  1. Now streaming:
  2. You won't regret it! 😉
  3. Another trio from Brazil:
  4. Next up: Charles Tolliver - Mosaic Select 20 Disc 1 - originally released as Live at Slugs, Vols. 1 & 2 (Strata-East)
  5. I noticed the bright yellow leaves through the windows in our living room and snapped this photo from the back porch.
  6. From the new, big Charles Ives box: Wonderful.
  7. Now playing: Mario Bauzá and the Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra - 944 Columbus (Messidor, 1994) Bauzá's final album.
  8. Excellent review. Thanks for sharing your impressions, Pim!
  9. Prompted by discussion elsewhere on the forum:
  10. This set immediately comes to mind: Various Artists - Atlantic Rhythm and Blues 1947-1974 (8 CDs)
  11. Ooooof. That's a bummer. Sorry to hear that, Clifford. So true!
  12. Next up: Lars Danielsson, David Liebman, Jon Christensen, Bobo Stenson - Far North (Curling Legs NO, 1994) As spare and ECM-ish as you might expect. It was even recorded in Rainbow Studio in Oslo.
  13. Now playing: Lee Morgan - Live at the Lighthouse (Blue Note, 1971) I'm listening to a playlist that recreates the sequencing of the original 2-LP release. The crème de la crème.
  14. Oh yes. Konitz and Solal together are ALWAYS special.
  15. NP: as heard in this 3-CD set:
  16. Prompted by the @Referentzhunter post above: Disc 1: - Violin Concerto No. 1 in B Flat, K. 207 - Violin Concerto No. 3 in G, K. 216 - Violin Concerto No. 4 in D, K. 218 - Adagio in E For Violin and Orchestra, K. 261 - Rondo in C For Violin and Orchestra, K. 373 Arthur Grumiaux makes such a LOVELY sound with the violin!
  17. IIRC, this was my introduction to Martial Solal. Yep!
  18. Peter Apfelbaum - Luminous Charms (Gramavision, 1996)
  19. I have Burns' second LP, Warming Up, since it includes an early Bobby Hutcherson sideman appearance. The album sleeve doesn't mention a producer. Good idea!
