  1. Masterson was good last night, but yeah, they have no pitching (and little else). They are, however, about to take 2 out of 3 from Detroit, provided Carl Pavano and a tired pen can protect an 11 run lead for a long 6 outs.
  2. thanks JH. Here's hoping Martinez and Lee perform well for their new teams, and that the collection of prospects meet/exceed everyone's expectations. Cliff Lee brought his arm...and his bat to the NL!
  3. ...and Saturday is Victor Martinez bobblehead night at the Tigers/Indians contest. They are still planning to hand them out.
  4. Does the charged amount match what the entire order should cost? I think this is the only way to confirm that an order actually shipped completely. There is no updating on their orders page for partial fills.
  5. I’ve largely been missing in action in this thread—seems appropriate given that the Indians have also been missing in action for the entire 2009 season. I knew there would be trades—not at all surprised by shipping away Mark DeRosa, Rafael Betancourt, or even Ryan Garko. Don’t yet know what to make of the trades of Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez. Still a bit numb. These are no longer the Indians I know. For Lee (along with under achieving young outfielder Ben Francisco), Tribe supposedly received the 2nd, third, fourth, and tenth best prospects in the Phillie organization. At the same time, the Tribe didn’t get any of the players coveted by Toronto (Drabek and Happ). So is the Phillie organization that stacked with prospects? Did Tribe walk away with a lot less than they could have gotten for the AL Cy Young Award winner who coleads MLB in quality starts (and gets little/no run support)? Any Phillie fans have opinions to offer on the quartet the Tribe received for Lee and Ben Francisco: right-handers Carlos Carrasco, Jason Knapp, if Jason Donald and c Lou Marson? Some think these guys will be starting soon (next year). I’m skeptical (but really uninformed). The irritating thing about this is that the Tribe could have contended next year in the mediocre AL Central, but these deals more than likely set them back at least another full year (and probably longer). Nothing like running up the white flag for 2010 at the 2009 trading deadline. Lee and Martinez both had very affordable salaries for next year. This wasn’t a walk year situation like Sabathia. Paul Hoynes, the beat writer for the Plain Dealer, however, reminds us that a team does get more in a trade when the player has more than half a season left on his current contract. The classic example of this is the great Colon for Sizemore, Lee, and Brandon Philllips trade—Colon had another year on his contract when the Tribe dealt him. He was dealt again the following year to Chicago for Rocky Biddle, Orlando Hernandez, and Jeff Liefer. So maybe this was the best time to move the two best players on the Indians. Still it’s revolting. Who’s left on the Tribe? Grady Sizemore of the .230 BA. Shin-Soo Choo who still owes his nation military service? Not much reason to head to the Jake (or Regressive Field as some now refer to it). Perhaps these trades for youth will all be worth it. But I’m a bit stunned. Feels like the old days of being a AAA club for the Yankees or RedSox. Had hoped Tribe would be closer to Bos/NY than KC/Pittsburgh. But Royalty is where they are now. Window of opportunity much narrower for small market teams and Tribe is bailing out now. Did I see somewhere that each current division leader also now leads its division in payroll? This is a lot more frustrating than losing an extra inning game and falling a colossal 2 games out of first with only 60 left to play.
  6. Has anyone actually received the Stitt box, and when did you place your order?
  7. Just in case you're thinking about getting the Burrell somewhere else, it doesn't have the extra tracks that are on the individual Original Jazz Classics CD reissues. Thanks for the tip. This was not an essential title in my order.
  8. I've used avast for a few years now and have had no problems.
  9. Interesting. My box of 6 arrived today. The two missing items were the Stitt box and Burrell All Day Long & All Night Long. So among other things I received Jimmy Woods Conflict and K2 of Rollins' WorkTime.
  10. Sounds promising. My credit card just got charged an amount equal to the total for 6 of 8 remaining items in my order--looks like one $4.98 title and one $5.98 title (which is either Burrell All Day Long & All Night Long or Rollins WorkTime) won't be included in the second shipment.
