  1. I saw him in Zürich this year. Great concert!
  2. And the 50th st. NY LPs sound better then Bergenfield... Two questions: Which was the first LP with the Bergenfield address? They moved in 1967. And which LP was the first one with this blue label? Any ideas?! Thanks.
  3. John Lewis & Sacha Distel - Afternoon in Paris (Atlantic, Warner-Pioneer JAZZ-FOREVER-series from Japan) - great sound!!!
  4. Good spot. Thanks! I pre-ordered it within seconds! Sidewinder, it's your turn!!!
  5. Aggie is right (although he is fan of the VfB ). These are all fantastic recordings. The 2 CD or LP ECM set 1961 (contains Fusion and Thesis) is highly recommended, the 2CD hatOLOGY set Emphasis & Flight, 1961 as well. As a leader the following are recommended (some of them have been mentioned): Introducing, Debut 1953 Footloose!, Savoy 1962 Closer, ESP 1965 with Gary Peacock, ECM 1970 Homage to Carla, OWL 1992 Mindset, Soul Note 1992 Not two, not one, 1998
  6. Again some Pacific recordings: Gerry Mulligan - Paris concert (PJ-1210) next: Richard Twardzik - The last set (PJ-1212)
  7. Paul Bryant - Burnin' (Pacific Jazz, mono deep groove original)
  8. He'll be remembered for his versatile work. The early comedies are only one chapter (and definitely not the best, IMO). Besides of his two crap movies from recent years (Small time crooks, Hollywood ending) there are so many gems. Another woman (1988) is his most underestimated film! No comedy, great film! What about Melinda & Melinda from last year? Did anyone see this movie in the states at all?!! Match Point will be his next masterwork (I trust in critics this time -_- ). You have a lot to discover!
  9. Clark Terry & Yusef Lateef - Color changes (Candid, Japan reissue) Sonny Red - The mode w/ Grant Green, Barry Harris (Jazzland, 70ies pressing)
  10. Lee Konitz - Timespan on Wave Records MINT ORIGINAL for €2.99!
  11. Mildred Bailey, Disc IV. Wonderful music. Thanks to MOSAIC I became attentive to it. A christmas present for everyone!!!
  12. #57 of an edition of 3.000 arrived yesterday. 130 minutes of excellent music. Recommended!
  13. Two Revelation LPs: Dennis Budimir - Alone together (solo piano, accompanied on two tracks by Gary Foster) Anthony Ortega - New dance
  14. This is an interesting thread. When buying used vinyl you are able to significantly increase sound by washing the LP. Even new vinyl can have residues of production in the groove. Many organissimo members are making fun of cleaning vinyl. This is fine. Maybe we have more dust in Germany than anywhere else?! Or maybe not everyone here ever compared dusty and cleaned vinyl.
  15. Sorry Brownie, but there is sometimes the need of cleaning brand new LP's as well. Especially Classic Records LP's are sounding better and running quieter after a short washing programme.
  16. "Tom cat" is the only one I put on my list. I have this 19XX US release and would like to upgrade. I can recommend the TOCJ-6600 (TOCJ24) release of "The gigolo". The sound is good. One of the better releases out of this budget series.
  17. The combination of BN and Hill sounds very promising indeed. But I also like his Palmetto releases a lot. It's a bit dissapointing that there will be no other Hill release on this excellent independent label. Greg Tardy - another Palmetto artist - is still in Hill's band. Great news.
  18. Mal Waldron - Sweet love, bitter (impulse! mono original) The Poll Winners: Barney Kessel with Shelly Manne and Ray Brown (Contemporary mono original)
  19. Hi Yves, welcome here in the vinyl section. I highly recommend the Hodges 51-55 set, which is a LP release only. This is one of my favorite. And it is affordable compared to the Parlan or OOP Miles sets you mentioned before.
