  1. I'm stumped, Bol, where is "the birthplace of Hoagy Carmichael?"
  2. I love Wayne Shorter and it's so hard to pick a favorite. I selected "Adam's Apple," which is a masterpiece. I love most of the others. "Odyssey of Iska" your favorite, huh Jim?
  3. My guess is that he's way too old to care. B)
  4. There's another example of another newcomer who has helped this board: WNMC! I say we are better than the BNBB ever was, or we will be!
  5. Why can't we have the same conversations over here? We're all the same people sans Tom Evered? It looks to me as if we have brought the BNBB over here with us and added some cool people (like Evan for example) and we're better than ever. What am I overlooking?
  6. Duke Pearson (piano) Pepper Adams (bari sax) Laymon Jackson (bass) Donald Byrd (trumpet) Lex Humphries (drums)
  7. It's a good one.
  8. Excellent! A dab of milk like the English do... B)
  9. Sorry for being late here. This thread was hidden right above the Janet-showing-tit thread. Happy Birthday guys!
  10. Played a few times. Best time: .205 but I didn't have my tea yet.
  11. BTW, I think the Babe thread is fine (though I love to make jokes about it.) My only problem with it is that it takes too long for the pictures to show up, so I get bored and move on. Same goes for the Art thread. Wish I had the patience for that one. Also I don't remember how to post pictures. And I don't know the websites to visit like Beri and Jazzbo and Sangry and Evan do. Hey Evan or Couw, I've got an idea for a thread: post a famous painting and let's all interpret it--humorous or serious. Sounds like fun!!
  12. Very helpful Chuck... You're somewhere around Grand Rapids aren't you?
  13. How about John Patton, "Soul Connection?" Anyone ever heard it?
  14. I was referring to the new RVGs. I can help you out Couw if you need me to pick up some stuff for you here. Otherwise, it's RON MCMASTER!!
  15. Where exactly is Muskegon? Hey Upright: make sure Jim doesn't sit in front of his speakers.
  16. Just keep your older masterings then Couw. No big deal. "Upgrading" is for the birds anyway.
  17. Can you elaborate on that a little, Jim? Any particular tracks worth hearing for those experiments? I don't have the Mosaic set, but I've got a lot of the old stuff on individual cds. Which cds do you think has a lot of his early experimenting?
  18. Good question. Anybody know? Hope they don't start that stuff up for the local market; otherwise, I'm keeping my older versions.
  19. It's a reflection of its former scarcity. Obviously, that will no longer be the case now that the RVG is coming out. Few had copies of this session since it only appeared on LP prior to being issued in Japan. Donald Byrd, "Live at the Half Note" is a must-have.
  20. Novel? Saki never wrote anything longer than five pages. His oevre consists of finely crafted little short stories. Start with "Tobermory." Can't get better than that. I gave my own copy out to someone and have never gotten it back. It's easy enough to find another copy. You find his stuff in short story anthologies. Report back when you've read a few...
  21. True enough, SS, but some like myself are unable to access the board while I'm at work. I have to come home to post. Can't do it at work. I vote for the Saturday. I'm sure we can all try to be available. And March 6th really is the true anniversary.
