  1. Lester just gave up the HR to Ramirez. We Clevelanders have been told all along the Cubs are better (like the Red Sox and the Jays) ....yeah.....right.....
  2. Hendricks...Shmendricks....We ain't afraid of No Cubs.....Tribe pitching rules!!!!
  3. oh yeah and thank you Roberto Perez....got us four of the six!!!
  4. I will never understand how Jane Fonda went from this very admirable guy to Ted Turner....one of the great mysteries of life.
  5. Paul Thanks so much I have never heard of this guy and you are right....he is good and that is an understatement! He is playing here what is called a lap steel guitar and having recently taken up pedal steel guitar myself, I have always wondered why choose the lap steel over just playing slide guitar on a regular 6 string that you don't hold on your lap ? I guess the lap guitars give you more strings? And I wonder if those lap guys use an E9 tuning like the pedal steel players do? On the other hand I guess a dobro is a 6 string instrument played horizontally and with a bar. At any rate, this guy has talent.
  6. these releases are vinyl only and no cd?????
  7. I saw Bobby Watson at Smoke in NYC on Friday. He's a favorite of mine. I had not seen him in a while and was shocked at how much weight he had put on and how much he had aged. Did not affect his playing however which was ....forgive the pun....smokin'... and he had Curtis Lundy and Victor Lewis so it doesn't get better than that and some young pianist whose name escapes me but seemed very talented.
  8. For the record I ended up buying the Fender Champion 20 ($99) and have had it for a couple of weeks...and it is serving the purpose. I came very close to getting the Roland Microcube as it sounded very good but it was 50% more and I was afraid I might need more power. The Champion 20 is one of those modeling amps with all the pluses and minuses-the latter being that is has about a dozen classic amp sounds-but probably none of them quite get it exactly. But it is small enough (I would have preferred even smaller) and packs a lot of power for its size....it easily gets too loud for an apartment. The reverb on it may not be the greatest and you have a choice of different reverb sounds.....but the whole amp is cheaper than any reverb pedal and I get sick sometimes of so many chords and outboard devices. Thanks to everyone for their input.
  9. I believe that the last time I saw him perform was a duet with Andrew Hill at Lincoln Center in NYC at least 10 years ago. Memorable!
  10. One of my all time favorites!!
  11. thanks guys for all of your input!!!
  12. thanks for your input BFrank.... like you, I would be leaving the reverb on all the time so that is not an issue.....it is interesting that most music store guys tell you that that reverb pedals such as the Electro-Harmonix "Holy Grail" have a much better reverb than you get on any amp.... And as for the performance situation...I find it interesting that very few pedals allow for battery operation (most require ac plug in) so it's not like you can put the pedal right under your foot or at least you couldn't forty years ago when I was playing guitar in a band....but as you can tell I am hopelessly out of date. I played a Roland Micro Cube in a store and really liked how it sounded and it was louder than I expected....but at 3 watts and able to work on batteries I am a bit concerned about whether it would be loud enough to practice with others.
  13. Thanks I have a Frontman 15G which does have all the power I need but I need reverb. So I was thinking of getting a reverb pedal but the Fender Champion 20 has reverb and costs less than any reverb pedal....so I am wondering which choice is better?
  14. Has anyone ever had experience with a Roland Microcube (I think that is what it's called) amp? thanks for pointing that out.
  15. anyone have any experience with the Fender Champion 20 ? Smallish although slightly bigger than I was looking for...nice bunch of effects and am leaning towards tone controls and reverb at least.
  16. thanks!! It runs at least $300 new?????
  17. Is your Epiphone amp made by them....went on the Epiphone website and this amp was not shown as being offered.
