  1. I don't know about all that. But they certainly should have to pay for all the search and rescue and have a social worker check in with them for a while to make sure they are being responsible with regards to their childrens safety and welfare.
  2. I hope he's OK too - that's a pretty wild story. .
  3. Seriously. I mean, imagine if Keith was strung out on heroin as well. (Although a bit of weed might just mellow him out a bit.) I don't think that's gonna help him. Some kinda 12 program might be the only hope...maybe something like: My Head is Really Huge and I Think Everything Revolves Around Me Anonymous.
  4. Now that I've had a nights sleep, I might add that I 'm quite blown away by Mat's playing. I've heard him before, but never this much, at once. Alexander Waterman, I've never heard before...the name sounds familiar. It's always exciting to hear Evan play, particularly on soprano.
  5. I just got back from an evening at the Stone: two excellent sets by Evan Parker (soprano and tenor saxes), Alexander Waterman (cello) & Mat Maneri (viola)! .
  6. I'd love to own a cello. I tried one that a friend owned and my intonation was pretty decent from playing fretless guitar and bass, but I didn't even try the bow. I didn't get one because I don't have the room or the time to put into it. Maybe that'll change someday. .
  7. Monk's Music and the Guitar by Bobby Broom .
  8. I'm still wondering what the fuss is about Jarrett's piano playing...I got past the grunting and didn't find much there. Maybe some rainy day, I'll try again.
  9. What a moron! What a fool!
  10. A point I've been making for years: More Than Just Minimalism: Making His Melodies With Some Extra Influences more...
  11. What's the vintage of your L5N/CC??? And what are those CC pickups really like??? My L5 is a '66, which was special-ordered with the CC. CC's are somewhat tricky animals to control, but to me, even if you have to sacrifice some aspect of the sound to control noise, they're still magical. I recommend this article: http://www.kokomomusic.com/pages/corner.html also interesting: What makes a Charlie Christian pickup a Charlie Christian pickup? Thank you for posting that link. I've literally been scraping together bits and pieces of technical information about CC's for years, and this will add nicely to what I already had. By the time I get it all figured out, I'll probably be playing another instrument... like a harp. Best Charlie Christian pickup.......?
  12. I never saw him, but isn't there footage of him spinning in Straight, No Chaser? I haven't seen that film in years.
  13. Yeah. we had a piano, my sisters played. My Dad loved classical music, so it was on the radio and on the stereo. Yeah. I took piano lessons when I was real young. I sang in the church choir until my voice changed. But I think I took one or two classical guitar lessons when I was a teenager, the guitar experience was much different. seamless.
  14. listening to Monk on WKCR again. They're playing him on Jazz Portraits until 7pm, EDST. http://wkcr.org .
  15. I listened to quite a bit of the WKCR broadcast when it first came on and then some more while I was driving around today. Thing is...I've been listening to a lot of Monk this year anywayz. !
  16. nothin'. really...there's nothing on my clip board!
  17. I got my other two boxes this morning, two day shipping from a place in Washington's Crossing, NJ (by way of Amazon). I'm not too thrilled about the cut out gouge across the bar codes, but I like the price! .
  18. BTW, the Rain Song is beautiful, I love that tune. .
