  1. pentatonic fairy fucker blues.......i'd like to ram that saxophone up his bung hole till he pipes out the cheese cutters polka!
  2. option d--- art pepper is my favorite sax man. the unissued hill blue note sessions are a once in a lifetime release, probably never to see the light of day again. if you have any intrest in andrew hill, i would pick this up now. the sessions may be uneven, but definitely worth a listen.
  3. thanks again, to all, for your suggestions.
  4. a friend was asking me about miff mole cd's, she would like to get one for her dad, who is a big fan of his. i don't know squat about mr. mole. does anyone have a suggestion on any one cd to get? thanks in advance.
  5. ordered my copy with a gift card. i get the select & a couple of $$$ left over! ha!ha!ha!ha!
  6. imo,"NOW" is an excellent album. i had no reservations, even with the vocals, about picking this cd up. i can't wait for a mosaic select of hutcherson's 70's albums!
  7. jeremy steig.....wayfaring stranger kenny cox.........introducing/multidirection booker ervin.....unissued session jimmy smith......confirmation and lets finish the blue note 10" connoisseur series with the last four recordings owned by bn. best of the west vol 1/vol 2 lou mecca/urbie green
  8. just off the phone with ed. he said that there were a few problems,so the jan. 22nd concert was cancelled. he also said that they were trying for a new date, in june. at least you don't have to worry about a blizzard in june. there are still two concerts on jan 21st: frank morgan & ronnie mathews-iron horse-northampton,mass. dave holland quintet-uconn-storrs,ct.
  9. rob, it's no bother. i was waiting for an e-mail from ed, which i received yesterday. i was going to post, but never got around to it. all that he sent was a list of new cd's that he would be getting in. no mention of the show. the last time i was there, he mumbled something about postponing the show until spring. it looks like that is the case. i will give him a call, and post later in the day. rob, that's the u. of hartford, not uconn.
  10. still waiting for an e-mail from ed. if he ever gets around to it, i will post it here. just over two weeks till showtime, i assume that it will come very soon, unless the show was postponed.
  11. bluerein, ejp626 is right on with his post. i hope the hutcherson select comes out in 2005.
  12. not figuring on anything mosaic, i was suprised to receive a couple of gift cards. just enough to cover the andrew hill & bobby hutcherson selects.
  13. hi rob, ed kretch, of intregrity n' music,in wethersfield, conn.,is putting this concert on. he does not have a website. i just called ed and he said that it is going to be at the u. of hartford, on jan. 22. tickets will not be available until sometime after the first of the year. the u. of hartford has a website, but it is not on there yet. it's a general admission event, no reserved seats. the theater has approx. 200 seats, so all the seats are pretty good.
  14. i'll have my good buddy work mosaic over if it's a compilation.
  15. lon, i hope you are correct. lets see now.......the power of positive thinking!
  16. i just received a reply from mosaic about a bobby hutcherson box. "we are talking about a select of the best of bobby's 70s work for blue note." that could include tunes from: cirrus knucklebeans inner glow head on waiting the view from the inside linger lane live at montreux san francisco natural illusions montara if that e-mail means what i think it does,a compilation, rather than complete albums, like the other selects, i won't be to thrilled. especially since the first seven albums on the list have never been on cd. to take a couple of tunes from each recording, my achin' butt! i hope it means the best of bobby's 70's albums.(complete albums).
  17. rob, if all families had a positive flow of energy, the world would be alot better off. dmp,i look forward to any unissued blue note titles being released on cd for the first time. to me there is no such thing as a minor blue note date, i would like to get them all. jmo.
  18. rob, thats wild!! i've always loved jazz flute and i think that jeremy steig's solid state/blue note releases deserve to be reissued on cd. on the subject of cd's, jeremy steig has released a cd in recent months called, improvised, it is a duo with vic juris on guitar. i don't have it yet(just found out about it)but will purchase it shortly.
  19. bill, sorry about that,i must of lost my head! the bn disco. does have this listed as a bn recording. though the all music website has it listed as a cadet recording.
  20. just up,eric alexander & one for all, at the u. of hartford, jan. 22nd(saturday). i will be there, barring a blizzard. i also subscribe to the theory that murphy's law is the number one law of nature. now where the hell did i put my snowshoes?
  21. i'm concocting a scheme to try and sell a jeremy steig release to mosaic or blue note, could i please get some help on the times, pretty please.
  22. dr j, the reason i asked for a mosaic box of bobby hutcherson's later blue note recordings is that none of of the six have ever been out on cd anywhere. i believe it's about time. your mosaic box, which i would buy, would still include, inner glow, head on(a cadet recording released as bn4376),and cirrus, from my list. but a couple of items from your suggested box are available, now(just released)& san francisco.plus spiral, medina, and total eclipse, previously released, now oop. a funny thing about bobby hutcherson's recording- head on. quite a while back, before i owned a computer, probably before bn had a bulletin board, i called up blue note on the phone. i was talking to someone(i can't reveal my source ,but they are still working there). i called to find out about upcoming releases, and i was sent a listing of all upcoming cd's. it was 2 or 3 pages long,(it included all emi jazz releases, not just bn), on that list, HEAD ON. i'll be darned that the only thing NOT released on that list was ,head on????
  23. a while ago i sent a request to mosaic for some sort of hutcherson box with the following albums: cirrus knucklebeans inner glow head on waiting the view from the inside the reply i received,"it's not definite, but possible". if you are looking for a hutcherson box, send them an e-mail, it could help to get this box out.
  24. could mikeweil or someone please list the playing time(not each tune, the whole recording) of the following jeremy steig albums: legwork this is jeremy steig thanks in advance.
  25. tony, thats what i figured, that water would be the best chance for a release of this album.
