jim r, you are correct. i will have to edit my list and add something else. there are so many smith blue note sessions, i just thought this was something different.
-
jeremy steig- wayfaring stranger booker ervin- unissued session harold land- take aim kenny cox- introducing/multidirection reuben wilson- set us free/on broadway the three sounds- soul symphony horace silver- silver n'....would this all fit on a mosaic select? time to e-mail mosaic kenny burrell- freedom stanley turrentine- new time shuffle fats sadi- the swingin' fats sadi combo blue mitchell- bantu village/collision in black urbie green- new faces new sounds i'm not including bobby hutcherson's 70's blue note output.i believe mosaic will issue these on a select, at some point. i'm not asking for to much,am i?

hell, michael cuscuna gets an AAA+++ in my book, and so does lon.
-
tranemonk, besides, if ron mcmaster was to do a complete mosaic box, rather than just a select, think of the utter chaos that would cause on this board. the complete and utter devastation that it would bring. oh, the humanity!!! hmmmm...i'd better edit this post. just to say that i have no problem whatever with ron mcmasters work. this is only meant to be some slight humor.
-
tranemonk, since the following: the real mccoy tender moments time for tyner have been or are scheduled to be rvg's, and are all still available, it probably made no sense for mosaic to include those in a box. so they put everything not an rvg into a select for 39.95, and everything by tyner will then be in print, including the unissued cosmos recordings. hell, i know one o' them thar' seelects has my name on it! i'll be preordering one.
-
would someone please fill me in on this unissued session. any reason why this could not be issued. thanks.
-
maybe we can get kevin b. to call michael cuscuna, and find out what exactly will be in the box.
-
oops, the rvg ed. of time for tyner is scheduled for a summer release. i see that tender moments is avilable as an rvg. so it's down to the unissued session. so what would be the best case scenario. cosmos asante extensions expansions unissued session that would cover everything not out as an rvg, and it should all fit on a select. just speculation on my part.
-
epithet, cosmos is a double album. as i said, there has to be room for one more recording in this select, besides the ones mentioned. expansions, maybe. i think a mosaic select is perfect, at least pricewise. we certainly don't need a box with ,the real mccoy,& time for tyner, both out as rvg's. so what's left, tender moments (which can't be that hard to find), and an unissued session.
-
they should be able to fit one other session, besides the ones i mentioned, in a tyner select. beats me what it would be. as for eta, the e-mail just said next year. hopefully it will be paired with the hutcherson 70's select!
-
i e-mailed mosaic about a mosaic select with the following: cosmos extensions asante the e-mail i received. "you're on the money. we'll do a select with all this material next year!"

i've got #531. ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!

actually the sound quality, imo, is very good. i'm just wondering if i'm the only one to have the booklets crunched up behind the tabs on the jewel case cover. i've purchased two and they are both crunched.
-
i purchased a copy of conte candoli- modern sounds from the west, opened it, found the booklet was crunched, %^$&G*I(*(>#@<. purchased another one, found the booklet was crunched, $#@!%^&%$$&&**&*(()><%^$##@@!!!!!! am i the only one, or has any one else had the same problem. i am absolutely paranoid about getting a new cd, including, booklet & tray card, in mint condition.
-
just kidding with the baar's,by the way. that's my one goal in life, to kill a thread on organissimo!!!
-
kevin, you can have my copy. the last time i listened to it i did not have any grey hair, now that's about all i have.

when blue note issued the original connoisseur 10" release in 1998 (man, time really does fly) they only had four other sessions that they owned the rights to: best of the west vol1 & vol 2 lou mecca urbie green imo, they should have combined the best of 1 & 2 and mecca/green and released them at the same time as the others. then the bn part of the series would be complete. back to reality, now they want to release best of the west? a might late, isn't it. i would hope that they would at least release the mecca/green dates on one cd. fat chance of that. why rip lonehill, at least someone is releasing this material. as i have said, if blue note does release best of the west, i would buy that one also.
-
fwiw, to me the sound is excellent, alot better than i thought it would be. if there is a domestic release, i would pick one up anyway.

-
how is the sound quality on lonehill releases, in general, poor, fair, good?. i was thinking about the best of the west vol 1 & 2. but if it is going to be that poor, i would have second thoughts about placing an order.
