything great. Sometimes you make the pitches, sometimes you don't." Injury updates First baseman Robert Fick (right shoulder) probably won't require a minor league rehab assignment before being activated from the disabled list April 29. He threw without pain Wednesday... Javy Lopez (hamstring) could be back in the lineup as soon as tonight, but the Braves may decide to wait another day or two. They don't need to push it, with backups Henry Blanco and Johnny Estrada playing well.
  19. I've had the exact same thought. I'm surprised the Most Ever number has never set a new record. While, at the same time, the number of members has continued to climb steadily. Something is strange! on the AAJ, it says.. Most users ever online was 78 on 03-06-2003 at 05:35 PM. It means there are just not that many jazz fans, at least that care to post about jazz. It wouldn't be so sad, except I bet you could find a board for fans of 500 women who have 3 nipples, don't shave their pits, and shave sheep while naked, and they probably have 5000 on their board at any one time
  20. Yes I do! Got it for $10 bucks a few years back! Very nice set, though I don't put on my turntable much these days Need to crank that sucker up! Not to be a crying, fearful person, but.....WHERE IS THE MOSAIC SET?????????? I guess I need to calm down, and call them! I was going to wait to order it, but the suspense is KILLING ME!!!! In case you can't tell
  21. You know, they just changed this! I check it out once a week, mainly to go to mosaic, and I checked last night, and is was still saying May 1! What will Greg do??? I was sure when the board came back it was going to say "SACD discussion monitored by Greg"
  22. P.D. I guess you're right...just strange way to promote the items...
  23. PD, I keep forgetting the Wardell Gray, but will get that one soon! You mention wishing you could grab some of their sets, but you have most of the tracks...The Guitar, drum, Western Swing sets, have some obscure tracks/artists... Since I cannot post a link for the tracks on the Hodges,(Popup window for some reason!) I will just paste everything so you guys can figure if you have it all or not...their web addy looks a little different, like what it should have been all along! http://www.propermusic.com/ DISC ONE Johnny Hodges and his Orchestra : Cootie Williams, tp; Barney Bigard, cl; Johnny Hodges, ss, as; Otto Hardwick, as; Harry Carney, bs; Duke Ellington, p; Fred Guy, g; Hayes Alvis, b; Sonny Greer, d; Buddy Clark, voc (-1) New York, May 20, 1937 21186-1 FOOLIN’ MYSELF (-1) Variety 576 21187-1 A SAILBOAT IN THE MOONLIGHT (-1) Variety 586 21188-2 YOU’LL NEVER GO TO HEAVEN (-1) Variety 576 21189-2 PECKIN’ Raretone RTE 23005 Johnny Hodges and his Orchestra : Cootie Williams, tp; Lawrence Brown, tb; Johnny Hodges, ss, as; Otto Hardwick, as; Harry Carney, bs; Duke Ellington, p; Fred Guy, g; Billy Taylor, b; Sonny Greer, d; Mary McHugh, voc.
