  1. Mine arrived today. Thanks!
  2. Or how about when Tiger was taking a difficult shot from the gallery, and a bunch of bozos repeatedly yelled "yeah!" after Tiger's shot while it turned out to be an off shot. They couldn't discriminate between a good or a bad shot.
  3. Last month at M-Tel, Chucky was threatening to break Karpov's record. Karpov set his record at a star studded Linares event. Magnus' tournament cannot compare in terms of quality of opposition.
  4. This is an excellent point. Notice the top 5 are still aged by today's chess standards. Magnus still has a crappy record against Anand, though he pulled his first win from him this year. We'll have to see. Hard to imagine Magnus continuing his performance throughout this tournament. He's likely to cool down a bit.
  5. Another year gone by. Happy Birthday, Kevin.
  6. Yes, much is happening while Kramnik and Anand stay quiet as they prepare for their monumental match. Magnus, Moro, and Chucky are making big moves up the elo charts by winning tournaments impressively. Nice to see the old man Chucky get some nice results. Magnus is world champion material. Could he be ready by next cycle? I still think Aronian will be in the picture as well. The Topalov-Kamsky match seems to be of peripheral importance right now.
  7. Vapid lyrics is probably the biggest reason that I dislike pop music. Then there is also the fact that you get tired of the song after about five hearings. Wish I could quote some lyrics, but I don't think I know any pop lyrics from beginning to end. Donovan Leach had the dumbest lyrics of all but the tunes were great. "First there is a mountain, then there is no mountain, then there is?"
  8. It's been discussed on this forum: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=36284
  9. Was planning to go to Florida, but gas prices say "no." I'm staying put.
  10. Love Tetley tea but never tried it in a microwave. Am I missing out on something really good here?
  11. additional pm sent on Paul Desmond Quartet Live.
  12. pm sent on Keith Jarrett, "Setting Standards."
  13. 21 years for us. Congrats!
  14. PM sent on Keith Jarrett, "Inside Out."
  15. Hot tea, though it's rather late in the evening. I like Tetley black tea.
  16. It's sad that this thread has deteriorated into another pissfest. The fight has carried over from another thread, and from my point of view, Chas didn't start this one. Let the subject drop, guys. No one comes out of this a winner.
  17. After doublechecking, I realized that Tim Conway is not from Toledo. He is a graduate of Bowling Green State University (my alma mater,) which is located in Bowling Green, Ohio--30 minutes south of Toledo. I got conn-fused!
  18. Mamedyarov is another who seems to pick up points beating up lower rated players. His record against other top 10 players is abysmal. Nice to see Chucky kick some butt. Magnus=real deal.
  19. Korman and Tim Conway were/are great. Tim Conway is a native Toledoan, by the way. (Thought I might slip that in) I saw Korman and Lyle Wagoner in person once as a kid back in 1969. They were staying in a Holiday Inn while doing a show.
