  1. NP: David Liebman & Richie Beirach - Mosaic Select 12 Disc 1 - Lookout Farm, recorded live at the Keystone Korner, 1976 Tremendous.
  2. The Albert Nicholas Quartet with Art Hodes (Delmar) Unlike the photo above (which I snagged from ebay), my copy of the LP has the original Delmar (with no "k") record label.
  3. You could just grab the image off the internet. You'd want it to be as large and as high-resolution as possible.
  4. Bluesnik, you might try Photobucket.com. I think you can upload an image to their site, and they can make a poster of it, whatever the pic may be. Not certain. But I think it's worth investigating if you're unable to find it thru other channels.
  5. Nice! You're a lucky guy!!!
  6. To all who celebrate the holiday, MERRY CHRISTMAS! Today, I've been listening to a couple LPs featuring Coleman Hawkins: The High and Mighty Hawk (Affinity, originally Felsted) Jazz Reunion - with Pee Wee Russell (Barnaby, originally Candid)
  7. Jimmy Smith for me too.
  8. The music's good too.
  9. I saw this last night with my wife and son. Powerful film. I'm still thinking about it.
  10. Yep. See Chuck's note above. Can't get anything by you guys!
  11. Oh yeah! I guess it wasn't a "one-off."
  12. Yup. All of records in that BN set are stone classics. But I love JS's Verves too. They're just a bit less consistent.
  13. Duke Ellington Presents . . . (Bethlehem) Since this was a one-off recording for Bethlehem (and since about half the cuts are standards rather than Ellington compositions), it's easy to overlook -- but I really like it. Just listen to "Laura," a feature for Paul Gonsalves. Phew, that guy knew how to caress a ballad. (Of course, the same could be said of Hodges' playing on "Day Dream.") ... This is also the last record before Ellington's "comeback" at the Newport Jazz Festival. Ellington recorded DE Presents in February 1956, and Newport was in July of that same year.
  14. Disc 1 - originally released as The Real Thing and Portrait of Jenny
  15. Louis Armstrong - The Complete RCA Victor Recordings (BMG) Disc 4 - The 1947 Town Hall Concert with the All Stars Thanks again to Jeffcrom for sending me a copy of the liner notes for this set -- and to the others who offered as well. There are many knowledgeable and FRIENDLY folks on this forum. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
  16. Two of my favorite Ellington recs.
  17. Another Flanagan trio. This time with Mraz & Elvin. Eclypso (Inner City, from Enja)
  18. Tommy Flanagan, Reggie Workman, Joe Chambers - The Super Jazz Trio (RCA Jazz Line, France) Originally released in Japan on Baystate. I assume this is that label's response to Hank Jones' "Great Jazz Trio," who was recording for the Japanese East Wind label at the time. Excellent music. Super, even.
