I haven't noticed any seasonal patterns in my listening. I do go through "phases" when I concentrate narrowly on a genre or artist or time period. But I don't think it's anything recurrent, like the seasons. A phase might come back around again. But it's random.

Another recent arrival in my mailbox: Lawrence "Bud" Freeman - The Joy of Sax (Chiaroscuro, 1975) with Jess Stacy & Cliff Leeman and James Moody - Great Day (Argo/Cadet, 1963)

Bobby Watson - The Inventor (Blue Note, 1990) and Jan Garbarek - Paths, Prints (ECM, 1982)

I had the Wounded Bird reissue and then I gave it to a friend when I got the The Columbia Albums 1971-1975 set. ... I guess I'm not enough of an audiophile to have noticed much of a difference. In any case, like others have said, I would DEFINITELY recommend hearing it -- in one form or another. Here's a brief write-up on Live in Tokyo from my 70s jazzblog.

Beethoven: Sym. No. 7 / Giulini, Chicago SO -- as heard in this set:

Beethoven: Sym. No. 9 "Choral" / Böhm, VPO, et al -- as heard in this set: Wonderful. I'm not familiar with any of Rozhdestvensky's Tchaikovsky recordings. But it wouldn't surprise me if they were excellent too. Rozh's Shostakovich recordings are also outstanding. Me too. I love Walter's way with the Second as well.

Hilton Ruiz - Hands on Percussion (RMM, 1995)

I hope you enjoy it. In my experience, Inner City pressings usually aren't quite as good as their Euro-pressed counterparts. But IMO the difference is nowhere near enough to be a deal-breaker -- especially when the music is as good as African Nite.
