I would also agree that people that dig free jazz (if I can use that term) will more than likely still enjoy bebop/hardbop. I've sat through many avant garde shows that people have got up and left but not the other way around. I'm a big fan of hardbop but have enjoyed the free playing I've seen in the past year, having seen several shows. I will say that some of it is too much to take but I'm trying to find some "value" in it. m-

Hell, I almost have a complete set and mine averaged 6-7 dollars per issue. I have all the ones that Gene Deitch drew as he is a friend and many others. The entire set would be cool and the condition of them look great but $2500.00 is too steep in my opinion. Mark

Well....I don't know about gentleman, but yes, that was me in the front row. I was with Jim Neumann and his wife (Beehive Records) and pianist Jan Lundgren. Sal showed up towards the end of the set and we stayed for the second one as well. Bobby was in a great mood and his version of Happy Birthday was great!. m-

My Uncle spent several years in Suzhou recently setting up a facility for Eli Lilly. They enjoyed their time there and had nothing but good things to says. They also traveled extensively in China. Have a great time! Mark

I am joining a friend and pianist Jan Lundgren for dinner in a couple nights and I know nothing about Jan except he is suppose to be a very good player. Who knows him and what is his playing like? Any suggestions on where to start on his music? Thanks! Mark
