  1. I'm sure book and interview deals are being signed this very minute. What a joke. ← It gets him out of debt!
  2. aw...this is no fun.
  3. His sister is really cute.
  4. If they don't start showin' Janet Jackson agan, I'm turning it off.
  5. It's interesting how while we're waiting for the results, CNN has live footage of SUVs racing down the highway to the courthouse. Looks kinda familiar... When's my take out arriving?
  6. I rember this great disc that came out a few years back called Molam Lao, which had a bunch of guys mostly from Thailand, I beleive, playing these huge harmonica/accordion-like instruments on these very structured, minimalist but dance-like tunes (as I fondly but hazily recall). Really cool stuff. We actually got loads of play from the late night free-form people who usually play little else but rock and elctronic. --eric ← A yes, the khene. I once had a car acident to the tune of the CD, Jah Wobble - Molam Dub ← Yes! the khene! I hope you (and the record) came out OK. --eric ← I did OK, insurance took care of the car, lawyers took care of the points. Thanks!
  7. This should be fun.

  9. Thanks. I'll be placing an order in the near future.
  10. I just bought four more this week. The one I posted above as well as Molam: Thai Country Groove From Isan, I Remember Syria, and Night Recordings From Bali. The Cambodia disc I already owned is fantastic. Radio India is good, but not one of my favorites. Broken Hearted Dragonflies is in a category of its own. Very good, but very different from the rest of the catalog. ← How is their delivery?
  11. It's a reflex with most people on this board. Anything a Republican does is instantly criticized and ridiculed, no matter what it is. ← Welcome to the Miscellaneous – Non-Political Forum and thank you for making this thread political.
  12. Ok. Maybe my distinction is a bit too fine, but I stand by my words.
  13. I have a sudden urge to order their entire cataloge. Restrain...
  14. Thiswas already posted in the Viva Prog Rock thread. My guess is they play Money.
  15. She's talking about difficulty and I talking about motivation. She's saying it's hard and I'm saying, hang in there kids, it can be done, just stick with it. We're not discussing playing bebop here, this is about reading music.
  16. They made the effort! It's all been fun for me, except for dealing with musicans who can't make an effort to get their act together. And if I didn't pick up the skills I needed, it's only because I was lazy. Mike, you and I are coming at this from two different places, you teach and I don't. You teach childern and I deal with grown musicans. Condi makes it sound difficult and it doesn't have to be.
  17. Yes, both are true, but I think her statement is kind of negative and discouraging.
  18. That's pretty discouraging Condie. Why not tell them: make the effort, practice and you'll get there. But you aren't going to get there if you don't practice or make the effort.
  19. hell freezes over.
  20. I went to sleep atound 6 am and got up again at 10am. This gets me back on track for a few days...
  21. My schedule is all over the map and it's not getting any better. When I work at home, I get up earlier and earlier and I find myself napping in the early evening and not waking until 3. Then I'm wide awake, like now. At least I can get some off hours maintnance done on a server in NYC. Then comes a day where I have to work in NYC (not very far away) and I get in at 8pm or 1 am and it screws with my whole day/night problem, because I got up at 5 am. Ko.yaa.nis.qatsi (from the Hopi language), n. 1. Crazy life. 2. Life in turmoil. 3. Life disintegrating. 4. Life out of balance. 5. A state of life that calls for another way of living. I think I'll play some unplugged guitar guitar and then maybe I can get some sleep and get on track.
  22. Blake, Alex - Now Is The Time: Live At The Knitting Factory DeJohnette, Jack - Music In The Key Of Om Galasso, Michael - High Lines Getz, Stan - My Foolish Heart: Live At The Left Bank Shorter, Wayne - Beyond The Sound Barrier
  23. impressive!
  24. I'll be getting this. I really dig the other two on Verve. There was a time a few years ago when all I knew about WS was his work with Miles and Weather Report. I'm glad I made the effort to change that condition when I made it a point to get into his Blue Notes.
