No, not during the playoffs. Just before, when the Flames AND then the Oilers went down in flames. Even though I live in B.C. the Canucks have never won my heart, hockey-speaking. My jersey has Kipper's number and name on it. The Oilers seemed to be coming up strong, particularly after Nugent-Hopkins joined the team. He seems to be injury-prone, unfortunately. The Oilers will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come, IMO. But as the teams fell to defeat, one by one, I still have to have one playing to care. So, Chicago. They do have Toews and Kane, both impressive, at least during the regular season. Yeah, the Oilers have certainly set themselves up for a return to glory. I wanted to go for Chicago; keep the cup in the west and all that, but I've got too many friends who are Bruins fans. (In a town this small, away from any hockey teams, read that as "one" friend... )

You baseball fans aren't going to believe this, but I went from hardcore baseball nut (you know; one of those annoying ones who would argue the offensive merits of various utility infielders and such) to not following the game at all during the strike. So this list is the first I've heard about Steve Avery losing it. I just assumed he was part of the team for years. Of all the players listed, the one that I would support being put in by the Veteran's Committee is Don Mattingly. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go check stuff out and see if Maddux ever got to 300... Holy shit. (You thought I was kidding, didn't you?)

I don't know about Murphy. He was HOF quality for a stretch, but not a long enough stretch. Part of me hopes he makes it; he was a favorite. But part of me knows that if he makes it I can never complain about Phil Rizzuto again, and that's a lot to give up...
