  1. Bol, have you looked at www.BagsUnlimited.com? I think they stock what you're looking for. See https://www.bagsunlimited.com/category/504/jewel-cases
  2. When I arrived home from work tonight, a package was waiting for me -- a big box of used CDs that I'd ordered from Discogs. Just finished: Pat Martino - The Maker (Evidence/King Japan, 1995) with Jim Ridl (p), Marc Johnson (b) and Joe Bonadio (d) Martino in a contemplative mood. Superb. Now playing: Dave Liebman Group - Voyage (Evidence) with Vic Juris (g); Phil Markowitz (p, synth); Tony Marino (b, el b); Jamey Haddad (d, perc, vo); Café (perc, vo)
  3. with Sir Roland Hanna, Ron Carter, and Louis Hayes
  4. Wow. That was a Hollywood marriage. Lasted for all of six weeks. As a Falcons fan, I wish the Saints continued futility.

  9. I'm not sure what "boiling over" means either -- unless you're talking about a pot on a stovetop! As for "bowling over," see definition 2 below: bowl over v. 1. To knock someone or something down to the ground: The kids ran down the hallway, bowling over everyone in theirway. A strong wind will bowl that billboard over. 2. To make a powerful impression on someone; astound someone: She bowled over everyone at the meeting with her amazing presentation. His new songs bowled me over, so I bought his new CD. You must go hear this poet—you will be bowled over!
  10. The Dave Liebman Group - Turnaround: The Music of Ornette Coleman (Jazzwerkstatt, 2010)
  11. danasgoodstuff, I pretty much agree with your assessment. I've enjoyed The Sermon, and it's interesting to hear the sacred works in a jazz context -- but it's never really bowled me over like some other HH recordings have. IIRC, The Sermon was the last recording Hawes made before he was sent to prison. With a few exceptions, I like the music Hawes made after his incarceration best.
  12. Dave Liebman - Homage to John Coltrane (Owl, 1987) On tracks 1 - 5: Dave Liebman (ss); Jim McNeely (p); Eddie Gomez (b); Adam Nussabaum (d, perc); Caris Visentin (oboe) On tracks 6 - 10: Dave Liebman (ss); Jim Beard (synth); Mark Egan (el b); Bob Moses (d, perc); Caris Visentin (oboe)

  15. Jane Ira Bloom - Meets Jackson Pollack: Chasing Paint (Arabesque) with Fred Hersch, Mark Dresser, and Bobby Previte Great! Al Harewood is on fire.
  16. The Bert van den Brink Trio with Rick Margitza - Conversations (Challenge)
  17. Joanne Brackeen with Eddie Gomez - Prism (Choice) Adam Kolker - Reflections (Sunnyside)
  18. Another excellent JIB LP from the 1980s: Jane Ira Bloom - Slalom (Columbia) with Fred Hersch (p), Kent McLagan (b); and Tom Rainey (d, perc)
