  1. Could just as well be called "Album Covers/Titles That Make You Say "YDS" (You Don't Say) There should also be a thread for WGFY---Well Good For You. You don't say... See how it works?
  2. A lot of people seem to think it was Mike, the PI/fixer guy. On orders from either Gus or Saul. But why would Gus sic the twins on Hank, then warn Hank at the last minute? He wants Hank and the twins to kill each other? I'm not sure.
  3. I've really got to read this!
  4. OK, watched Conan on 60 Minutes---good. Watched the new Breaking Bad; almost as good as Conan! Not quite as disturbing though.
  5. Usually, a thread gets locked before I even know it exists.
  6. Hey---Conan's on 60 Minutes tonight!
  7. What a great looking dog! All the best to him!
  8. Really sorry to hear about this.
  9. You lost the final season? How careless...
  10. Bit of a shock. Yes, the more of his stuff I read, the more limited and sentimental it began to seem. The guy had his blind spots, and his stuff got rather annoyingly personal after a while; but he could also be a very good writer at times. Sorry to see him go. RIP
  11. Did anyone see them on Colbert a few days ago? Sharon Jones did a funny interview with Colbert and then the whole group performed a song. It was pretty damn great.
  12. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Catching up with the book after enjoying the movie. Interesting to see all the stuff that the movie left out; though it more or less had to if it didn't want to be six hours long.
  13. God, how I friggin' love that! "Ko-Ko" that is, not frozen pizza.
  14. A couple days ago: New Boots and Panties!! and Reasons to Be Cheerful: The Best of Ian Dury Online, so they haven't come in yet. Sure, there's a lot of overlap, but I have a sudden hankering for some digital Dury.
  15. I got that one too, and glad I did. Two very good albums on that disc!
  16. Watched the new episode of Breaking Bad last night. A good one.
  17. Gerry Mulligan Meets Just About Everyone of Note (250-disc box set.)
  18. That's the paradox of a lot of rock bands.
  19. has not set their status

  20. I'll call you and raise. Is there any good McCartney music other than what he made with The Beatles? Well, that's exactly what I meant by "solo music." Music he made after The Beatles. My take is, yeah, there are individual songs, and Band On the Run is decent. (Though I always got the uneasy feeling that that album was actually designed to appeal to 13-year-olds...) Venus and Mars never did much for me. What it comes down to is that only about 5% of his post-Beatles output can be listened to without the gag reflex kicking in, whereas that proportion is almost exactly reversed with The Beatles. That is to say, about 95% of his Beatles output ranging from acceptable to great, the remaining 5% being stuff like "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," "The Long and Winding Road," "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da," and the like. No doubt everybody's mileage varies.
  21. The Plimsouls...Plus (their first album with B-sides and other extras, oop Rhino, found at Amoeba)
  22. Yeah...that's Mudd's cousin, Ben Mudd, and the women are androids. (Not that there's anything WRONG with that...)
  23. Does McCartney have any good solo music?
  24. I feel like she's looking down on me.
  25. Sounds like a great title for a sequel to The Incredibles, or something like it.