  11. All of the titles I received from the Fantasy portion of the sale had spine notches. The two that were not part of sale (Brackeen, Weston) did not have notches.
  12. I placed an order for 21 titles on July 5. It shipped out on July 14, and arrived today. It included only 13 of the 21 titles. What I received: African Cookbook by Randy Weston All Day Long & All Night Long by Kenny Burrell Coolin' by Teddy Charles The Hawk Flies High by Coleman Hawkins [K2] Invitation by Joanne Brackeen The Life of a Song by Geri Allen Many Moods of Christmas by Robert Shaw / Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus Monk's Music by Thelonious Monk [K2] Montreux '77 by Ray Bryant Passion Dance by McCoy Tyner Teo Macero & The Prestige Jazz Quartet by Teo Macero Timeless Portraits and Dreams by Geri Allen What I didn't receive: All Day Long & All Night Long by Kenny Burrell Conflict by The Jimmy Woods Sextet Ellington Is Forever, Volume 2 by Kenny Burrell Jazz Contrasts by Kenny Dorham Really Big by Jimmy Heath Serenade To A Bus Seat by Clark Terry WorkTime by Sonny Rollins Stitt's Bits: BeBop Recordings 1949-1952 by Sonny Stitt So this is a bit of a bummer. No Stitt set. Emailed shipping notice had no indication of the partial fill (nor does my account online today). Invoice includes the following: "UNSHIPPED ITEMS? Please Read!!! We keep most unshipped items on backorder for up to 30 days from the date of the original order, at which time the backorder will automatically cancel without further notice. Items marked C/O (cut-out) or LMTD (limited) will not be backordered...." As far as I can tell, none of my unshipped items are denoted as cutouts or limited (but of course I wouldn't be surprised if they were one or both of these). Can't complain too much. 13 interesting titles for $71.71 delivered
  13. Charlie the Tuna fears Victor Martinez, intentionally walking him in an All-Star Game.
  14. Saw this at a matinee on Fourth of July. At various points duing the film, I was wondering why there didn't seem to be much of a story. Big shootouts, some quiet time, some more shootouts. And were the feds really as dufus-like as they are portrayed in this movie? If so, no wonder Dillinger ran wild for so long. Depp was excellent with his material, but definitely a flick you can catch on dvd or matinee.
  15. From mine too. But still "Waiting for Back Ordered Products" at top.
  16. Interesting. My order also shows this. Two exceptions are titles that I found outside of the sale, Joanne Brackeen's Invitation and Randy Weston's African Cookbook. For these, there is no mention of Special Order Item. Maybe SOI only denotes that the items were part of the Fantasy Warehouse Clearance Sale. Patience.
  17. Or how about the now popular oldies.com ($11.88)? Don't know that it's actually in stock, but... Waiting Game
  18. I placed my order on June 11. It shipped on June 19. It arrived sometime in June 23-26. All 14 items shipped, including Gil Evans & Ten and This is Criss!.
  19. I believe shipping is something like $2.95 for the first disc and $1 per disc thereafter.
  20. ...how could I forgot that other pathetic ex-Cub, Joe Borowski.
  21. Kerry Wood sucks whatever.... Asked to get only 3 outs from the bottom of the Cubs order, and can't get it done. This guy is no different than Bob Wickman, or Fausto Carmona (as closer), or (last Tribe year) Jose Mesa. How tough can it be? Closer spot in Cleveland has been cursed... Thought I'd start paying a bit more attention to AL baseball, but maybe I shouldn't. Life is too short (and the late innings too long).
  22. Relax. No point at all. Enjoying a baseball card of a relatively successful Cleveland Indian pitcher (...they are in relatively short supply). My card collecting days started about 15 years later.
  23. Flip that Mudcat Grant card over (gently).
  24. But Carmona and Rafael Perez are still massive headcases. So maybe I should meditate on what big men the Cavs try to acquire...
  25. And they are still optimistic that if/when Sizemore, Betancourt, Laffey, and Westbrook return, they may be able to make a run in the mediocre AL Central. Here's hoping. ...And Hafner went deep tonight. A little too much Bob Uecker.
