  1. Game is basically over right now. Pittsburgh seemed the cooler team, while Seattle showed inexperience throughout. I'd have to say the better team won.
  2. Refs really hurt the Seahawks on their last failed drive. Dubious holding call negates a Jeremy Stevens catch at the one yard line; pentalty backs them out of FG range. Hasselbeck throwns an INT and gets tagged 15 yards on another dubious penalty for hitting low. Steelers then score on the good field position given to them. Refs suck....
  3. Troy P often plays like an un-guided missile....
  4. It's about time that Jeremy Stevens did something. He dropped two catches earlier and looked shy after the media fights w/ Joey P over the last week. Now he just caught a TD pass to put Seattle back in the game. Seattle puts together drives but they've been falling short when the Steeler defence tightened up. You get the feeling that Seattle can move the ball on offense. They can win this game.
  5. Anyone planning to hang out this evening? It's snowing over here in Ohio....
  6. BF, do us all a favor and take a "SCOTCH" run, okay?
  7. Not at all. I was enjoying the chat about art museums etc. I had a buddy over and couldn't hang at that time.
  8. Lot of people floated in and out last night. Participants: Aggie, BFrank, Wes, Jim A., Big Al, Conn,Free For All (later on), SS1 (for a little while) Uncle Skid. Let's see if I can remember the playlist.... Jack Wilson, "Something Personal," Charles Earland, "Intensity," Miles at the Plugged Nickel, disc 2, Jimmy Smith, "The Sermon." Larry Young, "Unity." May have been another one...
  9. Why would a P-Panther box include "The Party"?? Maybe not so much for Sellers, but the '55 version of "The Ladykillers" is subtle insanity of the highest level! "The Party" isn't Pink Panther, but Blake Edwards did direct it along with the P-Panther films. That's about the only connection. I'd like to see a box set of the Blake Edwards/Peter Sellers collaboration.
  10. I'll eventually pick up the P-Panther box set. Too bad it doesn't include "The Party," which might be my favorite of all Sellers' films.
  11. Are you kiddin'? I have to raise my maturity level while present in the chat room. You said it, not us! Meanwhile...I recently picked up "Easterly Winds" on someone's recommendation (I don't remember who - probably Big Al). It hasn't lit a fire for me, but maybe I just need to give it time. After all, when you've got Lee Morgan and Jackie McLean on board, something's gotta be happening! Jack Wilson, "Something Personal" is better. There's a Conn version, and I've always wanted to play that one on the joint-listening sessions, but no one else seemed to have it. Damn Big Al!
  12. "Now Hear This!" by Duke Pearson. I enjoy Duke's later work, and it isn't well represented on cd format outside of the Mosaic Select (and its crappy mastering.) I don't believe the above title has ever been issued on cd.
  13. I'm going with the Sea-dawgs in an upset.
  14. I can't make it tonight, but I can likely join in Friday night. Anyone else on EST around here who might want to join in on the fun?
  15. BTW, did I happen to mention last night that Grant Green was a great guitar comper?
  16. Jack Wilson's EASTERLY WINDS, I hope! I'm open to anything, but we've usually got a few people missing the selected music. This might restrict us to RVGs or Mosaics. We kind of decide the music on the wing then haggle over it for 15 minutes as we see if anyone is missing the disc. Ron S. apparently has to overcome some kind of surreal obstacle course at home in order to reach his precious hoard of jazz cds. BF remains alarmingly sober yet too willingly condescends down to our lower maturity levels--again without the stimulus of alcohol. (Not a good sign!) We'll forgive him once he gets his bottle of Scotch. Let's try and play stuff everyone has; otherwise, some of us will have to listen to their own tunes, while reading about "gmfg!" "bjmfp!" etc. If you've got an extensive music collection, this is the place to be!
  17. Hans visited us one evening and probably discovered the maturity level was that of a frat house. I think it helps that we all play the same cd; otherwise, the talk would meander into multiple directions. Maybe that wouldn't be bad at all. I would say, however, that you've got to lower your maturity level in order to enjoy what's going down. Otherwise, it would likely be dull.
  18. Poor Wes is right. We do make fun of him; but no one escapes abuse. In fact, I don't think he is teased anymore than I am or BF or SS1. It's all part of the fun. Last night, we were imagining all the places you might be jeepin' to, Wes.
  19. Last night's playlist: Joe Henderson, "Mode for Joe" Stanley Turrentine, "Never Let Me Go" Big John Patton, "Got a Good thing Going" Big John Patton, Mosaic, disc 3 did I leave anything out? participants: SS1, Conn, BFrank, Big Al, Ron S. Jim Dye. Kenny Weir was bored at work and kept popping in and out!
  20. Ok BF. You're in too. (get some Scotch will you....)
  21. $140-150? SS1, will you let those dumb Steeler fans know that Lambert has long been retired?
  22. That's right, bro. 5 stars all the way. I got lots of other good suggestions too, but you've got to have the cds in order to play them. I'm still working on a B-3 compilation to get to some of you guys.
  23. You get your Troy P. Fathead yet, SS1? :rsmile:
  24. Very funny story! It's sad to lose such nice pottery, but it sounds as if it were meant to be. Good thing the fellow wasn't hurt.
