  1. This is why I kept my original CD's of No Room For Squares and The Turnaround, even after getting the RVG's.
  2. Yeah. I just don't see what kept them from adding more bonus tracks once they decided to add that one to start with. They could've easily included the complete sessions on those RVGs while starting both off with the original track sequence. The Sermon RVG Edition Current playing time: 40:08 Add: What Is This Thing... - 15:12 'S Wonderful - 4.59 Blue Room - 5.31 Little Girl Blue - 5:21 Total playing time would be around 70 minutes. House Party RVG Edition Current playing time: 54:02 Add Cherokee - 20.18 Total playing time would be around 75 minutes. Sounds good to me.
  3. I've got well over 40, but I still regret NOT getting some, believe it or not.
  4. I also have 9, and regret one: Anita O'Day. Nine CDs of Anita is about 6 or 7 more than I need at this point. Ouch!
  5. People keep demanding more and more powerful batteries in their laptops. This is the result.
  6. Shocking and sad that he passed away so young. I forgot that he was in Modern Romance!
  7. It's "edumacated" ain't it?
  8. Laptops and amunition don't mix.
  9. Yeah, I gotta say, it doesn't look too good.
  10. I can never remember Herbie Steward.
  11. Me too. One of my favorite BN covers.
  12. You're not. Once upon a time, though (at least at the Borders where I was a music dpt. manager, and I'm pretty sure it was like this at other stores), we were allowed to do one-stop special orders about once a week, and we frequently stocked up on coming-to-town titles. However, my understanding is that that ability to special-order through one-stops was curtailed and/or eliminated several years ago. That strikes me as pretty damn stupid.
  13. Same here. So much for 'upgrading.'
  14. There's also East Coasting, another Bethlehem album that's not exactly well known, probably for the same reasons as the other one. Which label you record for can make a big difference.
  15. Kalo, I just got that book a couple weeks ago--ordered it after my wife & I saw a segment related to Houdini on a PBS program. Looks to be a good read. I used to have a copy, but it made an amazing escape from my collection.
  16. Yeah, maybe the tapes were stolen by a cadre of moon-landing-deniers.
  17. What a bunch of idiots. Maybe the National Archives should have kept the tapes.
  18. I must admit to liking some Country-Western. I love my jazz, but there are times when only Hank Williams will do.
  19. Not a damn thing! Exactly. Indeed.
  20. Yeah, Happy Birthday...you.
  21. Mobley, Mingus, Sun Ra, and Lee Konitz: It's a GOOD THING.
  22. I know what you mean, this cover had (and has) the same effect on me. There's just something about it.
  23. The Discoveries, by Alan Lightman. I know that Lightman is also a novelist, but I find his prose a little lacking at times. Still, an interesting book.
  24. I also watched Mike Douglas after school quite a bit, particularly in the first half of the 70's. Mike always seemed like a decent sort of guy...whereas I found Merv Griffin a little creepy, even then. RIP, Mike.
  25. I can't help thinking (in answer to #2) that it's to prove their versatility. They could prove it a lot more convincingly by playing good piano, or excellent drums, or even tasteful trumpet (Benny Carter comes to mind here.) They probably don't sound good on soprano sax for the obvious reason: Not enough practice. I suspect the insrument demands real dedication to play properly.
