  1. What shock! I didn't even know he was sick. RIP
  2. Saw this on the big screen when it was first released in the U.S. Great movie!
  3. The "freak of the weak" episodes I always thought of as "Kolchak (The Night Stalker)" episodes, as that was what they seemed a direct descendent of. Full disclosure: I Don't Really Want To Believe.
  4. Nice article! Thanks.
  5. Yep. Directed by the master Jacques Tourneur. It also has a very early performance by Kirk Douglas. One of my favorite movies.
  6. So now's the time to ask: who is that anyway? Jane Greer. Hollywood actress. Jane Greer "You can't make deals with a dead man, Jeff."
  7. Damn. A great, long life and wonderful career, but still....damn. RIP
  8. The Velvet Whine?
  9. I like the one here on Haight Street. ...And the one in Berkeley is pretty damn great, though I haven't been there in a while.
  10. July 14th? Must be on vacation. Hope he's having a great time.
  11. God's way of telling him to shit or get off the pot.
  12. Yes, just yesterday I was wondering, "Has Allen run into Julianne Moore lately, and if not, WHEN???" Well, glad that question's been answered.
  13. Good grief! Glad you came out as well as you did, and my best wishes go out to you and your Mom.
  14. Out-of-print for years.
  15. Interesting to see that they sometimes did lengthy trailers even back then.
  16. Best wishes and best of luck!!
  17. I ordered a copy a few days ago. Waiting with bated breath.
  18. Truth to tell, she's one of those people that I'd half assumed passed away some time ago. RIP
  19. On my 5th birthday: "Paperback Writer" by the Beatles. Cool. On my birthday in 1950: The "Third Man" Theme by Anton Karas. Really cool!!
  20. Congratulations!
  21. As for me, it's back to Franklin D Well, at least that's a pretty wide window.
  22. "Mr.Blue" is a great tune!! One of the few doo-wop ballads that I actually like. It kind of makes me feel older than my present mindset knowing I was born in the doo-wop era. My sister-in-law isn't much help. Once we were talking about ages and she had one of those clarity/realization moments when she looked at me aghast and said, "You were born when Eisenhower was President!!". My sheepish response, "Yeah, well..uh... it was kinda near the end of his last term...". I was born early in Kennedy's term, so don't feel bad. One of the reasons I like "Mr. Blue" so much, I think, is that on one level it functions as a gentle parody of doo-wop ballads. But in a very friendly, good-natured way. I first came across it on the Diner soundtrack.
