  1. Sampling Capitol, June Christy and Thad Jones Blue Note sets (1st CD of each) on a French holiday morning. I recently was invested of a large collection of boxes for a very reasonable sum from a family that wasn't using it very much so there will be lots of playing in the months to come.
  2. That was great to read, especially the Stravinsky and Stan Kenton parts. Looking forward to listen to the recording too.
  3. Feldman/ Courvoisier/ Parker/ Mori - Miller's Tale At Dynamo, Pantin
  4. I really appreciate that record too. From what I heard, Grimal has been giving lots of concerts, some of the music of Moondog and has at least two new records to come out this year or the next one. She is also part of the current ONJ lineup. One of the last time I caught her live was with trio Grimal/ Veras/ Dumoulin and really excellent. Seeing Evan Parker tonight - not really new generation, but a great tenor player, at least since that 1995 Okkadisk release (Chicago solo).
  5. Alvin Lucier & Ever Present Orchestra
  6. John Dikeman Alexandra Grimal Sylvain Rifflet
  7. Ivo Perelman, lots of innovation in his playing.
  8. I have already 6CDs so quite tempted.
  9. This set has been spinning here too a lot lately. Truly amazing music (as for the life background pointed above, I aspire to learn more)
  10. I was also lucky to participate in a masterclass he gave on the next day. We were nine to participate on various instruments. A great occasion to observe his playing and hear of influences, from Mal Waldron to Alvin Lucier.
  11. Saw Chris Abrahams (from The Necks) playing solo last week. Exceptional!
  12. Derek Bailey - Aida - Honest Jon's Haven't heard the original but this is a quality reissue.
  13. Nice to see the Marion Brown series above! Disc 4 Eliane Radigue - Adnos I-III - disc one
  14. Quite excited to be listening to this for the first time, found a CD recently.
  15. Thanks Flurin for the details on this Intakt release. Unjust Malaise collects a lot of his best works and has very good notes from Mary Jane Leach. I especially enjoy The Holy Presence of Joan d'Arc on that one, but all tracks are quite something. That release got me seriously interested. If I remember correctly, this interview of him is also quite fascinating: https://spinningonair.org/episode-2-julius-eastman/ There is a recording of one of his pieces Femenine on the Finnish label Frozen Reeds which is also very nicely done. And they also released this track: https://frozenreeds.bandcamp.com/album/joy-boy
  16. Listening to this away from home
  17. I didn't realize it was rare as a CD. ECM should consider re-releasing it.
  18. I have two of these (Wayne Shorter and Blakey& Jazz Messengers) and they use RVG masterings.
  19. Also highly recommend the following album, Tropic Appetites, which bears many similarities and yet might be easier and arguably stronger.
  20. Albert Marcoeur -- Travaux Pratiques (Label frères, 2008)
