  1. "Life in the hive puckered up my night-- The kiss of death the embrace of life--"
  2. Probably the Brookmeyer select...but really looking forward to the big boxes coming down the pike: Herman, Jazztet, Farlow. Yes!
  3. Wayning Moments. For BN's I would have picked Speak No Evil, but we weren't allowed to vote for more than one. Damnit.
  4. All these projected sets are good news, but I'm really happy about the Jazztet one. A "must have" for me.

I kind of like his Bethlehem record Down Home---anybody heard it?
  6. Doesn't everybody do that?
  7. I can't get it below .2-----my best was .203; not gonna say what my worst was. I'm slow.
  8. Timmons is also on the Lee Morgan album "Lee Way" I believe, along with Jackie McLean. God, I love that record!
  9. Duke Pearson (piano) Pepper Adams (bari sax) Laymon Jackson (bass) Donald Byrd (trumpet) Lex Humphries (drums) Yum! I DON'T have this one yet. Please excuse my drool.
  10. Stuff Smith "Jack Montrose Sextet" "Lee Way" "Flight To Jordan" "Jazz Impressions of Eurasia" Other various Brubecks Vince Guaraldi
  11. Numbers 6 through 9 on the list I'm not really familiar with at all. Much as I love Jackson, Hutcherson, and Dickerson, I threw my vote to Cal Tjader. Why? Two words: "Ginza Samba"
  12. You and me both!
  13. That large store on the corner of Newbury & Mass Ave was, for a few years, absolutely great. By the time they moved though, the selection had already gone downhill. Is Stereojacks still in Cambridge?
  14. Good lord, man---what happened?
  15. Good news this. I like your suggestions for further installments in the series, particularly the Shorty Rogers. I was just listening to some Rogers yesterday...would love to get some more!
  16. I like the album Soul Time---very nice, and with Blue Mitchell too.
  17. I sure hope they do.
  18. My man! (Thanks EKE.)
  19. The very first Stan Getz album I ever bought.
  20. Ghost---Re-Inventing Comics is a good deal less eye-opening than "Understanding" but still interesting. Deals more with the business of comics, what's wrong with the industry as it's run in the US, ways to improve it, ways to attract more readers, comics on the internet, etc. Worth a look, but not the kind of book I'd give to people as Christmas/graduation/birthday presents, as I did with the earlier one.
  21. "Awakening" would make a good AOTW too.
  22. Dig the Oberlin! (Big favorite of mine.)
  23. Somebody just showed this to me today. I wondered how long it would take for that much gas to build up inside---he said it took them 15 hours just to get it on the truck. Imagine...you're eating in a Taiwanese cafe'---then you see a whale on a truck trundle down the street---then it explodes! Life can be strange sometimes, no? Glad no one was hurt though.
