Once they decoupled the Winter Olympics from the Summer, and started having them every TWO years instead of every four, it began to seem like all Olympics, all the time. The media clamor leading up to the Olympics is so deafening that you can't help but KNOW about them, even if you don't give a shit about them. Personally, I think the Olympics should be disbanded because they're a frigging joke, but I know that's not going to happen, any more than they're going to abolish the Electoral College.

I confused...I...I...like something Paris did. Must resist warm feelings... I know, I know... The first time I've ever found her remotely amusing or entertaining. Here's hoping her term for McCain ("the wrinkly white-haired dude") catches on.

I'm still trying to get research funding to test my theory that breezes can be felt better outside.

Sounds like he may have reached the age where he shouldn't drive anymore. In any case, I hope he recovers quickly and completely.

I've long considered myself a fan of Earl Hines. Not a Johnny Hartman fan though...never much liked that style of singing.

Manne's second Peter Gunn album is really something special (at least in my book.) Perhaps that's the one. That "Proper Time" soundtrack album...pricey!!

My copy came in today. Listening to disc 2 now. Sounds pretty good. (A lot of this is stuff that I've had on vinyl forever and it's just nice to get a decent CD version. (Of course, there's stuff I didn't have too.))

Depends on how close you are, and how close to the surface the epicenter was. I had a three-point-something that was only a few miles away (Daly City) that made me think the house was coming down. But then a 4.2 in the San Jose area went by and I didn't even notice it. That would be truly the outer limits!
