Metheny / Mehldau (Nonesuch, 2006) I've seen this album compared to the Bill Evans/Jim Hall collaborations, but I think it's much closer--in terms of its overall vibe, if not instrumentation--to ECM albums from the 1970s like Crystal Silence or Matchbook or Bright Size Life.

Rick Margitza - Hands of Time (Challenge, 1995)

If I recall correctly, David Lean's films Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago had intermissions. Maurice Jarre composed the music for both. Hearing (more of) EKE's music would be too much of an incentive to stay in my seat, rather than making a dash to the concessions stand or restroom.

To the best of my knowledge, here are a few more Inner City "originals" -- releases that weren't leased from another label: - John Stowell - Golden Delicious - Ray Mantilla - Mantilla - Bill O'Connell - Searching All relatively obscure, but some darn good records, IMO. I bet there are more. Per Discogs, Cosmos was released on Cobra -- a French label that I've never heard of -- a year before the Inner City release. So my GUESS would be... probably not. Regardless of the original label, the music is OUTSTANDING.

This disc comes FLYING out of the gate with Strozier's smoking, Coltrane-esque version of the Marvin Gaye classic. Along with a cup of strong coffee, the music is serving nicely as a much needed Monday morning pick-me-up. Such a great album. BIG

Yes, that appears to be the case. I just checked Discogs, and Tom Barney plays on Miles' Star People. I would've never made the connection if you hadn't asked.
