  2. This can't be true! Scott Wenzel or Michael Cuscuna are lurking somewhere on this board.
  3. "The legend" released on the excellent Criss Cross label is a very good organ trio session. His first date as a leader after that long absence.

    KING

"Konitz meets Mulligan" is currently spinning it's rounds on my turntable. It's the GXF King release from 1979. WOW! I have no comparison but can't imagine the original plays better than this copy. The dynamic is fantastic, the bass blows me out of my pants ( I'm home alone for good reason!).
  5. A label from Hamburg - to be more precise!
  6. Joachim Schoenecker's "In the moment" is also a good one with prominent support from Chris Potter, John Goldsby & Adam Nussbaum.

  8. I have to mention two of my favorites. Surprisingly nobody else have these on the "most wanted" list ?!
  9. Jamie Cullum for ONLY EURO 350+
  10. So many Woody fans around here! Here are some brilliant quotes from the greatest filmmaker of our time : I am at two with nature. It's not that I'm afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens. If it turns out that there is a God, I don't think that he's evil. But the worst that you can say about him is that basically he's an underachiever. Not only is there no God, but try getting a plumber on weekends. More than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly. My one regret in life is that I am not someone else. I was thrown out of college for cheating on the metaphysics exam; I looked into the soul of the boy sitting next to me. It is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, and certainly not desirable, as one's hat keeps blowing off. It seemed the world was divided into good and bad people. The good ones slept better... while the bad ones seemed to enjoy the waking hours much more. Life is divided into the horrible and the miserable. What if everything is an illusion and nothing exists? In that case, I definitely overpaid for my carpet. I'm astounded by people who want to 'know' the universe when it's hard enough to find your way around Chinatown. When I was kidnapped, my parents snapped into action. They rented out my room. What if nothing exists and we're all in somebody's dream? Or what's worse, what if only that fat guy in the third row exists? Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. (Getting Even, 'My Philosophy') To you I'm an atheist; to God, I'm the Loyal Opposition. Organized crime in America takes in over forty billion dollars a year and spends very little on office supplies. Life is full of misery, loneliness, and suffering - and it's all over much too soon. Interestingly, according to modern astronomers, space is finite. This is a very comforting thought-- particularly for people who can never remember where they have left things. Most of the time I don't have much fun. The rest of the time I don't have any fun at all. The lion and the calf shall lie down together but the calf won't get much sleep. (Without Feathers, 'The Scrolls') Some guy hit my fender, and I told him 'be fruitful, and multiply.' But not in those words. (Woody Allen: Clown Prince of American Humor) I wanted to be an arch-criminal as a child, before I discovered I was too short. (Woody Allen: Clown Prince of American Humor) I asked the girl if she could bring a sister for me. She did. Sister Maria Teresa. It was a very slow evening. We discussed the New Testament. We agreed that He was very well adjusted for an only child. (Woody Allen: Clown Prince of American Humor) My parents were very old world. They come from Brooklyn, which is the heart of the Old World. Their values in life are God and carpeting. (Woody Allen: Clown Prince of American Humor) If there is reincarnation, I'd like to come back as Warren Beatty's fingertips. The only time my wife and I had a simultaneous orgasm was when the judge signed the divorce papers. I do not believe in an after life, although I am bringing a change of underwear. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your future plans. If you're not failing every now and again, it's a sign you're not doing anything very innovative. There are two types of people in this world: good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours much more . More than any time in history mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness, the other to total extinction. Let us pray that we have the wisdom to choose correctly. I'm very proud of my gold pocket watch. My grandfather, on his deathbed, sold me this watch. I don't think my parents liked me. They put a live teddy bear in my crib.
  11. Capitol to Release Nat King Cole Documentary and Singles Collection Almost 40 years after his death, Nat King Cole continues to sell millions of records every year around the world. To commemorate his death, Double Jab Productions will televise their documentary The World of Nat King Cole in February 2005 in both the United States and Europe. Capitol/EMI will simultaneously release a CD of Cole’s singles and a DVD of the documentary. Double Jab’s documentary will feature interviews with Alan Livingston (former president of Capitol Records), Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Bill Cosby, Carlos Santana, Ibrahim Ferrer, Les Paul, Outkast, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett and Whoopi Goldberg, as well as family members. Kari Lia, producer of The World of Nat King Cole, described the contents and purpose behind the film. “The themes we explore in The World of Nat King Cole include Cole’s celebrity during his lifetime and the universal, timeless appeal of his music, with a special focus on Nat’s influential role within the Civil Rights movement in the United States. Nat King Cole was one of the first African Americans to break through major race barriers in the entertainment industry, and we found that to be an area of his life that has never been fully explored until now,” she said in a press release. The corresponding CD, also titled The World of Nat King Cole, contains 28 remastered tracks from Cole’s career. The CD will be presented in several region-specific versions, each with a different track list to feature Cole’s most popular recordings in the different countries. In the United States, the track lists includes hits such as “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” “(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66,” “(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons” and “Unforgettable.” Capitol/EMI will release the CD and DVD both individually and as a limited edition CD/DVD set. After signing to Capitol Records in 1942 as one of its first artists, Cole recorded over 150 charting singles, more than any other artist on that label. Capitol eventually became known as “The House That Nat Built” and at the time of his death in 1965, it was reported that Capitol had sold over nine million of Cole’s albums.
  12. A teutonic beauty?
  13. Well, that's why I do not work in the Sales department!!! -_-
  14. Dull? I like this one. "Catch me" is a brilliant session and some of the unreleased material is 1st class (especially the March 28, 1963 & June 1, 1964 dates). "For Django" is a jazz guitar masterpiece. You need this box!
  15. 'Copy-protected' or 'NOT copy-protected'? That's the question!
  16. I was in Paris a few month ago and bought this fabulous CD. It is a french release, never published elsewhere I think. It reminds me of the great Kenny Wheeler ECM CD "Angel song". Same feeling and quality but another intrumentation. The french horn plays also a major part. Must be a "Megaseller" in France. The CD won every price from radio stations and magazin/readers polls in the country.
  17. I'm not sure. The Commodore box sets are just LP releases, 3.500 if I remember correctly. The LP part of mixed CD/LP releases is much lesser - maybe 1.500 out of 5.000?! Boxes like the Shank set never reached the limit of 5.000 units. When the Shank set went OOP approx. 3.500 copies were sold. The LP rate must be very small.
  18. If it's the JRVG you'll have the "Birthday song" in your collection! I like this session a lot. Great music!
  19. This list contains some recordings Addey is responsible for (editing, remixing, mastering, ...). It is NOT complete but maybe of some interest!
  20. I never heard of a Lp release from the Marsalis Music catalog. BTW, the CD sound is very good.
  21. Correct, ... but $100.
  22. I'll try to e-mail/PM you some really interesting data soon. Thanks for your PM!
  23. The music industries newest idea to stop the downward trend. The DualDisc contains a CD on one side and a DVD on the other side of the same disc. What about SACD & DVD-A? Already dead?! Columbia Legacy will start with Miles Davis - Kind of blue. This link will probably give us some more information about forthcoming releases!
  24. Hi wolff, you made me curious. Can you tell us a bit more about this "Stamper project"? Very interesting is the comment of the seller the Sheila Jordan LP was never released as a Deep Groove. Where can I get that kind of information? The seller must have a very impressive BN collection. Sheila Jordan on BN
  25. Forgot to say that the box is factory sealed and will be shipped on Oct. 18 (release date).
