  8. Wow ! I was up on row 3 right in front of Gerald - even up at the front there were a significant number of spaces which were free. Criminal, really.. The guitarist was Phil Robson - I thought he soloed really well but when not soloing he sat down/retreated to the back so I missed the possible bored expression. I think the band did really well, considering the limited rehearsal time and demanding charts. Better than I could have expected, actually. 'Viva Tirado' could have done with a bit more US 'swagger'. Yes, the CD sound is a bit on the 'thin' side after the live show but I think it's a good one. Those orchestrations have to be heard live to be really fully appreciated. Who knows if and when Gerald will be back over here? I truly hope so - apparently I hear his itinery through 2006 is looking pretty full. ...we swagger ????
  9. ...they play hockey in Canada???
  10. Uncle Skid: Thanks for the kind words!!! The image of Grimes/Anderson was made (no flash) at the Velvet Lounge during a benefit show to help fund the move to a "new" Velvet. As most of you know, the wrecking ball will soon be falling upon the Velvet and the neighborhood rebuilds/expands. I was talking with Henry Grimes and drummer Avreeayl Ra a while back and they told me that someone broke into the new Velvet and stripped the place of the new copper wire that had just been put in place....pretty damn sad!!! In any event, I sold a handful of prints that night and gave Fred close to $600.00 towards the new place....not much but he needs all he can get to get the place up and running! Thanks again!!! Mark
  11. .....and! I have many others including the members of The Thing.....will post some additional images later. m~
  12. ...and
  13. Here are a few images from last nights The Thing featuring Joe McPhee show in Indianapolis. Great show but attended by 15 paying customers. After the opening band, Joe grabbed about a dozen seats, pulled them to the front of the stage, got rid of the mics and we had our own little private show!!! Mark
  14. Canada has football ???
  15. Thanks Chuck, I've seen him at the Showcase several times and thought he may be local but wasn't sure. He is fine, indeed. I also like Larry Gray's playing but not so sure about Spencer ..... m~
  16. Conn....did you really think Cincy would beat Indy or was it wishful thinking???

  19. Marla, Hi and thanks for the kind words, Bud played with Larry Novak on piano, Larry Gray on bass and Joel Spencer on drums. I know Spencer and Gray are local, not sure about Novak. They were selling the Shank/Woods cd at the club but failed to pick one up . Haven't forgot your HJ photos....coming you way soon! Mark
  20. ...What a joke!!! ....but watch out for the sandhill cranes!!!
  21. I assume you know about the statue in Austin: ← No, I didn't but that is COOL!!!!
  22. ....ah, the Rods and Cones....PJ Lavengood on guitar....very good player. I saw them several times and they also opened for SRV at Clowes Hall. I had front row seats and SRV sat down on the front of the stage about 2 feet from me with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth....played one tune for 15-20 minutes...by this time it was about a 4" long ash hanging from him lip!!!......what a killer show!!! I love the way SRV would use those big shiny mailbox letters on his guitar to spell out SRV.....man, I miss that dude!!! m~

So far as I know, the Indianapolis concert certainly is, Mark, but if you have any doubts, please use your Madame Walker Theatre and Mythopeic contacts to check on it. If you find out otherwise, please let me know. Thanks. ← Thanks Margaret!!! I'll let you know how it goes!!! m~
  24. I was just giving JazzKrow some shit, he's not really a fan of "out" playing and I was a little shocked he took that one.....I guess the last laugh is on me!!!
