  1. That indeed is terrible. I wish him the best.
  2. Being out in the burbs, we're not going to get much, certainly not like in the City -- and that's New York city -- there is no other city. However, in Madison, there was a place called Fat Boys that made pretty good subs.
  3. Yes, I agree with you and will forgive you that little bit of hyperbole. Maybe those two weren't junk but at the time -- and I still think so -- the Red Sox get a lot for not much. It always seems that when a big named player is moved, what comes back in return is not nearly the equal. In other words, we, the fans, can't believe that so and so team gave up that for a great player. The Red Sox have a problem. Manny says he wants to go, so they've lost bargaining room there already, the Angels have apparently lost interest and the Mets appear to be the only game in town. The Sox have a problem as to what they can get back. I'd rather not gut my team to get him. I'd rather build slowly.
  4. Yeah, she is but sort of an annoying voice.
  5. As far as Cameron goes, he was a good, but not great player, although he had a decent season this year. Not sure which player Dan was referring to about carrying Manny's son jock. If it's Cameron, that's kind of a dumb statement. He's not a great player but a very serviceable one. Omar Minaya didn't answer the question about Nady being part of another deal. About Manny coming to the Mets, they are the only team that seems to want him and you don't think Omar doesn't know this? Same thing for Delgado. I wonder if he thinks he made a mistake. If he's on the Mets this year, they probably make the playoffs. I don't think you'll see Milledge going for him. I remember when the Sox got Pedro, they didn't give up much; Pavano and some junk. Speaking of which, Carl had one good year and the Yank threw around the money. But I was never high on him. He'll probably stay just to show that he can do something. Mets have cash for Wagner with or without Cameron. They'll probably use that $7 million for something else. Let's face it, there isn't much out there this year so I think teams are not going to overspending like in the past.
  6. This is a fantastic disc, the Adams that is, originally recorded in 1957. This is prime fantastic Pepper. Jimmy Rowles is notable on this. My favorite track was Alone Together, a ballad. However, the unsung star on this record was the trumpeter, Lee Katzman. Never heard of him. Man, this guy can blow. AMG has nothing of substance on him so you have to wonder what happened to him. This is a must addition in my opinion for Pepper fans or a Pepper collection. It's unbelievable that this hasn't seen the light of day until now.
  7. That's why it's no good. People practicing their craft an no pre canned crap.
  8. Well, the question is why let Patrick and Thierry go. I mean, that was the heart of the team, unless they need to save money because of the new stadium and they want to get younger and they're willing to take a couple of down years.
  9. I purchased many K2s a few months ago. There are only a few I still desire. I wonder if I should purchase all the K2s for which I still have an interest (and soon)? ← At the very least, get all the Bill Evans, Monk and Wes K2. They're fantastic.
  10. Happy Birthday, although I first thought maybe it was was the song's birthday
  11. I would suggest Dizzy's Musicraft recording on which heappears which is in that Savoy 3 disc issue.
  12. I think he adds to it. I just watched the episode tonight where Larry gave him a mantra for his meditation and it turns out the mantra means "Fuck Me". Hilarious. I was in stitches. LD is just so obnoxious, it's hilarious. How about the one earlier this season where he unintentionally makes that Japanese American guy attempt suicide. The ending was one of the best ever. One of the greatest shows ever on TV. I don't watch any comedy shows except this. The rest is all staged pap.
  13. Thanks Roger. Bookmarked and saved it!
  14. How France makes Tier 1 is beyond me. England or Spain deserve to be higher than them.
  15. You have to also wonder what Wenger was thinking with letting Viera go. Those two seem to be in eclipse right now.
  16. Not world cup football, but any opinions on Roy Keane leaving Manchester?
  17. I have no quarrel with the top 11 or 12 since they should be considered the powers but it does strike me as odd that the US is ranked so low. I would have ranked them at or slightly below the Czech Republic. After all, they did make it to the quarters and are only getting better. On the other hand, I'm not sure France deserves to be there.
  18. I received the Pepper Adams today so I will be popping it into the car cd in about 5 minutes time.
  19. I'm not sure about Paraguay but I think Australia should at least be considered the equal of Ecuador as they have a few EPLers on the team. If I appeared ungracious, sneering, whatever. Anyway, I do congratulate you and the Australian fans and I'm sure it's very exciting for everybody down there. I hope they do well since that can only help the game down there. I also feel good for the likes of Harry Kewell since qualifying for the smaller nations can be a very difficult proposition and who knows when they may get back there.
  20. Chris: I'm not sure that would make that much difference. Let's face it - for each the strugglers, there is going at least of the super teams per group. It's the other two the likes of Australia will be hoping to beat. Is there always a group of death? How are the group lineups decided? Anyone? ← Yes, there always seems to be one. Sorry if I got you offended but you're no different than most fans. As far as Red's comment about Australia not being an underdog to several teams, including the US, that has to be a joke. The US side is one of the better teams, with realistic chances of making the quarters. Australia and teams like Trinidad and Tobago will be teams happy to be there. As far as rooting for the blue bloods, I make no excuses for rooting for the likes of Spain and Brazil and, as I am a fan of the Premiership, England. If I have to choose Spain always comes first on my list. Viva Espana!
  21. Kenny, Your perspective is from a partisan point of view as is mine. It's a tragedy when as a former two time champion they don't get in. Not a tragedy in the real sense of the word, but in the sporting sense. I'm sure if the shoe were on the other foot you wouldn't be a happy camper either. It's not my just having lived there once. I root strongly for all Spanish speaking countries but esp. those that I lived in. I wish you luck but I don't see them moving on. Sour grapes, maybe, but reality too.
  22. When they have the draw, it will be interesting to see who will be in the group of death. I hope the US is not in there but it may be their turn.
  23. I can't say I blame you Hans but I would have liked to see them make it. However, since I also lived in Brazil, Spain and Trinidad, I have other teams to root for. I don't Trinidad will make it through. They don't seem good enough to win at Bahrain. Spain should be in easy with the 4 goal lead.
  24. With all due respect to Hans, as I lived in Uruguay when I was a kid and still root for them, this is a tragedy and there is nothing to congratulate from my point of view
