  1. super fast post, check out the stuff on tonight! Not sure if in any way the directors playhouse stuff is Hal Roach related, but there are some fascinating (in theory) casts in these shows, Errol Flynn, Dennis Hopper, John Wayne, etc...then Harry Langdon shorts http://www.tcm.com/schedule/index.jsp?startDate=01/18/2011&timezone=EST&cid=N
  2. You ought to call her. She might be lonely, and would like to chat with you.
  3. He mentions it's a Bowie song at the end sparky, you were close! Yes, I did have to listen to it to make sure.. http://www.myspace.com/nirvana/music/albums/unplugged-in-new-york-6261
  4. Well, I am sure many will know several of these.... I didn't know about .... Torn, Hey Joe, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Mambo No. 5, Don't Turn Around, Hanging On The Telephone, " Hey Mickey", Gloria, or The Crying Game! http://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/15-songs-you-didnt-realize-were-covers
  5. Laurel And Hardy marathon starting tonight, 8 PM EST http://www.tcm.com/schedule/index.jsp?startDate=01/11/2011&timezone=EST&cid=N
  6. Is that your trunk??? Not showing much love to those LPs!!!!
  7. Some young players start off terribly behavior wise, remember B.J. Upton getting suspended for the year in the minors? Plus, yeah, contract year (2nd one) but in front of a lot more media. But Dan, what will you do if the Cubs are in the playoffs, or make it to the W.S. and that phlegm is flying?
  8. Craig Rice. Might be hard to find these days. She was quite big at one time, yet few know of her today. More on her http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Rice_%28author%29 The Corpse Steps Out Having Wonderful Crime The Wrong Murder are some of the best.... Crime on My Hands was written by her, but credit was given to George Sanders...he had a great line saying something along the lines that this book wouldn't have been possible without Ms. Rice!
  9. sure has caused some problems though... Check out that poorly written headline...sounds like 4 were sickened when it was 9 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/25/four-loko-sickened-centra_n_773597.html
  10. So if he really sucks all year long, that means the Rangers win it all, right? I'll make that deal! Heh! I was checking out his years in Seattle, and the last few years in particular, there wasn't much offense at all, so I think he will benefit playing in Texas for that reason alone...plus most of the years in Seattle they were a sub .500 team. We tend to forgot 2009 was a walk year as well, but he was injured and put up terrible numbers...
  11. What an amazing, inspiring story! I just sure hope this isn't all happening too fast for him! It would make my head spin if it was me.... the video that started it all, just this week apparently! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6kI_u3ho_c meeting his Mom for the first time in 20 years... http://tv.rightcelebrity.com/?p=5682 you can find many stories on him, all over the place....
  12. Look for this icon when you are posting, and want to add video. Click on it as you would the insert image icon. I got that video from the Gieco site, I just right clicked on the video to get the link to video on youtube, to get the address...
  13. I see he was last here in Oct.... Well, Happy Birthday anyway!
  14. Jackwagon...? Cool I love that Geico commercial, too Here's the URL. For some bizarre reason Organissimo won't allow embedded video, connections, whatever....who knows why. Click the forward arrow three times and in the bottom right corner you'll find the drill sargent clip: http://www.geico.com/about/commercials/ Says you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhlWddAXSRA&feature=player_embedded
  15. Never thought much of Tom , and I like my Janis studio bound, instead of overpowering a mike live, but there is something just very fun, and energetic about this number! They clearly liked singing together....Guess I need to check out more of his duets! The first clip has poorer quality video, but is longer Here is the restored, but less fun clip
  16. When I say amazing, I mean amazing! 161 shorts and features!!! Here is the start of the lineup tomorrow at 8 pm with Our Gang shorts(53 during the month, 40 in 24 hours!) (Eastern times listed) http://www.tcm.com/schedule/index.jsp?startDate=1/4/2011&timezone=EST&cid=N Back in the 70's a hamburger joint called the Ground Round showed silent short films(Pretty smart when you think about it, didn't matter if anyone was talking) and that was where I saw Charlie Chaplin for the first time, and the Our Gang silent films, which I have never seen since....I remember liking them a lot as a kid, curious to see how good they seem now.... And here is the main page about the films http://www.tcm.com/thismonth/article/?cid=354583 It's a crying shame Charley Chase is just about completely unknown today, and while he wasn't as "big" as Chaplin, Keaton, Harold Lloyd, or Harry Langdon in the silent era, he was still pretty well known then, and IMHO, translated better to talkies than any of them(save perhaps Lloyd) but sadly he only made shorts except for a feature or two. After being canned by Roach, He went on to direct the 3 Stooges in some of their shorts, and made some really funny shorts himself at Columbia. They were supposed to put out all of those shorts like they did the 3 Stooges, but the economy went south before that happened. Info on his career at TCM http://www.tcm.com/thismonth/article/?cid=354591&mainArticleId=354583 Well, don't want to bore people too much(too late!) but many of the other shorts really deserve to be seen, the few "The Boyfriends" shorts I have seen were about as funny as any shorts, but who has heard of them??? The Thelma Todd shorts with Patsy Kelly can be hit or miss, but they made a great team. Have only seen One Thema Todd-Zasu Pitts short, so am looking forward to seeing more of them. Never seen any of the Patsy Kelly-Lyda Roberti Shorts. I have heard Lyda Roberti sing a few songs, in her very unique style(check out College Rhythm on youtube) but never seen her in a short...Oh yeah, and a 24 hour marathon of Laurel and Hardy! No way in the world to record even half of the stuff, but if you like your comedy old timey, this is the month for you!
  17. Hmmm, I guess I would say so, who were you thinking of???
  18. very nice photos....Again!
  19. Heard this on the big band channel on Direct TV, and the stupid channel decides not to say who is playing, and allmusic has only 1500 listings for the song...so I thought with all the super smart folks here(can I butter people up, or what?) someone might be able to tell me who this might have been. Plenty of trombone solos, trumpet in-between, sounded like a Hi-Fi recording, then heard some applause, which surprised me, sound quality was so good...just guessing the 50's....any guesses????
  20. Those people need to decaf, detox, decompress, or something. That level of manic energy and gleeful precision does not occur naturally in nature without chemical inducement! Does Ol' Bob have bladder control issues???? Shoot, you call that a manic level of energy??? Clearly, you have Not seen Varsity Drag from the original 1930 version of Good News(Appears the complete film has never been found) I saw this the first time on the Dawn of Sound V2 Laserdisc box set, and it about blew my mind! Somebody was smoking something that smelled funny when they shot this wild number. Perhaps I need to put the clip up there as this version is a bit fuzzy....still Dorothy McNulty (AKA Penny Singleton a decade later) does some pretty eccentric dancing...if she had done something like this in every Blondie film, Dagwood would never make it to work.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF7boHY34eA
  21. This version of Good News isn't all that great, but Joan's Pass the Peace Pipe number is amazing!(I bet she could actually sing well, but they wanted her to give both numbers VOLUME) Interesting that she is pretty darned short for a dancer, I wonder if that's why Hollywood didn't give her more of a chance in musicals???
  22. man, if I had a nickel for every time this has happened to me! http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/bizarre/flier-blames-tabasco-spill-lewd-act
  23. Don't forget my favorite, the Abe & Mrs. Lincoln. heh, ol' Abe must have always been in Mary's doghouse....
  24. Reggie should have gone in the HOF as an Oriole
