    thanks Frank I do have that recording and wondered if there was a speed issue because it just sounds weird....hoping for improvement I bought Closer again when I got the 2008 remastered cd...and while the fidelity is better - as you say it doesn't sound like anything was done with the speed issue. Thanks so much for your help.

    Frank Was it Ida Lupino that Rob said changed his life ? Or was it Closer? Everyone at the event had something important to say and knew how to say it.

    I was a big fan early on...and then sort of stopped paying attention. I think he was immensely talented and his best work really stands up!!!

    yes thanks ....that is the unit. Yeah I use it for solo transcriptions too...but just wondered if a mike might make my recording a little more hi-fi than the built in mike in the unit.. thanks for your advice.

    got plenty of tapes.....but I would be interested in any advice on mikes (of course I don't expect recording studio quality recordings)....anyone else have this unit?

    The owner's manual says it is a 3.5 mm phone plug and "will accept any low impedance microphone" thanks
