  1. thanks for your input!
  2. thanks Lon! Looks like you can adjust the brightness on that one?
  3. I would be interested in hearing your experiences with mini guitar amps....nothing bigger than a Yamaha GA-10. I am wondering which one(s) sound best and it does not matter if they are with AC plug or battery powered. Any experiences either good or bad would be appreciated. In case you are not familiar with the GA-10 ....it is about the size of a small toaster....and if anyone has personal experience with that one let me know.
  4. finally got this and it is another very strong release. I have two small caveats: "Professor Paul" - to my ears -is not prime Rollins and I am surprised it is on the disc. He sounds tentative and meandering (one of those infamous off nights for Sonny?)and I am guessing there is much better unreleased stuff than this. "DIsco Monk" has wonderful solos....but the tune itself is not up to the very high standard I often expect from Sonny....and I don't see any connection to Monk either musically or any other way. Nevertheless....I still love this recoding
  5. one of his that I like is with Jack Bruce called MonkJack.....anyone else like that one?
  6. I went to Cleveland for the parade on Wednesday.....completely awesome experience and loved the way the parade allowed the fans to get up close and personal with the team. Unforgettable.
  7. A giant....and a great loss...as is obvious to anyone familiar with his music.
  8. Great comeback and emotional win for the Cavs and us fans!!!! A beautiful moment to remember....wish I was in Cleveland this week!!!!
  9. so was Moman writing music or lyrics or both?
  10. Anybody who can write "Dark End of the Street" and "Do Right Woman" is enough to impress me!!!
  11. Thanks Jeff....I would catch that in a second but I am not there on those dates....
  12. Anyone have any recommendations (or what to avoid) as I will be finding myself in both of these cities soon? Looking for country, bluegrass, blues and folk. I will be with family and friends in Nashville but if anyone lives in Memphis and wants to get together I might be available. Any restaurants or bars.
  13. You are welcome Dan....glad that it worked for you.
  14. I am just giving my personal experience but for me it is much easier to change keys on the fly using a capo then figuring out what the chords are in a different key like real musicians do probably instantaneously....so yes you keep playing the same chords in the same way you did without the capo on a higher fret with the capo on and you have changed keys without having to learn different chords for the new key.... I Of course if you want to play like the record and the artist on the record is using a capo that's another reason. And as I said, if you sing while playing guitar, it makes it easy to find the right key for you voice....just move that capo!
  15. yes...your design may be easier to put on the guitar....but I much prefer my design.....allows you to adjust the tension very precisely....and they never break or at least not in my experience so far....also your design seems too big and doesn't fit in my guitar case compartment for supplies. Lon for me the key benefit of the capo is that if you are playing with other musicians or singing along with your guitar, it allows you instantly to change the key you are playing in to adapt to other musicians or your singing voice....you don't have to figure out the chords or melody for the new key you are changing to. Once I got one, I would never be without it....have one for all my guitars.
  16. No that is not the one I use. Mine is like this..never had a problem and it is much smaller....easy to fit in your case....never got why anyone would use anything else.
  17. Hi Dan I did not think we have the same kind because you said something about adjusting the spring. There is no spring in the capo that I have. It has a small knob that tightens and loosens the grip by closing the angle of the capo....have had it for years --- no problems. Spent maybe 10 or 15 dollars.
  18. I think that by far the best capos are the ones you have to rotate the screw to tighten.....really allows you to adjust the tightness....they are much smaller than the ones that most people use and they never ever wear out.
  19. I go there with some frequency....good store and nice guys....I will be sorry to see it go.
  20. Does anyone know if in fact Miles Davis actually fired a gun at someone in CBS Studios and at other folks and was shot at himself? Makes for an exciting movie but perhaps feeds into precisely the type of stereotype one would have thought Cheadle would to a lot to avoid..... And with all its problems I did enjoy the film.
  21. I enjoyed Cheadle as Miles too....and the movie was much more creative than the Hank film...I only meant to say that Tom Hiddleston's acting job is just scarily close to Hank (or what I know about him)...in some part aided by a physical resemblance.
  22. Maybe this is relevant maybe not. After having seen Miles Ahead the weekend before last, I decided to see the biopic for another one of my idols Hank Williams last weekend. This movie - entitled "I Saw the Light" - was not well-reviewed and does not really get below the surface of Hank, but British actor Tom Hiddleston as Hank is amazing in that he looks like Hank, has the accent down and he did an amazing job singing the songs which he sang in his own voice....not lip synching to original Hank recordings....and he is totally believable. As with the Miles film, the Hank film was sparsely attended - maybe 20 people...but I was surprised to see three African-American couples of various ages in attendance....there were none at the Miles film
