  1. Nice! Love the Cornbread T-shirt too!
  2. Continuing my RUSH kick with . . . Rush - Counterparts (Atlantic/Anthem, 1993) It's by Canadian graphic artist Hugh Syme. He designed Rush's covers from the mid-70s onwards. I like how the simple, red exterior contrasts with the minutely detailed inner gatefold image -- with the three spheres providing continuity across both:
  3. Oscar Peterson Trio + One Clark Terry (Mercury, 1964) with Ray Brown & Ed Thigpen
  4. More Jimmy Rushing: Listen to the Blues with Jimmy Rushing -- with Pete Johnson & Band (Jazztone, 1956)
  5. The Jazz Odyssey of James Rushing Esq. -- with Buck Clayton & His Orchestra (Columbia, 1957)
  6. No argument from me on that.
  7. Enrico Rava Quintet - Andanada (Soul Note, 1983) with Pietro Tonolo (ts), Franco D'Andrea (p), Giovanni Tomasso (el-b), and Bruce Ditmas (d)
  8. Next up: Joanne Brackeen with Eddie Gomez - Prism (Choice, 1979)
  9. Now spinning: Quincy Jones - Gula Matari (A&M, 1970) ❤️
  10. That's a terrific record.
  11. Freddie Hubbard – trumpet Hadley Caliman – tenor saxophone, flute Phil Ranelin – trombone Billy Childs – keyboards, piano Larry Klein – bass Carl Burnett – drums Paulinho da Costa – percussion
  12. Rush - Hold Your Fire (Mercury, 1987)
  13. Yep. I fully agree.
  14. Rush - A Show of Hands (Mercury/Anthem) Live recordings from the Power Windows (1986) and Hold Your Fire (1988) tours.
  15. Next up: Freddie Hubbard - Skagly (Columbia, 1980)
  16. Shocked & saddened to hear this news. R.I.P. He loved the music.
  17. Japanese pressing Yes. "Baffling" for sure. I was hoping Elemental would include it in their Xanadu reissue series from a few years ago. But no luck. They chose Cuber Libre instead.
  18. Another one from James Moody: Comin' on Strong (Argo/Cadet, 1964)
  19. Just looking back thru this thread, I was immediately struck by Mike's comments about Mwandishi and Crossings from ten years ago. I couldn't agree more! They're MIND-BLOWERS.
  20. So true. He was a giant.
