  4. Two softboiled eggs, two sausage patties, an english muffin and a cup of coffee. Same as every morning.
  5. I paid too much, probably, as much as I tried, I couldn't do it myself. Heck, I tried, believe me. I've been through this a time or two, but this time I couldn't get anything to work.
  6. An interesting thread to find at 11:57 at night...
  7. I'm not sure if this is the one that got me or not; I just got my computer back from the shop today. Whatever had me was a fake antivirus program as well, and the more I tried to get rid of it, the worse it got. I'd never had something that was so bad that it wiped out all my prior restore points in system restore. The tech had to just wipe everything out and reload the software, so I lost all my bookmarks, pictures, etc.

  9. I tend not to buy scores. The only thing I have is a set of 78s of the original cast doing Oklahoma that I've never even heard. I just bought it in a thrift store because "it was cool". The idea of this item being cool shows exactly how out of it I am, I suppose...
  10. I thought Kraftwerk already sounded like this...
  11. Shit! They got old; I thought it was just me...
  12. I had to grab my phone and play along...
  13. I heard Lene Lovich's New Toy in a store once; I thought that was a bit odd. Maybe I'm seeing irony where it isn't...
  14. Um...the link just takes me to my "my eBay" page; is it me, or is something off?
  15. I find that post a bit surprising. Were you guys who are musicians surprised to find out that it's a horrible career choice money-wise? I mean, it was obvious to me that unless you were incredibly lucky (and, of course, had the sense to be into rock or country; rap wasn't around yet) that wanting to be a professional musician either meant a teaching gig, or else you were like the kid on the playground who was "going to play in the NBA". I don't mean this as a putdown; I just assumed that people who were musicians were just so devoted to their music that they had no choice in what they did rather than they expected to make a decent living at it. I hope this post doesn't come across as snide; I don't mean it that way at all!

  18. That name rings a bell; is he the same Matthews who covered Darkness, Darkness? Thanks to the Savannah, GA FM station (that condescended to playing decent rock rather than top forty for four hours every Saturday night...), that song has been permanently burned into my brain!
  19. You know, if I'd heard this stuff without knowing who it was, I'd swear up and down they had to be from San Francisco, though. edited to add: In spite of the fact that I want to start grabbing Moby Grape, AIrplane and It's a Beautiful Day records I no longer have at this point, I'm loving this stuff. I'm listening to their first right now, and I'll have to spin Leige & Lief before I give up for the night, if only to hear Matty Groves again. Seriously, if I'd known what this stuff was like, I'd have been listening to it at least thirty years ago.
  20. For god's sake, don't tell Bev, but I'm listening to Fairport Convention right now for the first time in my life. I don't know if it's the music, or just the way it's matching my mood, but this is good stuff! Listening to the 20th Century Masters disc on Lala; I was hoping it would give me an overview. The only problem is this weird desire to put on tights and learn to play the lute...
  21. Yes. Heck, if I'd been allowed to walk the six blocks to school in first grade by myself the way I was back in '63 and '64, I probably would have been taken away from my parents and put in foster care...
  22. I have to agree. If lotteries were set up so there were say, 2500 winners of $100,000 apiece instead of one $250,000,000 winner, I'd be more likely to play them. Better odds, more winners, and not enough money to completely destroy your life as you know it sounds like a better system to me. But then, I guess they pull more money in with these large, impossible to win prizes. After all, as I've heard many times, the lotto is for people who don't understand math...
