  1. Sonny Clark's Sonny's Crib, and Rollins's Alfie are kind of "essential" in my book. Jazz Party is kind of up there, too, if not as lofty as Such Sweet Thunder. I think a lot of people have already remarked that Tijuana Moods should not be considered inessential. Art Tatum and Ben Webster is also a personal favorite. Everyone's mileage may vary, of course.
  2. Is that a link to an alternate time line?
  3. Or conversely, if THEY start liking YOUR music, then you can reach for Pere Ubu.
  4. I heard one of his recent routines and thought it was quite good.
  5. I've read about 10 or so of the Wolfe books. I thought the series was a decent attempt at putting the stories on the small screen. Will be interested to get your reaction. (And I got that 60's show wrong; it was The Invaders.)
  6. Wow. Perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised, given his age and a history of heart problems, but I am. Hell of a career he had. He will be missed. RIP
  7. Well, they were, like, cool 'n' shit.
  8. You mean the original "Invasion" show, from the 60's? When I was a kid, someone gave me a model of the spaceship from that show. I never did get around to putting it together, though. (I sucked at putting models together. Still do.) BTW, I enjoyed the Nero Wolfe series, except I wish they'd kept Wolfe's office the way it was in the first season; never liked the way it was in Season 2. Also, Timothy Hutton was a good choice to play Archie Goodwin, but there were times when I thought when he played him a bit too much for laughs.
  9. You mean, "bored and not sufficiantly depressed."
  10. I guess the next step is to not wear any pants at all.
  11. Dupree Bolton
  12. "Flutist of the Year"?
  13. She loves you Yeah, yeah, yeah She loves you Yeah, yeah, yeah She loves you Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah You think you've lost your love Well I saw her yesterday It's you she's thinking of And she told me what to say... (Actually, come to think of it, I kind of like that.)
  14. Ah, Bosch! The H. R. Giger of his time.
  15. Securing the legal rights to music used in a TV series when it is re-released in another form is often a nightmare. It's one of the reasons why I never got the DVD's of St. Elsewhere because I heard that some of the songs and music originally used couldn't be put on the DVD. That's ALSO why the DVD release of Freaks & Geeks took four years---securing the rights to all the songs sampled in the series took that long. As for The Fugitive, it's a crying shame, and very frustrating, but not all that uncommon.
  16. That's ridiculous. It's a puzzle or a bone of contention because it was a freakin' psychic, for crying out loud. This is pathetic. It doesn't have a damned thing to do with "kids come first". It has to do with a complete lack of both common sense and intelligence. Exactimundo. What next? Taking the legal advice of chicken entrails or tea leaves to find out what to do with a kid?
  17. I heard that the old cop show "Toma" was retooled when the actor playing the lead left, and it more or less became the Baretta show. Don't know if this is true, but I used to watch them both.
  18. You don't have to be psychic to be right about that.
  19. Anything by Coldplay.
  20. I'd put Rembrandt higher, personally, but hey, maybe that's just me.
  21. ''keep your eye on the sparrow...''
  22. Looks interesting, if not exactly cheery...
  23. I like the old Firefox. But then, I tend to like the "old" everything...
