Don't forget Dave Parker!

for sure! I was looking at friends on facebook and how many had lost their Fathers, and just in the last few years, but decades ago... Grateful that I still have one parent around.... And like Mike said, call them, and see them today if you can.

Nice story about an Angels fan ending up in the wrong suite... http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/video/clip?id=6668428

Fay Vincent always seemed...creepy, IMO...this isn't a creepy statement, just...stoopid... To Vincent, Cuban's passion for the Mavericks and financial backing aren't enough to balance his outspoken demeanor. "The rules are the rules. I think this enormous criticism -- the screaming about officials, the kinds of things that got him fined by David -- those are not actions of a sensible, responsible owner," Vincent said. "I mean winning is not everything, and I'm afraid for some of these owners they get so carried away with winning they believe that's the objective." http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/news/story?id=6664482

I hope you mean Whitey Herzog! umm, yeah....

The Cardinals of the late 70's.....Lou Brock(so glad I got to see him play before he hung 'em up) Bake McBride, Keith Hernandez , should be a HOF'er Ted Simmons, Gary Templeton(look at his 20-24 years, you'd think he was going to be a HOF'er... whoa, and if this quote on that page is true amazing! "Templeton is the best shortstop I've ever seen, and as you're aware, I've been around and I've seen a few." Satchel Paige) 2nd baseman, Mike Tyson, Dane Iorg, Bob Forsch, John Urrea( a friend once said, I wish you'd die, Urrea-pretty clever for a pre teen) Oh yeah, how can I forget to mention Ken Reitz the slowest player ever, and a great 3rd baseman(Zamboni machine!)And of course, Roger Freed(Quincy remembers him, I think! ) Then Whitey Ford traded everyone I cared for, and I stopped caring about the Cards. Then I was a Cub fan and a braves fan because of the superstations. I too was deeply pained by the 1984 Cubs....I soooo wanted to see them and the Tigers play in the W.S. Padres...uggh.... Followed the braves even though they always lost...finally got to see them turn it around, and guess I will always follow them....

Shawn, while we don't share political views, you are one of the few people here who knows and loves Myrna Loy, and I look forward to your thoughts on other older, lesser known films. In other words, you don't have to talk jazz to be interesting here. Hell, I couldn't tell you the last time I bought a any cd, or posted about jazz here. Yeah, one can feel like an outsider here when others can seemingly by whatever they want, whenever they want. But hey, if I were them, I would do that...don't want folks to feel guilty about it...somebody has to keep the economy flowing. Anyway, my wandering point is that this just isn't a jazz forum. Of course you know that...but like someone pointed out before, if everyone had to post something original or interesting about jazz here, or leave...there would be 2-3 members left! So hang in there, and keep talking about whatever interests you....

Ever see Walter Johnson throw???? Didn't know there was this much footage of him....

The Brewers started off looking pretty bad, but they have really turned things around of late. And in other news...I sure hope he goes with baseball, as talented as he appears to be. If he tears up a knee at Nebraska, we may never know how good he could be... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?id=6609946

Well, found more ways to get to the sound functions, and found something that was muted (realtek HD audio) don't think I was ever there, so not sure how it got muted! -
Can't get sound out of my computer speakers
BERIGAN replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
and nearly 6 years later, same issue, different computer. Last time, I did put in a new sound card, and everything was Kosher again. Everything claims to be working properly, testing speakers, etc...but I can't get sound even with my headphones. I have Vista, but haven't had one issue in all the years I've had Vista(that I can recall) Any thoughts other than the card???? -
Hope it's a great one!

Great film footage of the shuttle launch

Amazin'! Also amazin' , 17 folks felt compelled to Dislike the clip. -
For so very many reasons, I hate to bring up the Posey matter again, but no one tried to answer my question! Come on guys, you CAN do better! Why is it Kosher to run into a catcher, or knock over a SS or a 2nd baseman(how many serious knee injuries have we seen at 2nd base thru the years?) to cause a jarred ball or an errant throw...but to try to knock the ball out of the 1st baseman's glove, is the pussiest (real word? No red line under it! ) moves in the game, and yet I have never heard of a career being ruined by that play.

I think you may be right. I just have such a hard time imagining how anyone could be a Dodger fan. Because the Dodgers are the greatest franchise in the history of baseball.... Can't be, the Cardinals have more W.S. titles than the Dodgers! Yankee titles don't count.

Yep, out for the season. Can someone explain to me how sliding hard, and late, 3 feet wide of 2nd with mere fingertips reaching for the bag=good clean slide. Running full force into the blind side of a crouching catcher, who had the ball long before you were close to home(I haven't actually seen the play that ended Posey's season, just an example)= Clean play Running down the 1st base line and swatting at the 1st baseman's glove=terrible, very ghey play that either gets you derided forever (ARod) or in the case of Robert Fick, in 2004, cost him his job with the braves??? Just don't get it.

Happy Birthday Jim Alfredson!

Happy Birthday! -
Wow Jim, that's amazing! Glad you and your Son got away, aok. A story you two can tell forever. A really sad story I heard in Joplin, was that some people were trying to get back home Mom/daughter in one car, Father/son behind, in a Hummer. Somehow, the Son was sucked out of the sunroof of the Hummer, and hasn't been seen since. 6 foot 4, just graduated from H.S. until this storm, I would have thought you were pretty safe in a car...
