  1. Correct! WAVE But not every record he published is re-released on CD. Therefore you need a turntable. Welcome.
  2. I like hunting older originals a lot. If the price is okay (and that could one of your reasons!) I allways prefer the original LP. My last purchases (all are originals ): Double exposure - Joe Chambers & Larry Young (Muse) Taurus - Frank Strazzeri (Revelation) Ne plus ultra - Warne Marsh (Revelation) Drumfusion - Chico Hamilton (w/ Charles Lloyd! / Columbia) New beat bossa nova (Vol. 1 & 2) - Zoot Sims (Colpix) A Flat, C Flat + C - Jusef Lateef (impulse!)
  3. Peter Ind had a nice label in the 60ies/70ies called Wave Records. He released among others some Warne Marsh material recorded in 1959/60: Jazz from the East Village (LP10) and Warne Marsh (LP6) Great stuff! Recommended!
  4. Manne/Mitchell/Previn - Bells are ringing Lennie Niehaus Octet - Zounds! Both Centemporary mono Originals!
  5. I can't understand why Universal never released this one on CD and probably will never do! It is my favorite McCoy Tyner impulse! release.
  6. It is not too painful when you have them also as vinyl editions! I found some of these sets for very fair prices so I replace my CD sets. All I can say regarding the last BASIE auctions on eBay: A fool and his money are soon parted. Maybe I find someone who will spend this amount of money. If not, I'm still happy with my Basie set (I listen to this music not very often to be honest). -_-
  7. If anybody is interested: >>> CLICK! <<<
  8. Dave Pike - The doors of perception (VOTEX original). Strange music (side 1)! Alex Kallao Trio - An evening at the Embers (RCA mono). The fantastic Milt Hinton on bass. One question: What is a WALLY BN reissue????
  9. Bill Harris and friends (Fantasy) w/ the great Ben Webster! Oscar Pettiford - My little cello (america)
  10. Homage is a solo recording from Hill I haven't in my collection. Nefertit and Blue Black are excellent records. The quality of music and the pressing itself is great as Brownie mentioned before. Both recordings are fitting perfectly into the post Blue Note catalog of Andrew Hill. Almost the same high standard!
  11. Thanks for the links but that's not what I'm really searching for. This Blue Note site of Ron Penndorf shows all the labelings with exact dates. I'm looking for a Prestige/Riverside/Contemporary Labelography , not a discography!!!
  12. Can somebody provide me with some information: chronological list of labels, scans, internet sources,........ There is this nice BLUE NOTE labelography website (Ronpenndorf) but I found nothing helpful concerning Prestige, Contemporary or Riverside labels! Thanks!
  13. Freddie Hubbard - Breaking point & McCoy Tyner - Tender moments I love these KING pressings!
  14. Another Milestone recording which is highly recommended:
  15. Helen Merrill - The feeling is mutual (Milestone) Five stars!
  16. I have some recordings of Hicks as a sideman. The only CD I have with him as a leader is Inc.1 / DIW - a trio date with Walter Booker and Idris Muhammad. Here are some of his sidemen appearences which are not mentioned before: The bassist (Richard Davis) - great duo recording Against all odds (Curtis Lundy) Taru (Lee Morgan) 52nd Street themes (Joe Lovano) On this day (Joe Lovano)
  17. Thelonious Monk - Live in Italy (Riverside - Victor, Japan)
  18. This 3LP set is excellent. The sound is much better than the Universal 2CD set.
  19. You'll be happy with the Shank/Cooper Select which is still in print: MS-010
  20. 1st pressing, yellow label - great sound! This is one of my favorite albums.
  21. McCoy Tyner - Atlantis
  22. ... can't remember a hotel WITHOUT elevator music!
