  2. and this just in from the NY Times: Maybe Sting and Clapton should do an album with Beck. Rod Stewart can't really sing very well and more so it looks like a reunion with Beck is out of the question. Clapton did shows with Beck earlier this year and there's some scheduled in London for 2010, so I predict an album with at least those two, but they're gonna need a singer. Apparently there was other history made this week at the R'n'R HoFame shows, but it's not very notable at my keyboard.
  3. Thanks! I don't know why I didn't consult the Yahoo Beck list first, I'm a member but it get's busy. (Holy crap, I hope I get to hear this someday!): Jeff Beck: "Drown in My Own Tears" (I've never heard him do this!) Jeff Beck and Sting: "People Get Ready" (different singer - new and improved!) Jeff Beck: "Freeway Boogie" "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" he does these all the time. Buddy Guy with Jeff Beck: "Let Me Love You" Jeff Beck: "Big Block" "Rice Pudding" Billy Gibbons and Jeff Beck: "Rough Boy" Jeff Beck and Billy Gibbons: "Foxy Lady" (El Becko meets Rev. Billy G! They should do an album!) Jeff Beck: "A Day in the Life"

  7. The store display is already missing from my local record store! I didn't check the bins.
  8. That's me - a bottle of water! .
  9. OH I see...there is no such thing as a mild case of addiction.
  10. cheese, please.
  11. Now you tell me. When I moved out here many years ago I needed to establish a new relationship with a herb supplier. Found one in one of my classes, and so afterwards I go over to the house he's sharing with others. As I'm heading out about 1/4 oz heavier than when I went in he shows me a "project" and says "look, we're growing a crystal." I look and nod and say something like "cool." I was so young & innocent (no, make that dumb) that I thought it was one of those kits from childhood. I didn't make the connection for a long time. oh my...there was a hell of an epidemic in my part of NJ 35 years ago. I don't know what happened to those people, but I hope they're going to meetings now.
  12. Phil Collins was considered quite a facile drummer in his time. May not be your cup of tea, but listen to any Genesis album between 1973 and 1981. Or Brand X, or all the studio sessions he participated in. He was a great drummer. He sure was, I hated the big sell out though. He can't play any more. from Wiki"
  13. I'm sorry about your cat. .
  14. No. .
  15. Oh, is that what they call it now?
  16. I guess I haven't been into any NYC stores since they started making them. I see they're making a CW Kingpin with a single cutaway now.
  17. uh oh...time to go on guitar safari and find out what a Kingpin is like! .
  18. My Excel was 700-800 (I forget exactly how much) three years ago when the importer was blowing them out by mail order through their web site. Unfortunately, I'm afraid to play the thing now. I have enough problems with my hands right now - broke both elbows 11 weeks ago - and the action is kinda stiff on that guitar. Maybe I should try lighter strings. I've been taking it easy with my Fender Strat-o-sonic with the short (Gibson) scale neck for now.
  19. one addiction usually just leads to another. vinyl, for example....shits expensive, man.
  20. It's pretty evil hardcore shit anyway, do enough pills and they'll kill you too .
  21. Meth is speed. You sound confused. Yes and no. I'm guessing the form of speed referred to in Noj's post was something more along the lines of benzedrine, cross tops, if you will. That's miles away from meth. Up over and out. Good point. I missed that. All speed is not meth, however...all meth is speed.

  23. I have a few of his poetry books and always kinda wondered about that too.
  24. I'm curious. Making and listening to ambient music is something I did for many years. .
