My thousand words boil down to this---it sucks!

He couldn't understand it? This is the way I look at it: I'm very careful with my CD's (and LP's) but once in a while I've dropped one of the damn things. (DOH!!!) What if that happened while I was borrowing someone's OOP Mosaic, or they were borrowing mine??? Sending or receiving CDr's means never having to say you're sorry. (...But that WAS a cool story RDK. You are one lucky guy.)

My advice is to jump on Riding the Nuclear Tiger. Good album, and I started with it too.

I was just about to say, it's nice to see that SOMEbody else in the world also has a raft of those Time/Life Giants of Jazz boxes. Way to go Medjuck! My favorites are the Ellington and Bunny Berigan sets.

I actually find the fog (day after day after godamn day) kind of depressing. But it does keep the heat off, I can't deny that.

If you mean the Tower at the intersection of Bay and Columbus, yeah, for a while their jazz section was surprisingly good. Overpriced but they would have regular sales. Their jazz buyer was a dedicated, knowledgable guy. Then the decline set in over the last two years or so; I didn't go there for some time, and when I went back recently the jazz section seemed purged of stock and there was no sign of that guy. Maybe he quit in disgust. This is all rather depressing because I have an atavistic need for places where I can physically browse through albums. Online just doesn't do it for me.

You got that right! Back then, the Boston Tower ruled. Between that and Stereo Jacks in Cambridge, jazz browsers pretty much had it made. Ah, the good ol' days.

I have the the "normal release" LP purchased in 1980 (or 1979; hard to be sure at this point), and the new remaster now in the stores. Naturally, I prefer the old LP, even if it is mastered at the "wrong" speed-----I'm just too used to it. Almost impossible to choose a favorite track from an album that flows so organically. So What...Freddie Freeloader...Blue In Green...one of those? No, I can't choose.

I think it's time for a Helen Merrill Select.

I saw it Friday and also really liked it. Your description is very accurate Guy, I had a similar reaction. This is the first Kaufman movie I've seen (missed Human Nature) that's consistant all the way through. Much as I enjoyed Malkovich and Adaptation, they both seemed to sort of run out of steam toward the end. This one (Eternal Sunshine) actually had a satisfying, even elegant, ending. It could be seen as a romance film, but modern dark romance, with all the warts, disappointments, headaches, and messiness of real-life romance (and with a generous dose of Philip K. Dick-on-acid thrown in). I found it ultimately rather sobering and touching. Good movie, should be seen by one and all----don't let Jim Carey scare you away.

Hell no! But then, like Dan, I know precious few people who would be interested. I've been known to make tapes, mostly compilations for my erstwhile Boston roomate, about the only person I know who has a jazz habit of similar proportions to my own.

I've noticed that about M too---it bulks large in my collection to be sure. But let's also salute the letter P; any letter that contains both Parker and Pepper is pretty Jazzerific in my book!

I thought so. The show won't be the same without him. He also narrated that American Experiance documentary on Citizen Kane that was included as an extra disc with the DVD.
