  1. You ARE!!!! (I mean that in a good way.)
  2. "Awesome combination of New Age and Smooth Jazz..." (Mwah Ha Ha Ha---)
  3. Leftover chicken & leeks for me today.
  4. Ah, but the phrase "...will lead you down a smoother path" makes it all worthwhile.
  5. "Boss Guitar" by Wes? Some folks have a really different idea of "jazz" is all I can say.
  6. First of all, forget Pons and Fleischmann! Their experiments are not reproducable in any meaningful way, and.... Oh. Nevermind.
  7. Actually, I was kind of hoping I would have them. (Just kidding.)
  8. The Battle That Stopped Rome, by Peter S. Wells
  9. I've always kind of liked Monorails and Satellites. Nice album.
  10. Been listening to this one again lately, and liking it even more. Lots of Harold Land here, too!
  11. I personally exclude Mr. Bock from the producers "pantheon" for his "production/editing" of any number of dates. I am thankful he lived and worked, but................ Oh yes, he was a mixed bag to be sure, and wasn't shy about stepping on toes. On the other hand, there are a lot of Pacific Jazz albums that I love.
  12. Yes!! You can take that to the bank. Get the Savoys after getting the complete Dials would be my advice.
  13. Nevertheless, it's #1 on my "gotta have it" list.
  14. I'm with you Stefan. Should I suddenly win a billion dollars, then maybe I'll get the thing. Otherwise, I've got other things to spend my money on. Like rent. Okay, but there's no need to get self righteous about it. There's a market for this release, and you don't belong to that market. It's not a personal insult, after all. I myself never got around to picking up London Calling on CD, so I'll grab this version. You don't have to. So, what's the problem? I didn't think I WAS being self-righteous. I just gave my honest, personal, reaction, one that applies to me only. If anyone else wants to get the thing, hey, I say go for it! Woo-hoo! Yowza! I'm personally pleased that there are still people out there who remember the Clash, and if some are fans enough to buy this thing, I have one word for them: EXCELLENT! (But I need to save up for the SCTV box set. )
  15. Among that host: Richard Bock, of Pacific Jazz. Kudos to him and all the rest!
  16. This live date is my favorite Sinatra album. I have a mono LP copy and recently was able to do an a/b with a new version (it's not my copy and was either DVD Audio or SACD) at a friend's place who has a very high end system. We came away feeling that they did an excellent job remastering it. While we both preferred the way Sinatra's voice projected on the mono LP, there was nothing wrong with the new remastering. It caught everything faithfully. I know this isn't exactly on the topic of the thread, but thought I'd share since Sinatra fans will probably be reading this. Good to hear they did all right by the sound, but let's be honest folks, don't we all love it more for the JOKES than for the music?
  17. Oh-oh... I love The Larry Sanders Show, but didn't do my part (yet) by buying the first Season DVD box. Please don't hate my frugality. I needed the money for the Freaks & Geeks box!
  18. I know I'm hardly unique in this, but for me it's Songs For Swingin' Lovers and A Swingin' Affair that get the highest possible recommendation. After that, In the Wee Small Hours and Songs For Young Lovers/Swing Easy are almost as essential.
  19. Me too; gimme his pop stuff any day. I Saw the Light, baby!
  20. I'm with you Stefan. Should I suddenly win a billion dollars, then maybe I'll get the thing. Otherwise, I've got other things to spend my money on. Like rent.
  21. I've got these on vinyl LP and CD. No thank-you, Capitol.
  22. So he's VERY unsung.
  23. Bob Brookmeyer Select. Just got this one.
  24. Sounds interesting. (You really should rent Bottle Rocket though.)
