  1. Toss that thing, chewy, it's probably going to explode.
  2. "Content not found"
  3. Halfway through Season 2 of "Dexter" and the quality is still high.
  4. Nice one! I got this a few years back and never regretted it. BTW, all the talk on a recent thread about Gerry Mulligan made me realize I didn't have Night Lights but I'd been kind of meaning to get it for some time. So I pulled the trigger and it just came in the mail yesterday. Very nice.
  5. It wasn't clear if you'd watched it from episode #1. I don't blame you for not wanting to watch a series about a serial killer. I was pretty much in the exact same boat actually, until, uh...I started watching this series about a serial killer. Not terribly consistent, I know. But hey, at least it isn't about rapacious, politically incorrect advertising men from the early 60's!
  6. Finished season 1 of "Dexter" and really liked it. Nice story arc running through the season, and satisfying finish. And since the penultimate episode was a cliffhanger it really came in handy that I was watching them on DVD. I've got to really hand it to this series, because I'm one of those people who for years has been going around saying that they're sick to death (so to speak) of serial-killer stories in popular culture, but nevertheless it won me over. Well it's one of those series where you really have to start at the beginning.
  7. "Der's gold in dem dar grooves!"
  8. More "Dexter" tonight.
  9. Re-reading this thread reminded me that Carney co-wrote "Rockin' In Rhythm" something that had slipped my mind. One of my all-time favorites of the Ellington band.
  10. Just bought the Jasmine version of the Goodman Carnegie Hall Concert. So much better than that Phil Schaap mess!
  11. "Muddy Eyes Rivers" --That almost makes sense! Don't much care for it though.
  12. A few days ago bought Brubeck's "Gone With the Wind." Excellent album!
  13. Watching season one of Dexter. So far so good.
  14. Excellent collection of his stories, supplanted the old Ballantine "Best of-" which for many years was the go-to Cordwainer Smith collection.
  15. What a coincidence---I used to watch it sometimes with my grandfather. We also used to watch "Flip Wilson" together. Those were the days.
  16. The Larry Sanders Show (complete)---That would be nice.

    DORIS DAY

I think the dismissive attitude of many people to her singing owes a lot to the fact that the style of singing she exemplified went pretty much out of fashion in the 1960's. But the woman did have skills, no doubt about it.
  18. I seem to remember people thinking the series was funny even back then.
  19. Very nice! Thanks for that, Lazaro. (Who's that blond woman who appears at the end?)
  20. I'm glad you had a good time. But the thought of someone being in Rome and missing San Francisco just really throws me for loop!
  21. That looks kind of funny on a board where so many people consider '60s Blue Note LPs as "modern jazz"... Ooh---snap!
  22. I guess the title of that early album, "The Who Sell Out," was more of a prediction than anything else.
  23. Wow...can't believe the Saints won, but I'm very happy for them and for New Orleans.
  24. Packing it in back in 1982 or '83 would have been sufficient.
