White album, maybe. Abbey Road, not so much. After the Get Back sessions, Paul called up George Martin and let him know that he and John were willing to make an album "cooperatively". The Beatles were not fighting during those final sessions as they were during the White Album and Let It Be sessions. True but side 1 seems to be another compromise and the suite idea for side two seemed to be a lot of unfinished ideas (which don't get me wrong still sound great). The rest of us mortals should have such unfinished ideas. Too bad these conflicts couldn't have been surmounted. I suppose today they would hire some sort of band psychologist to help them work through that (something akin to what I saw in that embarassing documentary that Metallica made, Some Kind of Monster).

The AMG review gives a full explanation of the Naked CD, how it's not really the same as the original Let it Be but quite different. The reviewer seems to justify it on the premise that the Let it Be that was issued wasn't exactly a finished album either, just caught in the crosshairs of the Beatles death struggle then going on. In that sense Abbey Road, as well as the White Album, are really incomplete albums as well.

Didn't mean to ignite a controversy but as far as sound goes, I'm a bit more tolerant, especially if it's something that I would not be able to hear otherwise. As far as whether the disc itself is disappointing, I guess that's something I'll have to judge myself

I've just ordered the Naked Let it Be. Interested to see how it really should sound better than that Phil Spector mishmash.

Maybe this has been asked and answered so my apologies if so. When I import a cd into iTunes, it reorders the songs, which is rather annoying. Is there a way to avoid this and if not how do I get them back in the right order?

Saw him at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert last Friday with Jeff Beck. He was wailing for the brief time he was on. No complaints here.

I really find books like this objectionable with their pseudo attempts at sophistication. It really pisses off a person. I finally did get Revolution in the Head and it's an essential job for knowing about them.

Working my way through the mono box, up to Revolver. Help stands out for me; while the mono sounds nice, the stereo seems to explode at you. I couldn't believe it. On the other hand, I much prefer the mono Rubber Soul. Hadn't listened to Hard Days Night in god knows I don't know when so that was a real treat hearing it again. Same for Beatles For Sale. The writing on a couple of the songs is vapid in Help but in this album it's as if the Beatles, John particularly, is talking to you, not just making a record if you know what I mean (unlike the first two albums).

Last year was an aberration for Lidge. Rivera shows why he is who he is: eight pitches and everybody have a nice evening. I would save Burnett for tomorrow. It's more than likely that Lee will prevail anyway so why not put things in your favor by saving him for Game 6.

Davies was pretty good. However, the pairing seemed a little odd. I'm not sure the Hall is all that comfortable with metal. My son, who is a metalhead, would have liked to seen more metal groups besides Ozzy.

Why is Ginger considered a bad drummer? I had always thought he was considered a very good one.

Thanks for posting the above. The part with Billy Gibbons was outstanding as was the song with Sting. The oddest pairing of the evening was Lou Reed with Metallica. Just didn't work. Of course, everbody loved Enter Sandman. I'm actually seeing them at MSG in two weeks time.

Don't recall everything but he played A Day in the Life and some other things that may have been on the Ronnie Scott recordings. He was accompanied by what I believe is his regular band, which includes Tal Wilkenfeld on bass, who is just superb.

I went last night and this was awesome. As I recall, this was who appeared: Jerry Lee Lewis Aretha Franklin Annie Lennox Jeff Beck Sting Buddy Guy Metallica Lou Reed Ozzie U2 The Boss Patty Smith Black Eyed Peas Mick Jagger I'm sure I missed a few. It was fabulous. I'm sure you'll never see that amount of talent on one stage at one time again.

Nice porn pictures there! I had buyer's remorse for about 10 seconds. Then when I slid the white box open...and here I thought I was immune to miniature faithful reproduction. (I imagine the designers are also model railroaders.) And yeah, as said the sound (most important part) is so fuggin' great. I do play these a bit louder than most of my CDs. Play it loud since it's not a "loudness war" victim! Thanks for posting those photos. I'm almost ready to take the plunge. Must.... resist.... Don't resist, do it. :g I had the ole buyer's remorse until I got it home and opened it up and realised, "ah, this is why it's so expensive, it's perfect". The sound on the Mono set will blow even the most jaded Beatles fan away, especially if it's your first time hearing them. Don't resist do it. The thoughtfullness that went into this is very reassuring. I love the packaging, the albums like the way we bought them and the mono sound, just like the way we grew up on them. The whole thing is very sweet. I've been listening to Beatles for Sale (I'm taking each album in chrono order) and listening to them all very carefully.

I'm also a reader not a writer but I am an attorney and with proper proofing and spellcheck typos shouldn't happen although they do. If I happen to review a contract that I wrote months or years after it was signed and notice a typo, I find that pretty annoying. You don't want to be in the same room with me when that happens It's all about pride in your craft and the quality of your work.

I can't say I've ever had jazz accordion but it would strike me as an instrument that wouldn't lend itself to jazz but what do I know?
